Fun fact, the ending song of this episode is actually a song called "Tsubasa" that came out in 2005 and the ED is a cover done by Nanahoshi's voice actor and a crazy detail is that she can be heard humming this exact song in episode 9 of season 2.

I know this is a change for the anime but it's a nice little Easter Egg.
I wonder whats the meaning behind having her sing this song, usually everything has a reason. I found that Under Graph is the original band that played the song i think.
So a couple quick things that were unfortunately left out
1. This starts about a month after the wedding Rudeus mentions that sylphy stays at the dorms protecting Princess Ariel and gets one night off every 3 days (you best believe they enjoyed there time together)
2. The anime partially censored nanahoshis breakdown but she was smashing here head against the wall (part of the reason why the crowd was shocked was because she was slightly bloody) After taking here to the infirmary Rudeus decides to let her stay at his place so when she wakes up she will have someone she knows by her side
3. When zanoba is bringing her there Rudeus apologizes for relying on him to which zanoba dismisses his concerns saying she not heavy promoting Rudeus to wonder about her diet, She ends up staying a week at the mansion (sylphy also stays to watch over her)
4. After that Rudeus brings cliff and zanoba to look over her research elenalise tags along, when nanohoshi is brought by Rudeus and sees them in her research lab she makes a comment about them ravishing her (I think we know what she implied) something cliff takes offense to
5. After the success they depart the lab intending to celebrate, linia persuna Ariel sylphy luke and badigahi tag along
6. When they arrive at the tavern nanahoshi plops down a bag of coins and go to rent the space but badigadi set an even bigger bag down saying he’ll pay and for the bar keep to prepare everything the have for a banquet
7. As the celebration goes on everyone starts to get buzzed and we learn that sylphy is clingy drunk as she tell Rudeus to pat her and and nibble her ear she also tells him that shes jealous how he takes about rujerid
8. (This is the one thing I’m upset they cut because it was nanahoshis funniest line in my opinion) at one point she comes over to Rudy and sylphy and start berating them for being so affectionate in public she also yells at them for having the audacity to partake in intercourse will she was depressed saying she could hear the creaking and moaning coming from the bedroom the line was something like *”YOU TWO WERE HAVING SEX WHILE IM HAVING A MENTAL BREAKDOWN”*

Yeah, one of the bedrooms that Rudeus set up for his sisters that he decided should be on the complete opposite side of the house so that they wouldn't hear his love-making sessions with Sylphy, and yet the sounds still made it that far. I love the theory that Sylphy was being louder intentionally because she's still insecure about Nanahoshi and wanted her to hear it as a way of declaring that Rudeus is hers and Nanahoshi can't have him.
That is funny as hell😂

Remember this series is all about character development, he barely has any memories with his little sisters especially not Norn.

What I love about this episode is how they showed what it’s like being Isekai’d in a realistic way cause let’s be for real if most of us irl were one day randomly Isekai’d to a whole new world we would probably HATE IT and would want to go home fast.
Yeah, as much as it would probably be awesome at first(depending on what kind of world you end up in) at some point you wanna go back home, only to to told you can’t either because they don’t know how to send you back(which is total BS) or they don’t want to and only see you as a tool/weapon to help their stupid war against some enemy country or the demon lords army because they’re to weak and pathetic to do it themselves, I would also lose it at some point as well.

A lot of old school isekai/portal fantasy was like that so I do enjoy seeing the meta perspective of how the "genres" protags are (Nanahoshi is even a girl like most old portal fantasy leads)

Rudy going to immediately help Nanahoshi is so great cause he didn’t want her to fall into that depressive slump that he went through, in his previous life and before he met Slyphie again.
Those dead eyes and empty stare Nanahoshi gave Rudeus reminded him of his own in his past life, and when they found her carrying that knife it probably reminded him of when anytime was suicidal or when he tried to kill himself after Sarah yelled at him.
He knew he had to take action for one of his friends, and he did.

I felt bad for Nanahoshi seeing her breakdown like that and it hits harder with the voice acting too. It’s nice that Rudeus and the others were able to help her with the magic circle, so hopefully she’ll be able to return home soon.

@@mattersondoomlol,it's quite the opposite actually. I think the confusion also stems frm the fact that adaptation has been ignoring the side notes related to Eris' info dumps so far. Rudy,by this point in the story,has gained enough virtue and comprehensive skills to figure out the intent behind the letter Eris left him with. He actually even addressed that in the LN that it might have been her poor way of communicating her feelings via the letter that caused all that bs to begin with. And,to an extent Sylphie understands it too.
Don’t forget, Rudy can relate to the dagger considering he did try to stab himself with a dagger earlier so he probably heavily related to that feeling

Nanahoshi being a completely empty shell was a bit longer in the light novel, in the anime its shown to have been resolved in a day or two but she was like that for at least a week before everyone was able to show her their idea. Props to the VA for doing such an incredible job, I get chills hearing it.
There was an obvious time skip while they were all working on the new circles, it's not implied that it was short or long but I don't need all the exposition to tell me that the amount of time doesn't mean much. It showed on her face how impactful it was

The continuity is nice but the lack of even a 5 second montage felt like a short skip ahead by a few days which I just would've liked to be shown more since I related heavily to the light novel and everything depicted in it.
@star5736 oh I agree with you on the light novel part. I still get chills when I re read parts like this. And my expectations for the show aren't low but I know how these things go and all the novel readers can't be pleased lol. I definitely want people to have the feelings I did about it as a reader, but anime onlys are getting some good stuff this season so I'm happy with it
From what I can tell, Rudy has been helping Nanahoshi as much as possible. She just doesn’t want help and refuses it. Rudy used to be like this. All she wants is Rudy to be quiet and act as a mana battery for her when she needs it. She got upset when Rudy tried to connect through small talk. I get the impression she doesn’t want to “waste time” getting home and probably has figured out taboo knowledge to boot. Imagine if she could recreate the mana disaster how people would treat her.
The magic circles were neat. It really is like laying out a circuit pattern. You could actually see the corner shorting, growing really bright, before it discharged and burned the paper. There was just no way to connect the circles in some places and not others in one layer. The multilayered solution is so obvious in hindsight. But sometimes when you’re so deep into something you need someone from the outside to offer suggestions that can see a different angle because they don’t know what’s “not possible”.
Anyway, I noticed Nanahoshi stopped wearing her mask around them, even if it’s just for now. She doesn’t seem to like people seeing her Japanese features or young face. I think this experience has opened her up a little.
These are my two cents; your opinion may vary.
The song that plays in the end is the one Nanahoshi and Rudeus were humming in part 1 right before they met btw.
There are 2 things you guys need to know
1. What they meant was that rudeus can’t use incantationless healing magic but can do incantationless spells for every other magic and sylphy was saying maybe he doesn’t know how it feel deep down to be on the other side of the spell because for incantationless magic, rudeus can basically feel the spell forming and that’s why it’s easy for him to learn new spells and even form his own spells. Sylphy can use incantationless healing magic that’s why she offered to teach rudeus how to do it.
2. The summoning magic has to be very specific as you guys guessed it right. To avoid sending he back but in another country or in the past, so that’s why she’s taking slow steps to figure out what she’s summoning, when and where she’s summoning it from so that she can send herself back to her hometown at the exact moment she left.
Imagine getting teleported into s world with no tampons, no pain killers, no toilet, you eat meat, bread and potatoes everydat, can't brush your teeth, no comfortable bedding, no WiFi, no electronics no nothing and not losing your mind. Surprised took her so long to break.
She’s sort of lucky in that her body can’t decay or gain weight or age so teeth are alright but yeah sucks big time
A lot of her corporate empire was about getting food she likes. The school offers a menu that she's trying to rebuild with that world's ingredients, mainly ending up with kerry soup and nanahoshiyaki.
She won't have to worry about tampons. She has not changed a day since arrival. Her body's cycles apart from basic metabolism are completely halted. No hair or nail growth, either.
Nanahoshi monthly cycle is stopped I think.

After that rudy hooks up with roxy cause hes depressed and brings her home as his second wife. The man god is actually a villan and rudy teams up with orsted to take him down. One small thing I really like in this episode is how Rudy calls Paul "Dad". He was calling him "Paul" until they reconnected in Millis, it shows that he has gained some respect for the guy and learned to empathise with him since he's stopped cheating and was more responsible the last time they met.
When Rudy saw that knife, I think he got flashbacks to when he almost ended himself before Soldat stopped him

Japanese high school students often go to Karaoke, so I can picture her singing with her friends.
The lyrics tell us Nanahoshi's mind, check out the English translation.
Believe it or not in the LN the Nanahoshi scene is even more visceral. She screams, starts clawing her face and hitting her face on the wall and then goes into that almost dead like state.
Nanahoshi is there for about 6 years.... If we notice she is literally the other side of the coin of Rudeus, the antithesis.
She still has connections to her original world. She has loved ones there, she was loved there, she has dreams and plans for her life. When she got teleported in the 6 sided world she became a recluse, she is avoiding contact, she eats trash, she even wears a mask to avoid connection. She became what Rudeus was in his previous life.
Rudeus had no connections in his previous life, he was a recluse(due to being abused + trauma but... still) and when he died and got reincarnated in the six sided world he started anew, has loved ones, he is truly loved and admired by alot of people, has aspirations, dreams and plans.
You got to also remember Nanahoshi said that because she is a foreign object in this world she can't interact with this world even if she wanted to. If she ends up making major changes to the 6 sided world using her knowledge from earth, thst world will erase her. So she goes out of her way to try not to bea hige influence in the world. Unlike rudeus who was reborn into that world, Nanahoshi was just telaported there.
Nanahoshi voiced by Shion Wakayama who also voiced Takina from Lycoris Recoil, both her and Takina kind of similar. So seeing her is like seeing Takina in another world, and to breakdown like that really hurt my heart. The ED song is from her too, they released offical track of it.
From what I understand, to do incantationless magic, you need to visualize how magic affects things on a microscopic level. Rudy has a good grasp on physics, but not so much on the functioning of cells which is why he needs incantations for healing. Orsted even asked him why he didn’t just do incantationless healing when he was doing incantationless attacking.
So bros inept at bio but adept at physics (supposedly chemistry too ig).
music at the end credits was the song sung by nanahoshi at the party. the singer is her VA
You spoke of clapping cheeks, in the Light novel Nanahoshi told Rudy and Sylphie during the party that she could hear them fucking during the nights she spent at his place depressed. She spent a few nights and his place and it also took a few days to solve her magic circle issue. They time lapsed all of it though
Yeah, they are skipping past a lot of interesting details in this adaptation. Seems they really want to get to Roxy, ASAP.
In Rudeus defense Nanahoshi avoided other people and didnt want to cooperate. Even the deal with Rudeus was strictly business. And the age gap (17 vs 34 in their world) didnt help them connect which Rudeus did try.
Why get to know people in a world that you wanna leave.
The location question is actually bought up and goes even further because its not just about what place your appear but also at what height? Remember Sylphie appeared IN the sky. You dont wanna send homegirl back to our earth without magic in freefall.>

not everyone wants to get isekai'd, some people have genuinely fulfilling lives that getting torn from like this is their own personal living nightmare.
Nanahoshi is so valid for that breakdown, shes spent YEARS in this world that she hates just trying to leave, and when she finally has a little hope that she can get CLOSER to leaving, it failed on her.
Rudy recognized the signs in her super fast thankfully, and stepped up to drag her out of the depression fog as soon as he could. and who doesnt like having a fun time eating and drinking with friends?

Nanahoshi also have it more difficult than Rudy, she only got transported without having extra advantage, she literally just a normal earth person in another magic world without mana.

In Japan (i dont know other areas but atleast in my prefecture) you have to differentiate the trash, in case of plastic bottle, the label and cap is different type of trash from the bottle itself so you have to take it off from the bottle before you throw it to the bin

What I love from the celebration montage is that specific part where Nanahoshi is holding the spoon probably as a microphone because if I remember correctly, in the light novel when they are celebrating, Nanahoshi starts singing in Japanese as if they went karaoke and Badigadi says he doesn't understand but LOVES it

Just a note, there was a lot of Paul's note that was cut out that was in the Light Novel.
The episode highlights the importance of human connection. Nanahoshi didn't think of the people in the world as "real" and didn't really want to interact with them because it isn't her reality. However, now it seems like she's finally coming out of that isolated mindset, where she felt as if she was truly alone but can realize that there are other people.
Also one thing anime failed to mention but should be somewhat obvious, Rudy already sent letters regarding his marriage but given the lack of technology those should be arriving mad late to Paul so that's why his reply is super outdated events in the timeline.

And yes, Rudeus and Sylphie carried on like normal. She complained about the noise at the party after having some drinks.

Her freakout wasn't the product of failures piling up, but about a big moment she was hyping up failing. She spent a few years learning the customs and language of that world with Orsted, a few more years learning about magic circles and building up passive income to suport her research, and the last two years bruteforcing different kinds of circles to learn the "programming language" of the system. That circle was the fruit of all that effort and it failed. She'd put all her hopes on it.
The breakthrough of using multiple layers unlocked a whole different avenue to pursue things. She could dump off functions to different circles and then bring them all back together.
In the book, that circle that worked was like a piece of cardboard, but it's more impressive to show it as an array. More complex circles to come would be thicker.
Feels like Rudy and Nanahoshi switched mental states in the second part of the season

Just a reminder when both if them trying to teach other magic 4:03 Rudeus want to learn the "Incantation-less healing magic" from Sylphy cuz he doesn't know how healing works thus he can't visualize the healing process(This is only the magic he can't do incantation-less)
As for Sylphy, she trying to learn the disturb magic that cancel out certain magic from the opponent(rudeus learned it after seeing orsted used the magic on their fight). This is one of the magic that Sylphy does not know how it works cuz other than that Sylphy can do a incantation-less magic same as rudeus.

The dagger was a change from the book, but a poignant one. In the book she had a swiss army knife that Rudeus secured after patting her down just in case she'd harm herself. Here it was a reminder for Rudeus of his suicide attempt. Even if it was for utility, it's still more substantial than what was in the text.
