Tryna play some pokemon during this apocalypse hopefully this week
Fucking Same can’t charge the 3ds xl makes me so mad
I replaced my charger port and was so happy thanks to this video. I replaced my battery too. Cause I got into pokemon games and I was so happy that I would be able to play it while at work during any downtime and I dropped it for the first time ever and it landed on the corner now my right trigger button don’t work so now I got to find the parts to fix that.
This was probably the best video I have ever seen in regards of clarity and quality....
Thank you very much Sir! The charging port on my 3DS got messed up years ago. I kept it because I thought it would be a semi-simple fix, but I couldn't find a video that showed how to do it. Until now, that it. Also your commentary and explanation are great! I don't know how to solder but your video gives me hope that I could do it myself. Thank you again and have a great day/evening/night!
extremely helpful esp with the zoom and the clarity! was able to remove the broken port without a problem!
Thanks for this, worked like a charm. What kind of flux is that @ 3:25? Mine is liquid but your gel type would be helpful for some repairs.
Something that I just found out today is that even if the cord port is broken, if you use a charging cradle, it can still charge. The official, and unofficial, charging docs ( There are different ones for different types of 3ds ) connect to two metal pads on each side of the port which allow charging even if the center is broken.
Wow, thank you so much for sharing this! Was bummed that the new 3DS XL I bought online had an iffy charge port. Found the Best Buy brand cradle on eBay for $12 - thank you!
Can you elaborate? Where can I find them?
for some reason the charging cradle does not work for me, so im not sure if its just a charging port problem
@@fruitynyanko7316it’s the battery more than likely. I changed my broken power port as in this video and found after swapping the battery my 3ds charges again. Hope you get it fixed
THANK YOU SO MUCH I found my old 3ds xl and it never turned on and the problem is the power haha
That’s great! Glad you fixed it😀
I think a 6 year old could have done the job I did better..but I dun did it! Thank you for this straight forward tutorial. I fixed my buddies charging port and she couldn't be happier. Until after years of not being turned on and discovering the screen had been cleaned with alcohol ...just ordered a new top screen. hahahahaha.
Definitely thought this was a channel with like 600k subs. Great quality my dude.
I don’t have a soldering iron. This wouldn’t work without one right? Or is there another way to do it.
The knowledge is great, your style and approach are even better. Thank you.
Thank you! I really appreciate that
Really helpful video! Your commentary on what you're doing is super useful as well, especially if you're still starting out with soldering and whatnot!
Great video! Any tips on resources for learning basic soldering skills.
hi! i’ve bought all necessary parts to do this to fix my nostalgic 3ds, except the soldering iron. what watt would you recommend? im looking at 15?
I have question is the NEW 3DS Charging pin compatible into OLD 3DS? Thank you it will be a big help
I wouldn't have been able to fix my 3ds without this video. Thank you so much for uploading this!
Can I replace it with a micro usb port? What might be the complications here? Also Do you know what are the connections 5 & 6, Are these also power inputs?
Im sure you could. But you would need to run jumper wires and make an alternative mounting method. It would be a fun project for sure!
New sub! Great how to video and explanation is clear! Keep iT up
Hey what tools did you use for the soldering and what pastes as well
Where did you get the part you used?
Yeah this is too advanced for me… any advice for hiring a professional?
So, when I was taking the old port off, a pad on far left side came with it? Do I need this back on the board?
Link on buying all the solder items? Never soldered or de soldered before
replacing a charging port in 2023. thank you for the tips 👍
Hi! I need your help! 1 and 2, which are the athode and anode points?
Where do you buy charge port replacements from?
I was souldering the port off and broke one of the pads when the port came off, can I still just continue the process or should i just give up? If you were wondering which pad it was the 6th pad the one on the far left.
whats an actual TRUSTED place to get a good quality charging port replacement part???
I went down the same rabbit hole lol, the best way is to buy another broke 3ds but with a working charge port.
i cannot get the port to 'snap' back in. i started with the corner like you said and it seemed to lower. but i cant get the back plate to fully snap on, so i assume i messed up somewhere
Video was a huge help thanks a lot!
I have like 3 3DS's with messed up Charging ports. When I went to go try get it fixed they said that I'd end up paying the same price as simply replacing the entire unit
Thank you for this tutorial ! One useful tip :
- If the 3ds charges on certain angles the charge port is just loose from the motherboard . Solder on those loose points and it works just fine. No need to replace the port if that's the case.
Any link to the correct charge port for a 2012 model 3ds/XL? All I can find are the New model ports which are taller and must be trimmed for the case to close properly on old models
I'm struggling as well. So hard to find a donor board
is the flux necessary? I don't have flux right now and it's hard to get those these past few days because of the virus. Cheers mate! New Subscriber here :)
The Great Heisenberg thanks! Yes, flux is 100% needed for this. Without it the solder won’t flow
@@profixerr6275 So i couldn't fix it without flux?
The Great Heisenberg not fully. You might be able to get the solder to flow just enough but it will be very difficult or impossible to do and have it work properly
How much money does it cost for u to fix the console input
I meant port
Thanks for the pro tips!
Or you can just usa a universal battery charger just open the back and remove the battery
Move where?
How
@@toppu10animes he meant by using external charger that you can buy from online shop . So you used that charger to charge the battery and put it back again inside nintendo .
My charging port on a spare 3ds is ducked up
oh my fucking christ why i never thought about that..
is it like...safe and all? because the 3ds battery is kinda bigger than phone ones
Thank god we all know how to disassemble already!
Take out the visible outside screws and then the back comes off like a Tupperware.
Just be careful with the trigger flexes, they are still attached.
@@profixerr6275 k i'm gonna try
lol thx
Well if you dont have experience to dissamble things, you shouldnt be touching a soldering iron yet.
I know a little and ill be removing that pcb off the casing as i think ill burn the plastics around it if im not fast enough
@@cleangoblin2021 i was being sarcastic since he doesn't say how to
Hey can you try to fix my 3ds XL,it has stopped charging and I got a new cord for it
I wish I had found this a year ago. Great video and easy to follow. I've got a draw full of old DS' that stopped charging. Going to have fun tomorrow!! Do general hardware stores have all the material I would need, or do I need to go to a specialty electronics store?
mom2mmpt ifixit sells this kit that is a good basic starter kit. It’s only $50 & that includes a soldering iron. It’s a very basic kit though so if you plan on doing it thing’s like this more often, you might want to upgrade the soldering iron but otherwise it has what you need without breaking the bank. Alternatively, you can use this kit as a guide to either go to the store & try to locate the same items yourself or buy them separately on Amazon. Most hobby stores should carry some of them & a good hardware store will have what you can’t find at the hobby store
www.ifixit.com/Store/Tools/Soldering-Workstation/IF145-238
do you have a link too the one you used?
Hey man I have no idea if you will respond but you seem to be really good at this, I was wondering if i could send my 3Ds to you since I dont trust myself fixing it. Its been sitting in a drawer for a long time, also the back triggers and touch pads need repairs. Of course I would pay so if you could let me know that would be cool.
"Easy"

Easy IF you have soldering experience.

@@profixerr6275 Hi ProFixerr. Is it possible to send my motherboard to you to solder in the zif connector? I am trying to find someone that can repair my new 3ds xl mother board.
I tired fixing it because I needed a new housing bottom cover but messed up those ribbon connectors. So I have 4 connectors that need to be fixed.
I went ahead & bought those connectors & need to wait for them to be delivered. While waiting I'm looking for a repair shop that does that?
So do you take in repair orders?
Soooo my charging port won't charge at all, we replaced the charging port and it was working for a little but then when my dad put the cover on it stopped. 😭
Did you buy the charging port from a trusted site?
And did you check the batteries?
Also is the 3ds alive right now
maybe you didn't solder it properly? putting the case back may have moved the port to the point it doesn't charger or maybe you accidentally disconnected the battery or some other cable
All I had to do was put some more solder on the two middle pins on mine since there was none
Brother, I want you to help me honestly... I have the same device... It was working well... But one day I wanted to charge the device, but I did a charger with a high voltage and I heard a small explosion sound from the device... And it has not worked since that day... Is it possible for you to help me find out the problem and fix it... Without changing the card completely?
But i have Nintendo ds xl
It sounds like you fried it by using too high voltage, that's probably a different issue than just the charging port. I know very little on this topic, but assuming it's not completely bricked, I'd probably look at replacing the battery first, since that small exploding noise might've been the battery? If that doesn't work then I'd take it to a professional or just buy a new one. NEVER use a charger with a voltage higher than the recommended amount for the electronic device you are charging, in a more severe scenario it could even start an electrical fire.
Superb! I did it. Thanks
hey I need to find a new port do you know where I can get on
I know the problem to my ds just don’t know how to remove the broken screws the top of the screw is messed up
Great video !
thank you very much. i love this.
My 2ds xl is not charging. The orange light won't show up and I tested it on my brother's charger to see if it is a charger issue but its not working as well. I tried wiggling it when its in the port but nothing is working. I ordered a new battery for it. But is it actually a battery issue? I don't have the money for a new DS.
it is likely the charge port, i had the exact same issue, it was briefly fixed by sticking a wooden toothpick into the holes that the prongs rest in to make them perk up and connect with the cable, wasn’t permanent fix (as i’m watching this video) but enough for one or two charges, another comment says using a charging cradle may work?
@@SunnyCress I just got the port to work, now it just won't turn on.
@@BladeGirl92 have you charged it? i don’t want to seem patronising but it might need charging to full to work
also it’s def not a permanent fix if you know how to solder/ have a friend who does all the equipment you need to replace the port (minus the soldering iron) cost me about £25
@@SunnyCress its charging but no blue light. I got a extra battery if it is.
I have a 3ds with a broken charger hole, and a 3ds with the blue light of death. I just charge the broken one and switch the batteries
Thank you now i can finally play smash
I need to fix mine but id9nt have the tools or the time to because of school
Would it be better to do with with a heat gun and solder paste?
is this work on a 3ds xl?
Is it called coder?
Oooh thanks
Nice video! 💯💯💯🎥🎥🎥
Thanks!
man im so pissed my charging port broke on my shiny red xl with the c stick and z buttons however my hacked emulated 3ds A button broken and i dont want to swap parts from either of them and it seems hard to find any place to get oem replacements i would rather my A button be fixed first but then i saw its like 20 steps inlcuding taking off the mother board and sawdering so screw that
wait isn’t it just replacing the abxy board? i may be wrong but i opened up my 3ds yesterday and the abxy board was only connected via 2 ribbon cable that are easy to remove
I have none of these stuff 😩😫
No wonder they always break.
Sloppy nothing stops the port from getting pushed in beside the solder joints
They do have adhesive under it to keep it in place.
And the game card reader wasn’t working either
"First you want to do is apply flux" guess I can't fix mine
I hope this works when I try it because the people who wants to fix it wants to charge 150$
Did it work?
Went full dum dum mode and bought the new 3ds port instead of the older 3ds port
I need help to fix my charging port
Hey Luis, we can help you with that. Are you still need your port replaced?
I haven’t used my 3ds or dsi in years, I just cleaned out my old childhood bedroom and found both with both of their chargers, light grey compared to the regular ds dark grey. Anyway I have been trying to plug the correct chargers into the correct devices for the past few hours and they will not go. I am literally about to kill myself over pure frustration that logic and reason seems to have gone out the window in my reality right now. Idk what the fuck is going on but literally the correct chargers seem to be too large for the correct devices and will not go in. I know they are the correct chargers because I have the normal ds charger to compare to them. What the fuck am I supposed to do. I am starting to think I Mandela effected into a new reality where DSI chargers are 1% larger than they normally would be.
theres some scab on ebay doing this repair for £14 free return postage to how do fools like that make money?
Damn
Where do I get a new charging port ???
