    "I don't see this as a nerf, but as a fix." Yes, 100% agree. I didn't have fun learning the fight because of that funky stuff, even though I always thought this could be a cool fight. Now, after the patch, it is a cool fight.

      Its definitely both, theres stuff they changed that didnt work as intended or were just overtuned, and theres stuff that makes him noticeably weaker. I feel likw they overcorrected quite a bit

      How is it not a nerf? He does less damage, there are way more opportunities to attack him (with charged R2s) and they slowed down attacks that weren't unfair to begin with. They fixed a lot of Radahn's issues, yes, but they went beyond to make him way easier than they needed to make him.

      @@GawainW the only things that were necessary was changing the cross attack and lowering the holy attack brightness. The other changes did not make him any more fair, it just made him substantially easier.

    i beat Messmer a couple days ago and have been really excited to finally fight Radahn because of all they hype over how hard he was. i felt like i hadn't really sat down and put hours in on a boss since Godfrey on my first playthrough. when i saw the nerf this morning i was kind of mad honestly. i wanted to be able to say i beat him when he was harder, but this vid helped me realize he wasnt hard in a fun way, but in a difficult and confusing way, and the patch simply made the fight more fun while still being challenging. thanks thingfishy

      You didn’t miss much, he kinda sucked. Put it this way, every boss in the DLC took me no more than 5 tries each, most much less, while the difficulty spike to Radahn ended up taking around 4 hours, and none of it was fun, or anything I want to do again, unlike every other boss in the game.

      To anyone fighting Consort Radahn post-patch, please don’t listen to people saying the fight is on easy mode now. They’re only saying that because all of us who beat him pre-patch had to spend anywhere from 5-10 hours or more learning how to essentially no-hit his fight, since that’s practically what was required in order to get through it if you weren’t shield-poking him to death. Anyone who fights him now and goes in completely blind is likely still going to struggle with him quite a bit. The difference now is that he’ll probably be actually fun to learn for new players rather than a frustrating, broken mess that just makes you want to shut the game off.

      I beat him a few times pre-patch and am so happy with the patch. He was so so frustrating before, then I fought him this AM and he’s still insanely hard just not as unfair feeling

      Radahn took me like 8h. At 4h I decided to up my scadu to 15 powerstancing golden epitaph and Miquellan sword. No rot or summons or anything, just me and two swords. It isn't fun, you'd get one shot due to some imperfect dodge making it so the beans stunlock you, and also the visual clutter hid too much info on what the f he was doing right in front of you, not to mention the giant middle finger laser attack at low health. It was very bullshitty, don't let internet people get to you, Radahn was not fun to fight against and all you were left after victory was emptiness

      We all know the true boss is either that lightning wielding Divine Warrior or the one on the roof that wields frost. Legit two of the hardest encounters I had in the DLC XD

    I beat him 2nd week in. He was frustrating. I like challenging fights, but that's been the only fight in elden ring where my attitude was "Thank F#()% that is over." The ending cinematic didn't help recover those feelings either. Happy to see the nerfs, happy if more people get to kill him the way they want to without some cheese build.

      yeah 100% it wasn't a good fight before, it was frustrating and infuriating honestly, and I'm not one of those people that want it easy in a souls game, I've beat almost every soul game except Sekiro and DSIII because I've not played them yet

    I was honestly a little disappointed when I first read he was nerfed because I felt the nerfs that were made to the Lennart version were too severe so thank you for making a clarifying video with actual material to see the changes. I just started a new playthrough of ER and it would have taken me super long to get back to Fan Boy Duo, this video was super comforting. Now I can take my time and still shiver in fear whenever I make it back to the gate

    In my experience, it was a very minor nerf. I was in the middle of capping a run, so I played him a lot in the past few days and a bunch today. He is noticeably easier, but still very hard. The biggest changes I could feel was the fix to the cross-slash, and they slowed the rate he flows from one combo to another in phase 2. I think they’re great changes on the balance. There are a few people who will be mad because he is less of a differentiator now - turning off the cross-slash especially means that mere mortals can think about no-hitting him. That said, I think 99% of the people who play will still find him very hard and won’t even really notice the change.

    Here's what I think of the old fight:
    * a build that gave me a balanced, challenging run for the rest of the DLC bosses would hit a roadblock at Radahn;
    * a build that could beat Radahn would mercilessly bully the rest of the DLC bosses.
    Looking forward to our next encounter :)

    So at 2:40 the information is.. wrong I guess? Maybe they reverted it. I just experienced being hit 3 times in different fights on the swords way down and was really confused as I am on my 100th attempt or so. Hasn't happened to me before, but I got recordings of him suddenly hitting me where I consistently dodged.

    I noticed now that if you get 2 parries in during the first phase, then in the second phase it resets and you need to do 3 more to get a riposte. I could have sworn pre-nerf you could get 2 in phase 1 and then only needed 1 more to get the crit in phase 2.

    I'm on my 2nd run and i'm trying to learn the bosses properly this time, i'm glad he's fixed but kinda wish i got to fight him again at least a couple times to see if i could learn before that. Really glad they made actual changes instead of just nerfing his damage or defense, i hope it's a fun fight now.

    The only things that needed to be "fixed" are Cross Slash & increase the recovery duration to Bloodflame attack, I disagree with every nerf other than those 2 fixes. Now the fight feels considerably slower which is bad, plus the visual effects look lackluster. That fast clone combo-starter attack doesn't need to be rolled, it can always be avoided by strafing/sprinting to the right direction THEN rolling the follow-ups, it had no problems pre-nerf, now they just made the follow-ups come out much slower while looking janky & uninteresting.
    BTW can you please share the Reshade package that you used in this video? It looks so beautiful.

    Really glad to hear about this, and I'd agree these are more fixes than nerfs. These devs must have the exact animation timings and so must have done the original intentionally, but I just don't know what they could've been thinking with some of these attacks. I figured the bloodflame follow-up with no lag was meant to use the light to obscure your vision for the follow-up like how Mohg does it, so I wouldn't have minded keeping that the same, but the timing for the multi-clone attack follow-up was just ridiculous and needed changing.
    I wonder how the nerfed Consort Radahn would compare to Malenia for most people in their first playthroughs. It'd be a lot closer, but I think Radahn would still take first place with his ridiculous AOE attacks in phase 2. Depending on how much trouble Malenia's self-heal gives the player, I guess.

    i never beat radahn hitless before the patch because i hated circling to the left, but i did beat him at level 1 because you can tank the first or second hit of the cross slash with ritual shield talisman and heal after the third because its always a long enough window, so i just dealt with it like that and it took a long time but i did it, using a cleanrot knights sword

    This is a good thing;
    Raddahn was the First time in all of the Souls games to date (15 years of souls games) that You were not playing the game you were reacting to the boss.
    Was it fun? Yes. Was it lore apropriate because Raddahn is the Main character of the Lore? YES! But I think we felt what most new players feel when they try to play the game not knowing anything about this game: "I can't do anything. Everytime I try to do something I get punished and die"
    Some builds and playstyles used to work in Raddahn, but know, All builds can work on Raddahn.
    And for FromSoft to go back and fix this and still have all the little things that we like about the fight and spirit of the game intact, it means that they are aware of how both new and old players fell about things and are willing to change if necessary with little compromised for the things we love.
    This is why fromsoft is the best.

    5:10 it's definitely smaller. Previously I could almost never make it in time to run away and get out of the radius of the explosion (except at the very start of 2nd phase when I know it's about to be performed), but now I've never gotten hit by it again.

    I dodge the fast clone attack by running to the right and jumping the actual slash at the end. Works great and I've never been hit by that attack since

    I played Elden Ring for like a 7th time the weeks leading up to the dlc release and once it did I had two characters saved at end base game so I played through the expansion two times in a row! After that I took my break to go play a few other titles I like so I’ll admit I haven’t played the dlc since this update so I plan on waiting a few more weeks until I get that want to play the game again and I’ll see if I like it better!

    I can say I beat it before the nerf. Got the plat trophy for it but it felt a relief than a triumph. I was just glad it was over.
    I did go back for more by helping lots of people struggling with it. They were mostly just glad but not doing the fist pump emote. Nerfing him was for the die hards a bit sad but for everybody that loves Elden Ring we'll at least play it again without dreading fighting Radahn again at the end.

    The only fix I wanted to see were visual ones tbh. The first phase was easy after spending time on it, but I couldn't beat the second phase due to the lighting. It's literally an accessibility nightmare for someone with imperfect vision & light sensitivity + missed inputs from frame drops as was playing on my low end micro PC on my TV. I ended up just saying meh I don't feel like switching to my other PC to beat this prick and stopped there. Beat every other boss except metyr as I borked the quest.

    Pre-patch, I struggled with his fast clones attack so much. I no longer have the reaction time to start running early enough, all a part of aging I guess. I'm glad they put in this change so that old geezers like me can still have a fair shot at a hitless run independent of RNG.
    Nerfing his shoulder hit box was unnecessary though 😂, I'll happily facetank his football bash if I can't read it right.

    What angers me the most isn't the the change in attack speed but the fact that they changed his spinning gravity attack. It was originally bad because it was inconsistent and sometimes he would walk waisting time and losing buffs, now its garuanteed to waist time and lose buffs.

      then buff after you walk into the fogwall. thats where the change is for. to give you time to buff or summon ( you cant summon until you pass fog wall )

    Yeah sure it was possible to get good at pre patch radahn. But it’s not very feasible for a newcomer. Now it should be ever so slightly easier to tackle.

    Having beaten before the patch. him i do agree he needed a change, but i think they went a bit overboard with how they went about it. Havent tried post patch but it seems like they took out every part the made the fight hard to begin with. This is meant to be your climactic ending. I think this will take away from what this fight actually means and how it ties into the story. But i guess accessibility is also an ok way to go.

    Cross slash and visibility were definitely good fixes, but I hate what they did to the clone attacks. It used to be incredibly fun to dodge all of the clones and then the follow up string, but now there’s a two second delay that makes it ludicrously easy to dodge. I wish that they applied the new clone dodge while keeping the instant double swing follow up

The only move that annoyed me about the fight was the speed of the cross slash combo and how I could never seem to consistently avoid it.     I hate this boss. His attacks make no sense to me at all. I ended up calling for help and did not feel bad about it. Just replayed Sekiro and realized how much more I appreciate the final boss in that game.

    where's my "i beat both pre-nerf Radahns and all i got was this stupid T-shirt" at? what i'm truly grateful for, though, is that they fixed the triple slash. that attack made the fight the most repetitive, boring fight in the game. it was roll left, roll left, roll left, and run to the side a couple times until you got an attack window until he was dead. i had resorted to guard-poking the first time, then miriam's vanishing and carian slicer with max cast speed, then the blinkbolt long-haft axe, and you get the idea lol. so i do think some of the changes were warranted. and i too will forever dodge his shoulder no matter what lmao.

    Finally the triple slash got nerfed! Thanks Miyazaki. This attack is probably the one killed me most. In my last playthrough before patch it took me like 60-70 tries to beat Radanh. Each time he did the triple slash I either take big damage or die. From all this 60-70 attempts I managed to dodge this shit THREE times only by pure luck! They had to fix this. Than the fast clone attack became way more predictable. You couldn't fucking see the next boss's attack behind the damn light pillars it often catch you off guard. Just so much random bullshit is going on! Since my first DLC run Radahn fight wasn't fun at all. In the end I could say nothing but "ПОШЁЛ НА ХУЙ, РАДАН! ПОШЁЛ НА ХУЙ!!!" Hope this changes make him less frustrating and more pleasant.

    Nerfs in Fromsoft games are always controversial. To me, it's a video game. To others, it's life or death.

    I have a lot to say on radahn so please everyone. Indulge me a moment.
    He definitely needed a nerf. But this was too much. First off everyone was praising the dlc for being hard and clowning on idiots who complained about difficulty. We don't want you to make it easier. Radahn is presumably the last boss for Elden Ring. Let him stay the monster he was. He is also known as the mightiest demigod. He really made us understand why they called him that. And he is much more life like. I mean its unrealistic that these guys will just watch us power up and summon. I liked that he charged in with no hesitation and you have to create a moment to do your business in the fight. Like they nerf the surprise attack because it was too surprising are you serious? Besides he didnt even always do that attack. Sometimes he started with lion claw or started running. Not necessary. They did however need to fix that the slam goes through the fog wall and hits phantoms.
    Now onto the moveset. Ok lets address the big thing. The X slash was rightfully nerf. No attack should depend entirely on your placement of the boss. That was dumb (Even tho if some of yall would grow a pair, you'd know light roll trivializes that move). Radahn uses it as a get off me tool but its so pathetically slow that its a waste. There were 2 easy fixes if you ask me. 1. They widen the dodge window by a small amount. Meaning its extremely unforgiving and has to be timed perfectly so any late dodges will get caught. 2. They could've made it a move that can be done in 1 dodge. The first 2 slashes are done in the time of one dodge roll like with rellana's hold double slash with her left sword. I think this would've been best. And it still gives a window to escape the final hit. Making it as weak as it is was just distasteful.
    Now I think most people would agree that phase 1 is pretty awesome. Radahn is awesome and menacing and strong as FUCK. Just what we expected. I dont hear anyone complaining about it so id leave it as is. What needs to be touched up is phase 2.
    - Real quick though the only thing i would nerf regarding the moveset itself is the bloodflame slice recovery time(which they did) and bringing down the damage on his extremely fast slashes. They do way too much damage for a supposedly slower boss. Everything else was fine really. Now he feels more like hes waiting for you to hit him before he begins his next move. -
    Back to phase 2. In addition to the changes above the only thing i would do is nerf the lighting and the lights that follow his slashes. Those are rhe big issue in phase 2. Everything else can be learned. Even the after image strikes. (They can be dodged by walking guys come on). But how i would fix those light beams is either 1. Remove 1 light beam so there's exactly one less beam. Ive watched hosts perfectly dodge radahn's slash but the light beams cover the exaft length of their roll and they die. Thats kinda broken. Taking one off would be infinitely more forgiving. OR 2. They can just reduce the poise of those follow up light beams. I have also seen and experienced dodging a move but being hit by the light beams which stun long enough for radahn to cleave through us a second time with more light beams. That is simply too punishing and i have beaten him more than once. Its excessive. Let the light rays do damage but don't make them stop our tracks completely. That would make phase 2 instantly more bearable because they even stop you from hitting during the small windows we have to attack.
    Plus they didnt even need to make him slow when in the very same patch they buffed our attsck speed so heavily. We can bust in heavy attacks so quickly and easily we can break his posture quickly too. But these few minor changes is all i think he needs to remain the hardest boss fight in fromsoft history while still being more forgiving to the player. Let me know your guy's thoughts. If you made it this far im sorry you had to read all that and I hope you were intrigued by these ideas.

    If you fought him before nerf, don't hate on it. There are people who's worst than you because they learn differently and if you see them inferior well, I'm happy bc you're getting mad at something small, anyway todools

    This is a great patch re Radahn. 20 attack spam combos isnt fun, hated this boss fight. I know some souls bois that touch themselves to a picture of Miyazaki isnt gonna like this but who cares lmao this is a welcome change.

    What's good about killing the boss with a panic rolls?Im honestly disappointed.At this point they need to add diffucility option to game so we dont have to deal with these nerfs.

    I hated gow this boss forced you to change your playstyle it was hard but it was not fun. When i finally beat him, I didn't feel accomplished or satisfied. i felt relieved I didn't have to do that shitty fight again. These changes seem to have inprove the fight a lot.

    I still dont like him, i cant see anything in the second phase over the hair and lights, he still feels over tuned
    I dont think i am going to replay the Dlc in NG+ honestly

    Yeah, when his stuff was Busted As Hell before, that's called a fix. And he absolutely was. Oh, yeah, just track and deal with the 'fast as light' BS spam, whatever!
