- The Viking got his first race under his belt on his Trx450r! He accomplished his mission of finishing the race and learned a bunch if stuff along the way!!

This race was a ton of fun and a priceless experience. I can’t wait to hit a few races in 2021. Hats off to the best pit crew ever keeping me hydrated, motivated and cheering me on!

This is awesome. Looking forward to more follow up videos. Just started ordering some pieces last week for my 2020 Raptor based on the ATV On Demand Prototype Yamaha Raptor 700RR with the intent on racing some hare scrambles and GNCC races next year. The steering stabilizer was one of the first things I ordered... LOL. Keep up the great work and keep these videos coming... I'm gonna need all the help I can ger!

Great job guys congrats to the Viking!! When he stepped out of the trailer at the beginning you asked him how he was feeling? I think there were butterflies in the stomach.
That’s what makes racing so excited that nervous anticipation. First time out and he finished, he should be really proud!

This is a dream of mine for over 20 years now. Sadly, age has caught up, weight added, and injuries added. Yet, I am more than will to work towards a race in the future. Just need a machine and to live in a state that actually has XC racing.

Congrats Brother! Your are hooked now for sure. Yeah, a steering stabilizer will make your life much better and safer. Definitely save up for the precision stabilizer, worth every penny.

Great content. Very helpful advice. I've just recently been exposed to the racing community in OXCR and XCCR in southern Ohio and you are totally right when you say that the other racers that are more experienced are more than willing to lend a helping hand. We're going to try to hit a few KXCR races this year. Our first race is in Waverly Ohio next weekend
KXCR isn't doing quads this year... Keep in touch tho, maybe we'll cross paths soon!

Just had my first quad xc race! Did it on a bone stock 2007 YFZ 450! SUPER fun! Got the GoPro of it on my channel. Had wiring issues but I did finish!!

I'm a try n get into xc next yr for the first time. I got hella seat time in this yr. slowly getin my quad set up, got that steering stab and a few other nice items on the bike. I'm excited just to ride some unique tracks, beeing 38 my endurance isn't what it used to be! but this shit just looks fun
I tell ya, I did one lap on a mx track, and I couldnt even finish the 2nd I was so wiped and my arms could hardly hang onto the bars.it was a sand track which makes it wayyyyy harder but it taught me respect for guys that can finish!
Definitely agree! The Viking has made a lot of progress this year, he can push hard through a whole race, got 2nd in his class in IXCR last race! We did some videos on his quad builds for this year too..
Fun stuff... But definitely requires mental and physical fitness and finances to be competitive....
That leaves me out... Lol.

Brent/Viking I’m happy for you. Glad you’re on this, jitters, tension is what I feel from this video. Hydro pack would help with cramping, muscle fatigue, stabilizer, wrist support you prepared for the next race. Chad great job, I have no intention of racing but watched start to finish to support you guys. Btw did flying Brian not have the water ready 🙂

Great opener Brother! Got the Viking front and center! That was a great video! One thing I have on my bucket list is to get involved with a 24 hour GNCC style race. Something I have brought up to Tall Pines, as they do one with the Dirt Bikes! Keep them videos comin Brother! 💪

Is the 24 hour races 1 rider or do they switch off like a le mans race? I view myself a decent rider but 24 hours sounds like death.

@@DirtObseXXion 2015 I did one with a friend after I have been working in Kuwait for 5 years. Had no business signing up, but thought it would be fun. I did the same thing the Viking did. Got caught up in racing the people in front of me and when I stalled my quad I lost the pack. Life lessons 😌

Running a recluse clutch in these xc races makes it much harder to stall, they make it way easier.
Recluse clutch is your best friend and this kind of racing
My hats off to you I’m gonna have to try the Xc Racing. It’s definitely important to have the right equipment hydration pack is a must for anybody older than 15 years old in the right width and better suspension is what I would go with
Thanks Justin! He decided to give it a shot on short notice so there wasn't tons of time for setting the bike up.. It's definitely a young man's game but he's pumped to do it again and got me planning on one next year 👍

@@JUSTINSTURGILLTRUCKING Yeah I think KXCR does one right on the border near Cincinnati but IXCR and the mid-south have races up there too.. So there should be some options.. We'll give you a shout with the ones we're planning if you you really want to meet up at one.. It would be a good time, that's for sure

If you haven’t gotten a steering stabilizer yet, I highly recommend the motowoz steering stabilizer. It’s just as good as the precision stabilizer if not better.
He ended up going with the Precision elite, but you're right, motowoz is great too.. Wait until you see this machine for next season, he's finishing up a full frame up rebuild and it looks amazing.. There's a sneak preview on our Instagram if you're interested 👀
I wish I got into this years ago. People used to say I was born on a 4 wheeler lol. But I’m 38 now and can’t take the beating. I think all that hard riding when I was young wore me out. Had 5 back surgeries already 🤦♂️
It's a brutal sport.. I know I couldn't do it.. Brent started at 35 though, so I guess he's got the back of an 18 year old...

@@ononewheel7 Yeah I plan on going to several races next year if it all works out. I would like to have a decked out XC quad but not sure if it’s in the budget this year.
Also look at Tokyo mods they make a light weight throttle spring for the carburetors it’ll make it easier on your Thumb

I race Xc to and the circuit I race is midsouth y’all should go try it out it is rly good but be ready to ride with the best of the best and make sure your bike is ready I ride a fully built quad so make sure you are ready
Yeah mid south is definitely top notch.. This was his first race, he did most of IXCR last year and plans to do the full series this year.. He built 2 450r(s) for this season..

What jets are you running? I got a dasa with uni filter no lid stock carb. It just boggs at full throttle
put you a steering stablizer and a hot start and put a camel pack and use a arm pump ball and work out and work out and pracite on the weekend

What brand and part# battery you running in that trx450 and is it in the stock location. Also what skid plate? Thanks
I’m pretty sure the battery is a die hard /auto zone MotorSports battery not sure on the part number and it is in the stock location. Skid plates are PRM ATV.
I’m doing my first race this July 10th At knobby creek. Did you camp out the night before? How did you set up where the guys to meet you for a pit stop?
Cool! He does camp sometimes but not every time.. You shouldn't need to pit, but if you do just have the guys pull up on the track somewhere that's easy for you to remember.. When Viking races he usually puts his rig right next to the track, then me an FB hang out there in case he needs anything

At that time he had a Teixeira tech stem and bar clamp on 14degree sweep FASST Flex bars with ASV levers and ODI grips..
How long was the track in (miles), one lap?

I’m got a 2.6 mile track mapped out that I want to race or trail ride with friends for fun.
Probably 8 or 9 miles.. He's racing IXCR this year most the tracks are about 10 miles or so, but a 2.6 mile loop would definitely be good practice.. Just run like 10 laps

I did rally at bear valley / rauchcreek , that was 34 miles one lap, I took two laps ,far harsher trail looking then this xc track .. really don’t think anyone would catch me lol

We're really big XC fans! We follow GNCC pretty closely.. We were planning on going to watch some GNCC races but it didn't work out this year.. No they didn't have any 4x4s but you technically could race one in the open classes

How do you get into racing quads? I have one and want to try it out
Super easy.. Find a series as close to home as possible, pay the entry fee, go race..
It's that simple.
Read the rules in case your quad needs something like a kill teether.. But the race series folks want you there racing so contact them and they'll help you
Get to 46" front and rear...dont worry about any other parts... worry about being out of race shape... ride,ride ride...

Im 13 and just got a stock 2004 yfz 450 and dont know were to start to get into racing ixcr and gncc
You should check the rules on the GNCC website, but I don't think you can run a 450 at 13yrs old.. Not sure tho.. Races are easy to enter, but we'd definitely recommend getting familiar with the machine and honing your skills before racing.. I think you have to race a 250 class until 16, but again not sure..

They're usually state or region specific so you'll have to do some research.. Indiana, Ohio, New York all have really good state XC series, then there is some regional stuff like Mid South that covers TN, NC, KY.. Best taste to try first would be a local hairscramble.. KYXCR stopped doing quads so the Viking races IXCR now.. For most guys, there tends to be quite a drive involved..
Are 50” trails a good practice
We thought they would be but most the time they're much more groomed than a XC track is.. You really have to get your endurance and technique up on fairly rough trails... But any riding is gonna help, just push past the pain point..

Have you all had the opportunity to really ride and review the Tracker ATVs?
Not a formal test or review but I've ridden the Alterras which are the same as the trackers... Not a big fan
I " NEVER " use all 4 fingers to pull in the clutch I use two sometimes only 1 ..that way you either have two or three fingers tightly gripping the handlebar making things most importantly safier shifting or just clutching while keeping ud ride under control..u know what I mean lol it's a safier faster better way to shift during wide open throttle

I used to pit for a buddy of mine in the mid 90s and he rode a 250R. He would enter 100 miles races. He was not right in the head he would run those full 100 miles balls out.

Yeah there was one dude on a 250r.. It was mostly 450r and yfz, but you can definitely run whatever you want in the open classes

The Yamaha Banshee BANSHEE needs to make an appearance next yr.
I do have a banshee lol. And a 450r. But if I stall on the course the 2 stroker is 100 times easier to kick start

How is the KXCR series? I'm building my Predator 500 to GNCC race with in 2021, I live in South East Kentucky so I would definitely like to hit this series as well as the Mid-East Hare Scrambles series too.
That's awesome! It was pretty good.. We were hoping to see more ATVs there.. It was mostly bikes and about 30-35 ATVs.. Probably a good one to get some practice rounds in before you do a GNCC..

He ran open C so you can race anything you want.. There was a guy in his class on a stock Raptor

I could have ran Vet C 30+ but there was only one other rider in that class so I decided to run in open C which had four riders total.
I'm looking to get into xc to, recently move to southern Indiana. Where are you from. This looks like a good place to start.

We're in Central KY kinda near ETown.. KXCR is a great series especially to get a taste for it.. IXCR is probably a lot bigger on the ATV side.. They have a couple XC1 pros that typically race it..

I really enjoyed this this was a cool format with the narration over the race. But it makes me a little depressed because in Massachusetts riding is so illegal that there isn't any kind of organized events like this. There's only a few tracks that are open and a couple spots of private land that are impossible to ride. I cannot imagine the joy I would feel being to be able to ride whenever you want and not worry about the cops taking your machine and running it over with bulldozers. You guys are so lucky.
