- With Tormek's patented KJ-45 Centering Knife Jig, you'll get symmetrical bevels with the same angle on both sides of the knife, regardless of the thickness or geometry of the blade. Whether you're sharpening a regular kitchen knife or a thicker, tapered hunting knife, you'll get the same results on both bevels of the knife without needing to reset the jig. The KJ-45 Centering Knife Jig fits most types of knives: household knives, chef's knives, craft knives and knives for hunting and fishing. It also works for the woodcarver's straight drawknives and the gardener's pruning shears.

Looks sleek and clean, smart solution to the problem we've been having woth thicker blades. However I would have liked a built in pin pivot point for complex blade curves. Looks like the small notches between the back and the clamp also have a flat face towards the universal support bar... Maybe you can buy an extra plastic part with a built in pin pivot and just change it on the clamp? 😊👍
We're happy you like it! We like it a lot as well. Great looks and functionality 👌
Interesting ideas. We'll see what the future may bring. Stay Sharp!
bought the KJ-45 and here are the first impression after sharpening a few knives:
the KJ-45 is mostly made out of plastic. So it's much lighter than the "conventional" holder. It feels less sturdy, which doesn't mean it really is...
Call me dumb, but it happened to me more than once that when turning from one side to the other I placed the holder against it's forward pin instead of the one at the back. You would think this is something very difficult to happen, but if you concentrate on the knife it can and will happen! I bet I won't be the only one.
Needles to say the result was less than interesting. So at first you need to get used to the new holder and pay attention when you switch from one side to the other. Something you did not have to care with the previous one.
Other than that the KJ-45 does what it is supposed to, keeping the knife centered and resulting in a perfectly symmetrical bevel on both sides.
Is it something necessary? Only if you sharpen knives which exceed 3mm in thickness. Theoretically. Practically 4mm will work just fine with a very minimum difference on the two sides with the "old" holder.
People have sharpened trillions of knives with the conventional holder producing excellent results.
Some explanation as to how this works differently or better than the standard jig would make this vid worth watching. As it is I’m no better off and wasted 2 mins of my life watching and commenting.
Thanks for commenting so we can share this 50 minute long Live Sharpening Class covering the updated features: ua-cam.com/video/JFHqQg5wZEg/v-deo.html I hope it answers your questions and that you don't regret your 2 minutes of commenting 😊

I think we were all looking forward to that. I hope that the price alone will be nice thanks to the amount of plastic =)
Happy to hear that! Stay tuned for more information - and Stay Sharp!
A great improvement of a already great tool!
Thank you! We hope you guys will like it! :D
a long time coming !
☺😚
Where's the jig micro adjust?
Hi!
We decided to "design away" the length-adjustment for the jig and rely solely on the MicroAdjust of the Universal support for angle setting. It is a much more reliabe method and it will not change during sharpening, like the SVM-45 Knife Jig could. Hope you'll like it :D

Just bought the T8, the knife jig, scissors jig, axe jig. Cost me $1736 NZD. Unfortunately in New Zealand they don't have the KJ-45 yet. Is this a necessary purchase? Just that I want to buy the long knife jig instead , but if the KJ-45 is a major improvement should I get that instead? Cheers.
For most knives the SVM-45 works perfectly fine. The KJ-45 has the big advantage that both sides are always symmetrical as the knive gets centered in the jig.

If this is a better jig why supply the inferior one?
Also some explanation as to how this is different and how it centers would be helpful.
Отличная штука👍💪
Спасибо!
Thank you!

Can someone please explain why and how this is an improvement?
With thicker blades the edge would not be in line with the jigs handle axis and the bevels would be uneven
@@RasmusPetterssonVik ahhh, I understand now!! Thanks so much for taking the time to explain

Tormek has never invented a jig for violin making and repair knife. 98% of violin makers have Tormek but this company doesn’t effort the customer in our field.. I can do my violin knife sharpening only with free hand.
