I gotta thank you for all the videos you make. I was able to use your video to replace a hdmi port on a ps4 pro. Your flux and low melt solder really helped a lot.
It was still hard because of how tiny everything is but I was bale to get it back working.
Game console repairs have been coming in like crazy during the pandemic.. I'm working on a few other videos right now, + I have a few others up. It's been fantastic!
Fantastic video. I'm based in Australia. My son's Switch charges but won't display on the tv. There's clearly an issue with the unit but it's not under warranty anymore. What could be the problem? I've tested it on other docks and no luck there. Hope you can help
Thanks
The simplicity you get repairs done blessing from Dominican Republic
Awesome tutorial, one PIN was bent to the right on the charging port, used a toothpick to adjust gently. Fixed my switch now charges.
Hi, thanks for your videos. Very good. Congratulations. Although I don't know English, I defend myself with subtitles. What microscopes do you use?
I’m glad to see your video. For some reason UA-cam wasn’t showing any of these new videos
Nice work, with Nintendo Switches you should also confirm it’s fast-charging as well as normal charging
I have a question? By any chance you guys receive any Electronics from other states besides where you guys are set up in California. And if you do what is it that I have to do to send my device over to your shop and how would I receive it because I live in Wisconsin and I am having troubles trying to find someone who can repair this device of mine which is a Nintendo switch
Hi, What equiptment are you using to check if you have voltage? Also what equiptment would you recommend to charge the switch battery (externally)?.
Also when applying the chip, did you only have solder on the centre or did you pre solder the pins on the chip?
You are the man! I appreciate your videos very much . Thank you for your videos
What heat and airflow setting were you using on the hot air station? And what is the maximum time you would keep heat on the board? I have a broken switch, but I do not want to damage any components by heating the board for too long.
21:11 Can you please explain how are you testing for short? You have one probe to grund (some metal or hole on the mobo) and with the other one, you test both ends of a capacitor. Why should it beep one one end and not the other?
one side of the caps are connected to ground, while the other side is connected to the chip. Usually, when you have multiple shorts on caps connected to one IC, the IC could be bad. In more rare cases (when dealing with lower voltage lines like where those caps are connected), the caps could be bad. From my experience, I have never came across a switch with an m92t issue that also had a dead cap around it as well. It is possible, but rare.
@@DOverton252 Thanks! Can I ask you something further?
Ok and why does it normally beep (has continuity) on one end of the capacitor and on the other not? Which end has connectivity? The negative or the positive one? Or is it not polarized?
Dan Stoian when checking for shorts to ground with continuity mode via DMM, you typically put one probe on a ground point, and test with the other probe to see if what you’re testing is grounded. In this case, only one side of the cap should be grounded (the side that is opposite of the m92t chip). The reason the cap is supposed to only short to ground on one side is because only one side of that double sided cap is connected to ground
@@DOverton252 The chip he is replacing in the video is TYPE-C USB POWER DELIVERY CONTROLLER?
When you're looking at filter capacitors, their job is to dump excess or fluctuating voltage to ground. One side of the cap will be on ground, the other will be on the open line. So in continuity, one probe on the cap, the other on the heat shield which is grounded, one side of the cap will beep, because its on ground. the open side of the IC should never hit ground except in a failure, so shouldn't beep. essentially 2 beeps is bad, and if multiple caps are giving 2 beeps, its not likely every cap has blown, leading to the IC.
Sir , how muchheat and air explain plz
Excellent work. Sir may I want to know how much maga pixel camara use for microscope. That's have Excellent quality image... waiting for replay. Thanx.
My switch charges all the way to 100% but when I unplug from usbC dock or the official wallplug from wall it turns off immediately. So basically no hand held unless plugged in. Runs if docked. Any idea??
Nice work sir but where did u put negative probe to find shorting.
There so much I learn from your videos may allah bless you more n more
🤗🤗🤗
Feeling so satisfied now....
I was just thinking 2hen you were going to replace the chip....WHY R U NOT RECONFIRMING THE SHORT...and then u heard me and did it.....😁😁😁😁
I have a question, how the "beep" sound tell if there is a short?
I like your explanation
What is the CAMERA/MAGNIFIER ASSEMBLY you are using to record the boards?
Hi ;)
You are one skilled electrition!
I love watching your videos very much.
Can you.please share the following detail so I can learn from this instructive videos some more:
* maybe you have a tip on selecting the right nozzle & temp & speed for the right chip (solder & desolder)
* when a cap is dead and you don't know it's value, like the 3 caps near the power IC M9xT36, how can it be replaced (assuming you don't have donner board)
* what Microscope and max zoom level does yours have? x180, x300?
Thanks!!
Do you have any suggestions for my problem that the switch charges with a normal (slow) USB-A to C cable but not with a USB-C to USB-C cable (I think it’s PD then?). My thoughts were it is either the charging port or the power IC, that should handle the PD, right?
Awesome video!! My charge IC has gone and i need to replace it, but i cant seem to find a budget microscope, can anyone advise a cheap microscope that would be ok? Would love some advice!!

How did you think it was that chip ? The buzzer was beeping on the other chip ?
with which temperature you work with that heatgun?
Love when Big Boss gets some camera time 😂
good video
i like it
Why you didn't use your Flir Camera? May be you have to give a steady voltage in order to locate the short and due to short it is not possible and that's why ampmeter shuts itself down. Right?
Not needed in this scenario.
Hi, I am trying to identify which capacitor is short, I have a multi meter, but how the "beep" sound tells me if its short or not? thank you!
I really enjoy this channel
yes good job..
Bom back to life love your work
Sei bravissimo.... Complimenti... Domenico da Palermo. Sicilia
I have lenovo laptop. It doesn't work when the charger and battery are connected. It works only when the battery is disconnected and the charger is connected. How can I be sure if it is because of the battery or ic charger? Thank you so much bro
How much do u charge if I send that motherboard in to replace the charge IC??
What were you using to test it without the battery
That video it really help me, that was my problem.
hi why you put red probe on the ground and test capacitor. why not the ground probe on the ground and test capacitor.
can you share sorroundings smd resistors around M92 on switch OLED? I lost two of them and I have no clue what to buy... :(
What did you charge for this fix?
What kind of soldered do you use for the chips
الله معك مع السلامة 👍
whats is the programm that you use for nintendo switch?
i took mine to a repair shop. they tried changing the battery, and power ic chip but it would still not turn on. they said the charging port looked fine. do you have any idea what else it could be?
Great video
I have a Nintendo Switch and once the console is turned on does not show that it is charging. But it is .. takes around 2 days to fully charge. On the battery connector I get 4.2v. Could it be the pmic ic M92T36 730626?
I have the same problem new battery switch turned on shows charging Symbol but is not charging. Brought it to a repair service to change the charging ic.
They did at least they told me but it's still not charging now they say then need to swap the motherboard. USBC port shows 14 volts so it's not the port. Is the repair service just bad and they have no idea or what else could it be ?
Amazing job ! big thank you ! you rock !
Very nice video again! Have a great weekend! Show us the other side, when you can!
Nice work man.. it's pretty good...!
Ciao sei bravissimo.
am Samuel in Ghana i want to say God richly bless you for the good work your doing i am a beginner i have lean a lot from you all your videos are very educative keep it up .
Just found this video. My sons Switch Lite will not turn on, or display charging status (I tried the 'hard reset' new charger etc.). I removed the motherboard and cleaned it, along with the USB-C port. I noticed with the back off and the charger plugged in, the area around the CPU/GPU and Heat Pipe it got HOT fast. Could this possibly be the same issue?
Hello my son's nintendo switch is doing this. I took it to a repair shop in chandler Arizona and paid $50 bucks they changed out the charge port and then said they can't fix it because of a bad power chip and that no one in az fixes this problem. Could I mail it out to you?
Hi Alex, I hope you can help me with this.
I just received a switch in my shop.
Turned off after a high fall.
AMP meter 0.00
Took the motherboard out and the 2R2 inductor was felt of the board. I replaced it and is now charging at 0.40 and boots up ( i think ) With more than 1 AMP
But no screen and no sound.
Motherboard is not water damaged or something. I hope you can help me maybe with Some tips of your experience.
Btw i love your video’s. I learned a lot of you!
Greetings from the netherlands
Hi, the ic usb c also controlled the charge ?
Is 0.02-0.04 the Same as no Power? And will this Video help me?
Nice to see you we are waiting for your video... 😍😍😍
Good to know very educational thanks!!
correct me if I wrong but I think the title should say Charging IC, if it was the power IC the switch would refuse to turn on?
It's a Charging power controller IC. Call it however you like. That's not the point of the video. Don't pick on small things. Any chip that has voltage in voltage out is a power ic.
hi how are you? im trying to repair my nintendo switch im from mexico i only see a short in the battery connection its that normal?
i have a switch that not turn on and not recharge when OFF. After an hard reset turn on and charge but if i try to turn off console, not turn ON...in little words it work only if console is ON or in STAND BY. IF off is dead. Can you think there s a solution?
Great work!
Good content buddy 🙌
Great job as usual
Thank you brother
thank you M.R
Out of curiosity, what temperature do you use to change the chip?
430c
@@NorthridgeFix thanks
May i also ask 50% airflow? Is your nozzle tip less than 2mm. Thanks
What are your thoughts on the right to repair movement?
Waste of time
@@NorthridgeFix A waste due to the people who are failing to lead the proper charge towards something that makes sense or waste of time because it is not needed?
It's a waste of time because no one is listening and people who are leading are doing it to get views and showcase themselves. Device makers can always bend the rules even if they supply schematics and original parts. There is always a legal way to lock you out from being able to do a full repair. When time comes where devices are no longer repairable, we move on. If people work more they complain, the world would be a better place. Right to repair will have little impact on humanity considering hunger, poverty, people who can't get clean water, shelters, hospitals, creating job....
@@NorthridgeFix You should get involved if you have a better idea on how to make it something real. I don't think you should forget about what you do by comparing that piece of legislation to other world problems as you mentioned. I agree it is important but that isn't your specialty or business. The fact is there is a large group of people that care about getting their things working again and it does eliminate waste. When you say you will move on, you lose the battle for not only you but for your customers as well. I think you should reconsider your positioning because if everyone had the mindset to compare something more easily obtainable such as right to repair which does create jobs, against something like world hunger, then little in this life would be accomplished for the people.
Nice fix! 👍🇬🇧
Great job
nice video as always.

I buyed with 80$ a PS4 with SU-30645-8 error because the seller can't update ,it starts only in Safe Mode, i download from PSN the full firmware and tried with usb exacly ...root PS4...UPDATE ...PS4UPDATE.PUP , cleaned from dust , change the thermal paste, formatt the HDD, initialized, rebuild data base, but the same error asking the 7.02 firmware or later. I read on the internet that someone have this problem and find a Ram module broken. You have this problem until now with one of the broken ps4 ?
Ggod Job!
Nice!

Where are you from? You have an accent.
wow no more laptops in the background :) look great you have more space yaay for you :)
Always get switches with charging problems , nearly always the IC at the back of the board
PI3USB? For me it's usually always the M92T36, it's because of people using 3rd party switch chargers, docks, or cellphone chargers.

I"m an electrical engineer graduated from Polytechnic university (Brooklyn, NY). But that's not where i learned repairs. It started as a hobby and i learned as i went on. School did give me a strong background to lean on to but did not show me how to repair an iphones or ipads.
