    While in the Navy, I was stationed at Keflavik, Iceland in 1957 (I was 20) and had an opportunity to visit Akureyri in the northern part of the island. On a Saturday night our group visited a club a short distance out of the city. The Icelanders were so generous and welcoming. When the club closed, two young guys invited me, alone, to visit and stay overnight at their place. When we left the club, our first stop was at a pier where a Danish ship was tied up. One of my young friends went aboard and bought a fifth of Aalborg whisky. The rest of our friendship consisted of drink, conversation and sleep. The rest of my life (I am 83, now) I have never forgot those two young men. Each of us knew we were gay and enjoyed our short time together. If either of you are still around and read this, please leave a message.

    The real victim in here is the bully's boyfriend, poor guy.

    • @jongeduard
      @jongeduard 5 років тому +43

      I think, in the end, a conclusion is that nobody turned out to be perfect and everyone makes mistakes, creating a very sad situation. The big bully was very mean and heartless to the victim, but may be explained by the big fears he had that others would discover that he is gay. The bully's boyfriend did nothing against it, but of course he was scared for losing his lover. And finally, as a revenge, the bullied boy with the camera took the decision to out both guys towards the entire school, a powerful, but very cruel thing to do.

      Agreed, assumptions have proven far too many times, many are quiet people. I have known many young people who have been bullied due to assumptions that were far off, their lives had often reached unhealthy stages, many had completed or ended, which led me to widen my studies and go back to College and get the proper degrees.
      Today I have been here studying film posted where like-minded young adults frequent. I have passed out hope and resolve and hope to reach as many as possible who will look around and find those who need a friend to listen and help them adjust. Can these young people count on you?

    I kinda like the ending. Leaves it open to interpretation and for people to wonder about it. With that we can know more about who tries to give it a guess. Well, for me, both the photographer and the bully did wrong and had bad decisions, and at the end, also both realized that. So I think maybe the bully was willing to make this waters under the bridge and perhaps a friendship started or even something a little more than that. (PS.: I ship them haha [PS2.: yes, when you less expect, a shipper emerges from nowhere 😂])

      Iver Jensen And keep producing material of this quality: good script, good and realistic storyline, good acting, and a nice twist, with the homophobic bully's actually being a 'closeted' gay. But please, now and then, an uplifting ending. Videos of LGTB life-stories often (too often) end tragically.

On BBC today, there was a program about parental intervention in Iceland that has seen a huge drop in the alcohol consumption of teens, the nice family time they spend together, a new type of trust between parents and kids and the kids' friends and their parents.

    • @alwaysuseless
      @alwaysuseless 4 роки тому +5

      @Alexa - No, it rightly works the other way. If you want to keep an important part of who you are private, don't bully people. On the other side, don't out someone without cause. What the bully got is called poetic justice and an unexpected opportunity for maturation. The bully's boyfriend got to be out, as he wanted. And Pétur got to stop dreading going to school. The do-nothing, you seem to advocate is neither realistic nor admirable, and would have just left their world in the sorry state it was in prior to the reveal.

    • @alexgref195

    At the end, if he actually told him that he’s the one who took the pictures, then he’s gonna need an emergency ambulance to the ER. If the bully was willing to punch his boyfriend in the face (the guy he loves, as he said in the film) on the mere assumption that it was he who took the picture, imagine what he’s going to do to this guy, who he doesn’t have any connection with and sees as an inferior person. 😣
    If I were the main character, I’d never say I did it, then I’d delete all traces of those pics and never talk to the bully again, because if a friendship develops, the truth will inevitably surface and ruin everything. Also, you should *never* out someone, it could have horribly serious consequences you cannot possibly predict, especially in homophobic settings.

    Poor boy. Great Dad. Bully shouldn't have been so mean. Also felt bad for Bully's boyfriend.
    Poor boy could've handled it differently, but I think he was mistreated by ALL for such a long time that doing what he did was the only way he could see to retalerate.

    I see this as a role reversal. The bully was a piece of shit, yes, but once he got hurt like had hurt others he seemed to change. He also punched the one he loved out of rage and I bet that hurts more than anything. He got his punishment. I was feeling for Petur but after the shit he pulled, maybe there was a reason for him being always alone. He not only spied on a private conversation, he took pictures and posted them to not only hurt the bully but the boyfriend too. That's pretty creepy and evil. I can understand wanting revenge for the one who wronged you but you are a piece of shit when you hurt innocents along the way. After the ending, I feel whatever happened, they both would get what they deserved.
    The only ones I loved were the boyfriend for standing up for himself and the father for being such a loving and supportive parent.

    Liked it, gotta keep it real, even good people make bad choices all the time, especially at that age, it's the only way to grow. At least he got the balls to own up to what he did, clearly he regrets it.

    Ho no. Whoop there goes my respect for the main character. You don't out someone who doesn't want to be outed. It can put them in serious danger. Neeeever do that.

    • @alwaysuseless

      Don't expect someone whose life you're making miserable to "respect" your privacy. What the bully got was poetic justice, not to mention an opportunity to grow up. His ex-boyfriend got to come out, as he wanted. And Pétur got to stop dreading going to school. Never-ever-out--someone is inflexible and illiberal b.s. Pétur had very good cause and did the right thing under the circumstances. Overall, he made their world better than the sorry state it was in before the reveal.

    There is an enormous gap(s) in this film. Differences like these shown are not solved overnight. It was wrong for Pétur to expose his nemesis as much as it was wrong to bully Pétur. With that said, I cannot imagine why the closeted boy would not have wrapped the camera around Pétur's neck. The part that is missing is how did they finally come to terms with their human failures? What did they say to each other to make amends for their cruel behavior toward each other? What finally happened to the cruel boy and his boyfriend? At such a young and difficult age a young person may commit suicide from being bullied OR being "outed".

    Is hard to describe this kind of movie. Inbetween is more than one storyline. Around the actors drew the hole world include schooldays. The actors who play the father disrupting not the son. And still at the end of this movie comes from both an apology. Otherwise, an open ending is a good ending. Thanks for this movie I like it

    I'm not so sure how to feel about the Pétur character. He was gay, and bullied for sure. So he knows how isolated and ostracized being gay can be, and he still chose to OUT the bully with the photograph. Yes, it was for revenge...but is revenge a good thing to seek? As it turned out, the bully only treated him badly because everyone knew Petur was gay. They did not know about his other boyfriend, as they kept it a secret. When you think about it, the bully was so hung-up about being gay, that it actually caused him to bully another gay guy just to use as a cover! That's pretty bad, so I guess he deserved to be outted. I enjoyed the film. ツ

      The Informer Sound a lot like homophobic conservative republican politicians that back anti gay legislation only to later be outed for getting caught committing a gay act. This is the revenge I love.

    • @gaboltl
      @gaboltl 6 років тому +37

      You're just assuming Pétur was gay when it wasn't even implied in the film, also the fact that the other guy was bullying him as a defense mechanism because he was gay himself doesn't erase the fact that he was an asshole so I didn't feel sorry for him and he deserved that revenge.

    • @superbatfirenze

      i guess it somehow has to be like, when you hate somebody so bad you can t even bear him staring at you.... most of the time you recognized something familiar and disturbing in him, that you don t want to see, that s why you destroy it...... in this case, the bully was makin fun of the little gay, and as amatter of case, he was also trying to deny his own way to be by doing that, assuring himself ,that he was a man...
