Someone get Karen an award!! The amount of dedication and care she put in trying to help Ben...just amazing. Really fell in love with her character. And this was a beautiful story. It really highlights the struggle of homeless LGBTQI.
This story is happening too often. In the USA 40% of homeless young people are LGBTQI. Same horror is here in France. We have a non profit organization called "Le Refuge" but kids are tossed into the streets by their foster family - or biological ones every day. We need to do more. Build some safe places, help them to study and grow. This is a duty, not only for the community, but foremost for the sake of these young people. It starts with kindness toward them and a constant and strong pressure upon the authorities to force them to fight LGBTQI-phobia and fund foster organization. thanks for this movie. heavy subject but a good script that doesn't end with a mandatory "happy end" so we can face the truth.
Hi ! Manuel ! Bonsoir Manuel ! Greetings from France too ! Your words are mine ! By the way, I'm jealous of your good english written expression. About the film, I'm facinated by the voice and US accent of the kid.
manuel atreide and lake ariel 18436, we agree the situation amongst LGBTQ youth is not a good one. While there were personal elements incorporated into this film, we really wanted to raise awareness. We thank you so much for watching and for your support!
De tout: il n'est pas pareil in France, tellement mieux avec les racines d'un culture plus overt, plus sensible, et plus profond. Moi, pas d'origine françaises, La France m'a sauvé la vie. Merci.
This sends a great message. Foster kids, especially those who are LGBT, face so many challenges. This film has inspired me to actively pursue a dream I have of starting a small group home in the country where young men can complete their HS diplomas through independent study, learn necessary life skills, live and work in a loving and cooperative environment, and be free to grow without fear of rejection.
YES Tim Warren: DO IT! I'm also pursuing my dream to build an academy/organic farm for homeless LGBT boys, and give them a safe, fertile environment where they can blossom to their full potential. The system, and homophobes won't do anything, so WE WILL and WE CAN.
Foster kids, regardless of their background/faith/beliefs/others stuff, have difficult lives. However, the responsible here is the close family, the extended family, and after them the government that prefers to spend resources on people living outside own country. Just imagine how their lives will be if instead of rescuing people from the other side of the world, the rescued ones are from home?
Hi Michel! We're glad you enjoyed the film! We're working with the writer/director on a feature length version. We'll be making an announcement in the coming months!
We are all very glad you all have enjoyed our movie. Due to health reasons I was sidetracked from finishing the feature length script, with an ending I hope everyone will enjoy. I’m back at it and hoping to continue the story. You will all learn what happens to Ben. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out.
Hi Bryan - thank you for your feedback. We are in the early stages of a feature-length version and hope to have some exciting announcements in the coming months. Cheers!
being homeless is a helpless situation. you run to the people you trust. group homes don't help when there's homophobics around. I know this because I was placed in many homes has a young child. a empty feeling takes over, and nothing seems to be right.
hello from Paris France i've just whatched this movie .... i'm so sorry for what happened to you when you were a child... i hope everything is ok for you now....
don bob thank u for sharing your story, takes bravery to do it... hope everything worked out... yeah it seems rough not knowing where u will end up next... bless u for being so strong ...
If I was at all superstitious I place a curse on you but given your twisted mentality demonstrated here you're already living with one. Good luck, you're going to need it.
It would have been comforting to find some relief at the end..... but then, that is what home LESS means. God bless and protect all those in Ben's place! Extremely well done, thanks.
Having been a fosreter carer for 10 years of fostering young adults, this beautifully made film reflects the true plight of LGBT+ young people. Their peers are most ofter cruel stemming from ignorance. My husband and I did what we could.
I live in the UK and in my city there is a massive problem with children in care. care homes are full at the moment we only have 4 open and a small amount of foster placements. I have been in and out of temporary homes, mainly because I'm gay. most of children that get kicked out will not be able to get a place making them home less. we need more support for the LGBTQI community and for the care system, so if you have a spare place don't be afraid to help someone, just because we are in the care system doesn't mean we are bad people.
It is so heartbreaking to know that this actually happens. I worked in a group home and was the personal RN for a boy/man. He was a real joy to take care of, he was a permanent resident there. He had many physical problems and needed round-the-clock care. I became good friends with the house mother and father. I learned a whole lot about foster care and some about adoption. I wish I could help every infant, toddler, child, adolescent, young adult who is in a situation like this. As I said, situations like this, and they are far too many, are really heartbreaking.
This was a very powerful piece. I love Karen, she is an amazing character. If I was in a position where I could help foster a teen, I definitely would.
Omg why do u guys keep making short awesome films??? Please make it full! Im begging! Feels so sorry for Ben and loving the social worker! Shes ❤️❤️❤️ Loved it so much! Sequel the soonest pls...???!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I've never been homeless, but I've experienced and continue to experience other issues that are really only issues because I'm gay. I need to get back into my mental health program, and try and find an LGBT+ support group as well, I really need that. My social worker was amazing, had her for four years and she helped me through many tough times in my life, but then she left the agency and they set me up with someone new like I can just start over. It takes me a long time to trust someone and not having my Ashley anymore sent me into a deep panic and depression and I went off my meds for the past several months. I need to get myself back together as best as I can and really try and get a relationship and a better, happier life. Thanks for making this movie.
My heart BLEEDS for this kid and the numerous ones like him...How can some people bear to look at themselves in the mirror? I can empathize with the social worker. You wish you can protect and shelter them all...
Wow - hits home - excellent movie - excellent acting. Josh Starkey does an amazing job. Hope he stars in the long version of the movie. The message in this film should move us all to do all we can to stop this unacceptable prejudice. If we fail to help then we are contributing to this horrific problem.
I need a part two of this or a full length feature film!! I love this short movie so much. The social worker is so dedicated and very human. It’s not just a job for her. The performances of the actors were so good! Please bring us part 2 or a full length film! So many youth go through this. Especially those apart of LGBTQ community. We need more stories like this to be told.
I was really wanting to see what happens to Ben, but it ended too soon. I hope this was just "part 1". This makes me want to become a foster parent. I'd let the kid know he's part of my family now. How can people just kick a kid out on the street like that? So heartless. Ben deserves more than what he's been given in life.
in Turkey host families are caring you like you are their child but u can't be openly gay probably :/ I'm from İzmir/Turkey and I came out to my parents. They suprised me, they said we are ur family and we are just afraid of to u get hurt because of u gay. It's hard to live as a gay man in Turkey but some of the cities are not generally homophopic, like İzmir. All of the people that I came out are supporting me and my biggest dream is just go abroad and live somewhere where is not generally homophopic and I want to find my man and then get married...I just wanted to write this,it made me remember that I need to stand strong
nobody cares about your fairytale life! Life is horrible and fucked up! Do you actually think you are born to this earth to be happy and have everything you want? lol pleez give me a break.
good luck mate. You'll find a guy I'm sure. Glad to hear they were supportive. Both myself and my younger brother is gay, and fortunately my parents are completely fine. There's no issue, if I bring a guy home it'd be the same as bringing a girl home, they don't see any difference, so long as I'm happy. Much love from Australia
I get sad every time I watch this film, even though I love how perfect it is! From the writing to the performances, it is a very well made movie. I can only say thanks and congrats.
I loved it! Hopefully we get to know what happened to the poor boy after this. The social worker was on point too, I liked how she seemed genunely worried about the kid.
Parents should be reminded that their love for their children is supposed to be unconditional and that no matter whether they are gay or str8 they have a duty of care to look after them. This was a well acted, well scripted piece that I enjoyed immensely. Thank you for the film.
Agree - being homeless is a helpless situation filled with a whole variety of experiences and problems - makes we very thankful for my home and for the parents who love me and my brothers even though they take no nonsense from us but are always sympathetic to the issues we face.
This is such a real situation. In New Zealand we have thousands of families waiting for a tiny slim chance to adopt when we are crying out for good foster parents. Heart breaking. Please consider fostering, it is an opportunity to change and even some times save a life. In many countries fostering is now open to same sex couples too.
jeremiah namoc, Noe'l brought the role of Karen to life so well. She's an amazing actress. There are many real life "Karen's" out there that inspired this character.
I am very sad about the story of ben. It is not his fault, that he is homeless, but the other people ignorance him. His social working woman has a deeping heart for him. I know, how is it to be an outsider in this life. Acting and the soundtrack are great !
No one can remove his problem of being homeless except himself. The state of being homeless has two facets; first, the psychological, an extreme longing for home, with the a mind boggling burden that no one will take care of you except yourself; and second, the emptiness, lack of food, toilet, clothing, shower, etc. etc. in the person's mind that increases day by day!
This show brought some memories rushing back. My family, their Pentecostal. Gay is forbidden. I was kicked out of home and my church. Lived on the streets. I found my path, oddly, because of what my church taught me. Be strong. Do good. I actually had a moral compass that helped me through my dark times. Never had a chance to make amends. Parents past away at 18. Some other stuff happened long before I was able to comprehend what gay was that, to this day, Eats me up inside. Somehow, I find comfort in the comments...knowing I wasn’t the only one.
my heart is broken. never have been hear something like this, i ignore. But i can give a little part of me for someone who need it. hope can i support to someone someday.
Working in a free gay clinic, dealing with suicidal guys 24/7, never knowing if and when: I worked a 24 hr shift, a guy who had already had a stroke from iv use: he missed his appointment: got to his building, the guardian let me in to the apt, bottles of drugs, started cpr, the er people got there in time...talk about stress
Heartbroken to see this. I am older, have no roommate, plenty of room, would have taken him in. He apparently has a good bf and needed to be able to be happy and continue with him. A clean cut good kid with potential.
Ben needs a good family and support. Doesn't need to be pushed from one place to another. I'd take Sheila off the 'good home list". A foster home needs to have support to all those who are placed with them not for just some of the children, but all. Karen is a GODSEND! She is a very special caring person. Wished all were like her.
The starting music is inspirational. It made me think that everyone's lives going to be better. I know sounds a bit cliche but that's what I thought when music started playing.
Tg This was a great film about foster kids. It showed just how true it is for the foster child. It shows they carry baggage with thim. But there are people that do love kids no matter what.
It didn't end sadly cos it hasn't ended. I wish we had more information to be able to make our own minds up about this situation. It is akin to only listening to a sad part of a great piece of music. We need the whole story, please.
The good thing is, in my country we hardly have homeless people (germany). Also Im happy that in the small town where i live 100 percent no one is homeless and I have never seen somebody who is. But I know it's a big worldwide problem and it needs way more attention.
After spending some time in Berlin I can definitely say you are wrong. There is an entire sub-culture of homeless young people, some of whom, are gay. Burying your head in the sand does not mean it isn't so!!!
that's why i'm not working as a social worker..i probably have die first with emotional trauma from my clients. even looking into animals who are abused and abandoned i already teary eyed! this movie brings a lot of eye opener that this gay people are made of flesh, blood and have emotions too. compassion should be pushed.
Love the concept. I hate the ending only because I understand the reasons as to why he left the group home. I really relate to this film and believe it should be made into a full length feature film.
This reminds me of my Social Worker. Mason was the same way caring, concerned, always looking out for my well being. We lost touch with each a for several years. Thankfully, we reconnected on Facebook Mason's no longer a Social Worker but we talk regularly.
What a kind and caring social worker. ALL SOCIAL WORKERS should be more like that. I know a wonderful DHS worker who has been so nice and wonderful. But, unfortunately, I have also seen people who are in Social Services who are about as caring as a rock. People who don't care about what happens to anyone but themselves have NO bussiness in that profession.
Gary - I have actually enquired about becoming a foster carer - but need a year to have a little more experience of youth work etc great film inspiring
Not homeless in particular but is most likely similar to Ben. I’ve been to different families just within my so called relatives and I experienced the worst. Cheer up to all those who are experiencing this kind of situation.
This story is incomplete it doesn't say what happened to the young man and if he was successful in finding his sister. There needs to be some continuation to the story.
Such a sad story... I'm about Ben's age in the film and I'm sorry it's one thing to be put into foster care but still that's very psychologically devastating and especially if you're being bumped around foster care, If I was in the foster care system and my Foster parents treating me like that I would be really hurt I don't know what I would do..... I would of probably done the same thing that Ben did.... run away, because Social workers say that they know it's hard but they don't know the true feeling unless they were in your shoes...... I'm proud of how strong Ben was... I hope your life has turned for the best.
Breaks my heart each time I watch it! Also "The System" does too! I am reminded how lucky I had it growing up, even with an older sister that still hates me for being born and my Parents letting her get away with the abuse I received/receive from her I still feel so lucky and have spent most of adult years helping others as much as possible. Before 9/11 I was in a very serious relationship and we both talked about these situations and how we planned on taking in older Children "that no one wanted". Oh what dreams we had. Maybe one day I find the right person again and keep that dream alive! I hope anyone that reads this thinks about trying to help at least one of these Amazing, yet tossed around Children. Please, xoxo
This may sound abit childishly , but that lady who cared for him made me cry 💔 😢😭 I'm literally speechless Because of her . May you long live and stay healthy Please share me the link of the full movie
This breaks my heart.I wish I was a billionaire to fix this kind of situation for young people and children. Evil people in this world. I wish every social worker was like the beautiful human being lady, who cared very much. It's hard all around. GOD BLESS these young homeless people and children out there. This hurts. I would love part two with a happy ending. I would love a happy ending for all homeless young people and children, every single one in this World. Wish I was very rich.
Tragedy and devastation as the film moves to its final moments, but I loved the perspective of it. I'm not saying those intimate times between boyfriends are boring, but I prefer to see new angles that are real and that expose real world dilemmas. I liked how they gave us an insight into Ben's relationship with Joe without actually having us all engaged in the action of how it all started.
Does anyone know if this has a sequel yet? Very good film. Well acted, excellent script and good cinematography. There are too many children out there lost and alone. So sad.
Jim Barnhart thank you Jim! The script for a feature length began, but due to my health issues it has been delayed. Hopefully have something soon. Thanks for the feedback!
The lady who helped him is now my favorite person
Agreed... Her concern for Him made me cry
I agree 100%. That lady deserves every good thing in the world
The lady is so me I love helping people but I hate when people take advantage of my kindness
I admire the lady who help him shes so pure in heart
Illuminu Illuminu thank you!
true..she's nice & support him alot.. ehee :')
Someone get Karen an award!! The amount of dedication and care she put in trying to help Ben...just amazing. Really fell in love with her character. And this was a beautiful story. It really highlights the struggle of homeless LGBTQI.
Thank you!
About the film, I'm facinated by the voice and US accent of the kid.
manuel atreide thank you for the positive feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed the film and got that the ending was trying to stay authentic.

Thank you for making this film.
Where to watch full movies online? I can't find it on amazon and itunes, still no idea where else to find
On-Ride Entertainment, LLC. will there be any sort of a sequel or a continuation of the story?
I hope so....hated the ending
whats wrong with those god damn boys who keeps bullying him😠
This sends a great message. Foster kids, especially those who are LGBT, face so many challenges. my heart is broken. never have been hear something like this, i ignore. But i can give a little part of me for someone who need it. hope can i support to someone someday.
Can i live with u
You have a good heart...
GOSH being a social worker in this type of situation with client who needs housing. Very stressful
Thu Yang, it's very stressful job!
I ❤️ this actress she is great! The story is sad and I hope he got a home
Karen was so sweet
Excellent production. Heartwrenching story. All too frequent.
This is a powerful story and an excellent film! Can't wait for the feature length version.
Rodney Sizemore thank you!
this is such a HEART BREAKING movie, and yes this guy (storyline) needs a happy ending!!!! I've been there, I know exactly how he feels.
MICHAEL N. BRAITHWAITE thank you!
What an exellent film! Love it.. thanks for sharing this beautiful short film
Bry Doronio thank you!!!
Heartbroken to see this. I am older, have no roommate, plenty of room, would have taken him in. He apparently has a good bf and needed to be able to be happy and continue with him. A clean cut good kid with potential.
gosh that was so sad and heartbreaking ~ conveying such a powerful message
Andrew, thank you
now that was some major acting! great plot, very sad and true to life. bravo.
The acting and storyline seems believable.
The starting music is inspirational. It made me think that everyone's lives going to be better.
I know sounds a bit cliche but that's what I thought when music started playing.
Tg
This was a great film about foster kids. It showed just how true it is for the foster child. It shows they carry baggage with thim. But there are people that do love kids no matter what.
This story and its actors are truly a masterpiece.
this movie has definitely inspired me to find a way to help teenagers in need. it is such a time of life when people need guidance and stability.
Karen is the social worker looking after Ben? If not mentioned, her nature doesn't resemble any less than a mother - a mother to Ben.
So sad, poor Ben. I had a feeling that this one would have a sad ending.
Veronica Anderson thank you for watching!
It was my pleasure!!!
It didn't end sadly cos it hasn't ended. I wish we had more information to be able to make our own minds up about this situation. It is akin to only listening to a sad part of a great piece of music. We need the whole story, please.
I think ben is cute
Love the reverse perspective. We need more films/clips like this
The good thing is, in my country we hardly have homeless people (germany).
@@peterturner1582 small town* not Berlin.
that's why i'm not working as a social worker..i probably have die first with emotional trauma from my clients. even looking into animals who are abused and abandoned i already teary eyed! this movie brings a lot of eye opener that this gay people are made of flesh, blood and have emotions too. compassion should be pushed.
Excellent short film. Thanks x
Brilliant and accurate portrayal of homelessness in the US but like so many short films it leaves us hanging in mid air.
Dissily Mordentroge thank you! Working on the feature, hoping you'll enjoy the full story as well!
I love that Social Worker , Wow what a great movie, thank you for posting.
Thank you!!!
Such beautiful movie...Ben and Karen...Both superb
Tip top production 👌 nice storyline and perfect cast !
Thank you
Ben is really cute. That aside, beautiful but sad movie. When I get a place of my own I want to be able to help kids like that.
what an amazing storyline 👍... we definitely need a sequel but with a happy ending of course 🙂
Thank you for the story. It puts a spotlight on gay youth. We need more stories like this to educate people. take care
Thank you for your positive feedback Rob Cunningham
This story is incomplete it doesn't say what happened to the young man and if he was successful in finding his sister. There needs to be some continuation to the story.
This end broke my hart... please make a sequel, this wonderful film deserve a better ending.
PS: I love Karen... she realy care about Ben
K'med Vic thank you
Such a sad story...
This is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. I love this 😍💕
Thank you!!!
Apart from the clashes, that group home was really nice.
Did u know everyone's looking for you esp Karen.
Josh Starkey does a remarkable job. I wish him luck in his acting career.
tubester46 thank you.
Nice film. And this was shot around the corner from my house
This may sound abit childishly , but that lady who cared for him made me cry 💔 😢😭 I'm literally speechless Because of her . May you long live and stay healthy
Please share me the link of the full movie
One of the most powerful things I have ever watched
Red Rose thank you!
Thanks so much for this important film! Props to gay kids everywhere, and to all who care for our safety. Great to see Philly as well!
Thank you sharing this film .i like both of them
Instant love for the social worker chick
Wow..this one is just wonderful..
being homeless is not a good thing. you go to people you trust, people always think they can judge gays when they really can't. it's not right
Beautiful! Part 2 please!!!
WHAT A PLACE TO END AN AWESOME STORY! I hope you will finish it give it more of an ending.
Ronnie Hartley - Savill we are working on it this summer. Thank you for the positive feedback!
Yay! looking forward to see how it ends.
AmeRicanItalian Israel thank you
I loved this. Poor Ben 😢
Karen is so Motherly I love her 💗
Please make a good ending sequel
Tragedy and devastation as the film moves to its final moments, but I loved the perspective of it. I'm not saying those intimate times between boyfriends are boring, but I prefer to see new angles that are real and that expose real world dilemmas. I liked how they gave us an insight into Ben's relationship with Joe without actually having us all engaged in the action of how it all started.
known known thank you!
I love this film. The two leads were amazing.
Thank you
I love this!!Karen is wonderful 😃😃
Their acting is soo good
Poor Ben a family is supposed to love one another is too sad to see that there are people who do this. The woman is so kind to help her as she does!
Heart-breaking. But thank you.
