Mike Felty my friend had a worked Corrado with an 18 lbs boost supercharger back in the day. We raced a Z 06 Vette one day for fun. My buddies Corrado smoked him big time. Guy made us show what was under the hood. Lol.
It's bracket racing, you give what your time is and they adjust the light tree accordingly so the idea is the faster car leaves later with the object of hitting the finish line at the same time. It makes it so you have to be extremely consistent with your launches, shifts and the tune of your car. It's a popular form of racing where I live. So while the performance does matter the drivers consistency and abilities matter more. Makes it fun so some dude can't just rock up with the fastest car and smoke everyone whether he can drive or not.

I typically don't care for some forms of bracket racing, especially classes that allow delay boxes. To me that takes some of the thrill out of it. It was just funny to me the way the VW ran down the T/A. I tend to prefer heads up racing or the slower guy getting lengths or other advantages to make it more fair. Timing the tree staggered is used in heads up classes sometimes as well.

He must've been in a serious haze; that was a crazy late launch. You can build boost long before, no need to wait that long and as seeing as he's obviously don't it before it struck me as odd. Mistakes happen all the time, I guess I shouldn't assume.
I love the diversity in drag racing these days!! I’m 50 now and growing there was no car at a drag strip with a 4 or 6 cylinder engine. There was an occasional 4 cylinder Offy in a retro drag car or a supercharged Chevy straight 6 but they were rare. Nowadays you have no idea what you’re up against! There are 6 second cars with 4G63 engines and of course the mighty 2JZ which is way better than JZ! The RB engines are killers too and the Swedes are building 7 second Volvo engines and on and on! If you have the money you can build a billet block out of any well designed engine and put astronomical boost to it and injectors like fire hoses! I didn’t even mention what the Puerto Ricans and Ozzies are doing with the old Rotary engines! I love it. There IS a replacement for displacement!!! And all this technology is from the early days! Turbo and super charging was developed in the late 20s and used extensively in fighter planes in the 30s and 40s. It ain’t new but is finally available to the average Joe on a budget. I look foreword to the next few decades to see what’s next. 3 second all electric dragster outrunning top fuel?

Stock t type or grand national on slicks might have run low 14s or high 13s. Have to remember that the 80s muscle cars were all very slow compared to today’s muscle care

I know that they share some things, but that Isuzu Pup looks like an S10 disguised as an Isuzu. I know that the Isuzu Hombre was a re-badged 2nd gen S10, but did Isuzu make a model that so closely resembled a '91-'93 S10?
That was an S10 badged as a p'up. I had a p'up and they were the same as the Chevy Luv until the Luv was discontinued so the S10 could join the line up. The P'up continued on unchanged until Isuzu redesigned it for 1988 when they brought out the rodeo and amigo.
On the tree, the Green Go light for the top lane looks totally like another Yellow when it lights up. Maybe this is why some drivers are messing up their hole shot in that top lane.

My dad and uncle helped build my Pinto , my first car i was 18 year old and we did up a 289 , full house on nitris shot 250hp. Dyno to wheels was 785 with the 289 no shot. Sweeet sleeper. I was doing high 9s quarter mile street daily driver. Best was 9.76. Average 10.20 to 11 second. Sleepers are cool. Original. My next will be a big block

You may already know about these parts, but, if it starts cutting out, there are two air filters on the engine. The regular one, and a tiny one on the back side of the air cleaner. Also, on the exhaust manifold there is a part (I forget the name of it, but it was $100 bucks 20 years ago lol) that can go bad. I had to figure these out for myself as two mechanics I took the truck to couldn't. lol Once replaced, I had a great running truck. Mine only had 160,000k, but I had heard those little engines were diehards.
Rick. I was around in the days of the early 318’s. I don’t think they ever offered one with a 4 brl carb The stock hp was around 210-230 at the crank Chrysler actually made a 273 that made more hp than the 318. The 318 shares the same block as the 273-340-360 but that’s about all. It was definitely Chrysler’s a dads car engine
I really liked your vid but I think you need to look up ‘sleeper’ again. Grand Nationals, Fox Body Mustangs, 4G63 Mitsus (Eagle Talon/Mitsu Eclipse), Teslas and GMC Typhoons don’t count. Some of the ones I really liked were the Eagle Summit (the one just missing a 2-step to get down in the low 9s or high 8s), the first Integra (220 hp my ass!), that Corolla(holy fuck, 8.5!!), the convertible Vette, Chrysler 300 and the last Impreza STI.

All new vettes n hell cats have line locks. Im 40. But that was a thing you would only see in a straight build, not factory. Its cheaper to buy than to build. If you have the money they are the best. Hands down. They were factory built to drag.
How much? and with reliability.. if you buy cheap, expect to have it in shop a lot, or be doing a lot of work yourself,. But it does depend, sometimes you get lucky and nothing goes wrong.. very lucky
