To everyone that says that this is fake...
    You are right.
Even though the demonstration is very good and clearly the people in this video know that they are doing, this style of aikido is just for demonstration.
The uke (attacker) in this video is a trained guy that knows how to follow his partners movements so he will not hurt him self. Normally in a street fight aikido will not help if you cant throw a punch or two, aikido will be effective only if the attacker is perfectly controlled by your movement, also aikido is not only to make the attacker breakfall (to throw him with a flip) because if he knows kunf fu or any other martial art he will try to kick you with the back of his leg when he fly past your head. Actually with those techniques you can break your opponent's arm or fingers or you can make him surrender with a correct lock that will drive him insane from the pain so you can disarm him. This video is clearly just to demonstrate the "hard style" moves.
Aikido works but not like this.
Just remember that fighting is always the last option, every martial arts specialist wishes to his students to never have to do the techniques in real life

This martial art was never intended for unarmed combat. The reason they telegraph it is because they are trying to simulate the swing of a blade or other weapon. If you were a samurai and found yourself without your katana. Aikido would be very effective.

Yessss real Aikido not the most effective but far more effective than people think. Some throws are similar in Sumo as well I recently(5 years) fell in love with grappling

These techniques with Atemi will be very effective. Artemi opens the doors for throws and wrist locks and other Aikido techniques.

I remember watching him at a tournament. He was just sitting down watching everyone with his arms crossed. I thought it was weird because no one was trying to talk to him. Heck no one was anywhere near him.

See the pressure on that wrist that's the difference.

Its just kata, nothing else... I do see the flaws though, and that being uke is not always off balance or up on his toes before the throw... Thats always a good indication the technique is working... Its what's missing in modern aikido...

That's a sideways breakfall taught to students receiving the technique so that the person performing the technique can follow through without twisting their wrist the wrong way. The person is jumping to avoid getting hurt.

The moves work just not like this I've done tomiki aikido for 23 years . It works this is of course fake .. the uke is highly trained to attack in a certain way .fall in a certain way ... this is a demo ... and it isn't impressive. . Aikido is only as good as the attacks you are training to defend against and deliver .. they will never get it .. that's why I don't play there game any more.
Guess what I can now make aikido work
    why ?
Because we box, grapple , kick ,elbow knee.. we have no intention of letting you throw us and we do not run at each other with our arms out ..
Aikido does work but not like this ..

Fake! The dude he is doing the moves to is an amazingly trained stunt man. In reality the resistance will be much greater! The attack wasnt a real life attack its made for demonstration i personally dont think u can use any of this in a real street fight with no rules! Sorry but great video....very entertaining✌ #silatistheway

Thank you for your insight. You are right it is an Aikido demonstration. It isn't silat, we have featured lots of very good and fine silat too : )

Followyourideas (Aikido Shodokan) yes really. There was no move to stun your attacker to make him lose focus in his mission! Witch is to attack and hurt you, he simply floats out a none realistic puch and u follow up by doing the move. In real life he would reset much faster from a missed punch or go straight for a take down of some sort.

abo-dreadz ISRAEL sir these are not techniques to apply in a street fight or in an mma cage. These techniques develop aikido concepts. Timing, distance, joint manipulation, keeping the center, body movements as a whole, use of the opponents force. Don't judge others martial arts because you don't understand what's going on. When I see a bjj guy fighting I don't say this is stupid and not realistic. Why don't they kick or punch the other on the face. Or why don't the boxers kick. It's unrealistic. Please stop the ignorance.

In Judo, Shodokan aikido, BJJ there are three different ways for practicing budo. (OK Budo is basicilly used about japanese arts but i think every art wich has a deeper meaning and kind of "life long way" attitude can be called budo.)
Kata, randori, shiai. This was about "kata" when uke and tori have their own roles. There is a way how to attack and a way how to deal with it.
This was not about streetfight but there is nothing fake in this video.
In aikido and judo uke does the UKEMI wich is created for the safety.
For example if you don't jump in kotegaeshi you will break your wrist.
In kata you learn timing, distance, technique and after that you can test these things in randori. After that you can try it in competition. Self defence is totally different deal. It's about surviving.
If you still have doubts, please go to Shodokan Honbu, Osaka and you will find out that these guys are real deal. I had my doubts about aikido but after i tried it i was amazed.
I have been practicing martial arts for 25 year including judo, bjj, kickboxing, karate etc. but i have to say that SHODOKAN HONBU instructors are not FAKE !!!
