Straight bourbon, sour mash, age statements, bottled in bond, and so much more, these works of art define what you are drinking!
The labels on whiskey and bourbon are often brushed off as marketing materials. At best, they get defined as a way to brand the liquor you're drinking, but there is much more to it than just getting you to pick it up off the liquor store shelf.
These works of art can tell you exactly what is in your bourbon, how potent it is, and how long it has been sitting in a barrel. But, they can also tell you exactly how it was made and the rigors that the distillers had to go through while making it.

You have a great channel. I just started my journey into Bourbon and i found in here everything that i was looking for. Nice job, man
Sometimes very simple takes on topic are most informative
Good review Chris. Nice Beard, too.
Couple of things: Under bottled in bond the bourbon has to be 100 proof. If it says “Straight” it has to be 2 years old. If there is a state name next to the straight designation it means that all of the bourbon in the bottle has to have come from that state. Last but not least, if there is an age statement on the bottle like on your Bulleitt 10 year old, it doesn’t mean that all of the bourbon has to be 10 years old. It just means that the youngest bourbon is 10 years old. There can be older bourbon in there.
Hay mate you alright
Hey Brian? Might you be able to explain the Single Barrel Label? I always have a difficult time understanding that one even after watching the video! Still cornfused!
Imagine waiting 10 years just to have the baby of bottles. That's just wild! thanks for sharing.
my girlfriend bought me a bottle of bookers bourbon last year. All I could say was wow it was like rocket fuel. To me no water or ice could tame that wild beast of a whiskey. every time I drank it I got cinnamon and alcohol vapor lol
Enjoyed the video, I thought the main implication of “straight bourbon” was aged at least 2 years.
All bourbon is made in New Oak Casks not just Straight Bourbon! It's the Law!
I was under the impression that Straight Bourbon had to be aged a minimum of at least two years! And Bottled in Bond beside what you stated had to be aged a minimum of four years! The one I'm always confused over is the Single Barrel label. Not to clear on that one!
Why you talking about whiskey
