It's one of the few anime, especially in the isekai genre, that let's itself just show sincere authentic emotion rather than treating the world like a video game with no stakes.
Few things left out to understand Norn more : -Lillia, Norn and Aisha went to Rudeus's Mothers place. Her family are REALLY religious so they treated real bad Aisha and Lillia, besides Norn was compared a lot with Aisha so she generated a complex inferiority. -First impressions matter, so Norn's first impression of Rudy was him beating their father, so she also developed an extreme fear of Rudy. She thought that Rudy was a menace that punched everybody so she couldn't understand why everyone was talking so good about him. Norn also used to think that everyone hate her (because complex inferiority), so with all of that in her mind yeah she practically said nope I don't wanna go out. Also when Rudy came in to the dorm she thought he was gonna beat her.
The greatest part about this episode in my eyes is Rudeus being extremely proud of Norn and almost looking up to her. Here is this 10 year old girl going through a similar type of depression and fear of the world that dominated 20+ years of Rudeus's previous life. Yet Norn was able to work out her own feelings (with Rudeus's help even if he doesn't know it). Come to terms with her feelings and change her mind about her brother and her feelings towards him. And take the steps to move forward. To leave her room. To start being happy with herself again. Something Rudeus doesnt feel like he could have ever done. And for that he's extremely proud of her and sees her as an incredible person. As an Older brother myself, its a wild feeling to see your siblings surpass you and do things you know you yourself could not do. And i am so damn proud of my brother for what he has accomplished. This episode hella connected with me. Im glad i could see older sibling feelings done justice in this incredible anime.
Episode title is amazing as well as initially you think it will be just about Norn getting to understand Rudeus, but it also ends up in our MC understanding his own brothers feelings from way back.

It's great that others are seeing the FMA in this. I'm pretty sure FMA was one of the works that inspired the author. Hell, my mind started casting voice talent from the series when I was reading the web novel. Rudeus and Ed have similar hair styles, and they both bypass a major component in their settings' spellcasting; Man-God looks like Truth; magic circles are a big thing; and various other similarities~~
I think what kinda like struck a cord in my heart. Was the end of the episode where he thanks his older brother:m. And that sadness knowing that his older brother was never truly able to know or see his younger brother flourish. I guess as someone with a brother. It made me feel a type of way.
8:27 - It's not just "expectations set high" - Norn both hated Rudeus and was afraid of him, and seeing how everyone else around her kept praising him constantly (which further fuelled her anger and anxiety - "why is everyone praising this horrible person!?") she developed a further fear that if Rudeus was to hit her or kick her out or just do something horrible, etc, then nobody would take her side because she's "a nobody" while he's "loved by everyone". Hence the power in her realization of "my brother won't hit me".
Norns POV is 10x more sad in the light novel when you get all the context of how she was treated/talked to by her grandmother when her and Aisha lived with her for a bit in Millis while Paul looked for their mother. Aisha had it really bad too.
The way Rudy’s sister struggled with him being famous is a perfect example of what happens to your hatters when you live your best life 😂 even if that’s not what she meant.
In the manga people would compare her to her sister too and be like how much more talented or smarter she was than her. So in school it was now everyone comparing her to her brother and saying how great he was. So she was dealing with the same thing again. Also she was afraid of Rudy cuz how she first met him beating up their father so she thought if she messed up or made him upset he would hit her. That's why she wanted to be in the dorms cuz she was afraid of him. The other sister would always try to prove she was good enough cuz the grandmother looked down her for being a concubines daughter basically. They both had it rough in their own ways
Turning Point 1 is the Teleportation disaster, Turning Point 2 is when Orsted, the Dragon God kills Rudy, and then revives him after Nanahoshi asked for him to do it. This one isn't going to be as insane of a moment, but what it leads to is something incredible.

It took me a while to understand what exactly Norn was struggling with and what she managed to sort through on her own. If I had to summarize it, the biggest issues would be: Norn thought her brother was shitbag who hated Paul and either also hated or was apathetic towards her. She also loathed being told this person that she despised was really amazing and she should be more like him. But eventually, she realized that Rudeus actually loved his family--including Norn--and that he's actually a good person (overall at least).

I think what kinda like struck a cord in my heart. Was the end of the episode where he thanks his older brother:m. And that sadness knowing that his older brother was never truly able to know or see his younger brother flourish. I guess as someone with a brother. It made me feel a type of way.

for not having any action, that was a really, really engaging episode. it literally passed as fast as an action-packed episode, for me.

8:27 - It's not just "expectations set high" - Norn both hated Rudeus and was afraid of him, and seeing how everyone else around her kept praising him constantly (which further fuelled her anger and anxiety - "why is everyone praising this horrible person!?") she developed a further fear that if Rudeus was to hit her or kick her out or just do something horrible, etc, then nobody would take her side because she's "a nobody" while he's "loved by everyone". Hence the power in her realization of "my brother won't hit me".

This episode was probably my favourite in terms of development for both Norn and Rudeus allowing both of them to close a chapter on their pasts.

Norns POV is 10x more sad in the light novel when you get all the context of how she was treated/talked to by her grandmother when her and Aisha lived with her for a bit in Millis while Paul looked for their mother. Aisha had it really bad too.

In the manga people would compare her to her sister too and be like how much more talented or smarter she was than her. So in school it was now everyone comparing her to her brother and saying how great he was. So she was dealing with the same thing again. Also she was afraid of Rudy cuz how she first met him beating up their father so she thought if she messed up or made him upset he would hit her. That's why she wanted to be in the dorms cuz she was afraid of him.
The other sister would always try to prove she was good enough cuz the grandmother looked down her for being a concubines daughter basically. They both had it rough in their own ways

Turning Point 1 is the Teleportation disaster, Turning Point 2 is when Orsted, the Dragon God kills Rudy, and then revives him after Nanahoshi asked for him to do it. This one isn't going to be as insane of a moment, but what it leads to is something incredible.
I KNOW Roshi saw that still picture of who was in the beginning of the next episode. SOON as he saw it his face changed lmfaooo. It's about to be twerk-city up in here next episode XD

It took me a while to understand what exactly Norn was struggling with and what she managed to sort through on her own. If I had to summarize it, the biggest issues would be:
Norn thought her brother was shitbag who hated Paul and either also hated or was apathetic towards her. She also loathed being told this person that she despised was really amazing and she should be more like him. But eventually, she realized that Rudeus actually loved his family--including Norn--and that he's actually a good person (overall at least).
This episode was a banger tbh, did not expect it.
