  • One of the necessary machine operations to install a stroker crankshft in an air-cooled VW is clearencing the case so that the connecting rods don't hit or bind the crankshaft.     about 4 min in the vid you moved the camera and I thought the table moved and I jumped back expecting to have parts and piece flying out at me. boy, will I be up a creek when they have 3D youtube. thanks for the good vids John -Stumpy

    yup, i can confirm that this looks and most likely functions way better than my case after i clearanced it by hand...

    Geez..I wished you showed us what it looks like when the job was finished when all the metal chips were cleaned away...I'm inerested in getting this job done to my case halves.

    Am amazed that no form of coolant is utilized here.
    OEM VW cases are die cast: thus they contain residual sand & magnesium fires are very common when dry machining.

    I'm sorry, but while I find it great that someone is making the effort to inform about these things, the execution of this video and the lack of background information (like showing the case when it's done and has c&r inside turning for one) make it ABSOLUTELY USELESS! Don't mean to be negative, just my POV

      He wasn't machining it for you to copy his work asswipe he was showing what he does for a living but don't worry John passed away of a heart attack so I guess no more free videos for you
