"The killer is... YOU!" - Makoto Naegi "Here's everything that happened in this case!" - Hajime Hinata "This is the truth of the case!" - Shuichi Saihara We've come a long way, haven't we?
"I'm going to look back at the whole case one more time, okay? When you're convinced, you just let me know, alright? Let's end this together." I am broken...
This theme fits perfectly with Shuichi's character as the weak detective. The previous versions have a more climax and "this is the conclusion!" feel, but this one feels as if the one detailing the case (Shuichi) doesn't want his conclusions to be true at all, but in reality, it is.
@@whowantstotalkaboutmurders4177 Not really,it's because the game wants to drill into you that sometimes it's through lies that the truth is reached. Which is actually a legit avenue during investigations. Detectives BS suspects to see if they crack and spill details they need or are still missing. It's the entire reason some suspects don't let themselves be interrogated without attorneys.
At first I was disappointed that they changed the theme, but then it quickly grew on me. Chapter 4 is when this OST really got me, the previous one to me was a bit more upbeat and made me want to dance to it, but this is one is more bittersweet. It’s more like “I don’t want to do this but I have to”
This track had a very unique feeling. It really immerses you as Shuichi, calming you and helping you accept the harsh truth that one of your friends is a murderer. It's an empty victory, making each connection, finishing the case with a hollowness of losing one of the people who were there to fight alongside you.
I like how when you reach the end of the case and have concrete evidence that this person killed this person but when you fuck up and lose all your influence everyone pulls a complete 180 and starts blaming you
"But at that point, the killer was already putting their plan into action [...] The shot put ball fell right into the victim's head... ...or so we thought until now."
Such a bittersweet song. The perfect feeling for Shuichis character not wanting to reveal the truth. Not wanting to face the truth that his friend is the killer but having to expose the killer in order to survive. Also I believe it isn’t a coincidence a piano plays a significant role in this song
Yeah, the piano is scattered through quite a few songs on this OST. I think it's a great musical analogy to "everything I do reminds me of her" (at least, my interpretation)
It fits especially since minus chapter 3, the culprits aren’t bad people and they have a decent reason to do what they did, or in chapter 4’s case, as you said they don’t want to believe what happened
I honestly didn't think much of this theme at first... but upon nearing the end of the 4th Class Trial, already damn near close to tears having to accept the 'cold hard truth' that THIS character was the killer, and following Shuichi's genuinely kind but heartbreaking admission that "I'm going to look back at the entire case one more time, okay? When you're convinced, you just let me know, alright? Let's end this together.", THIS music then plays and all that sadness, grief and anger that had been building up throughout the second half of the trial, it finally caught up to me, and I couldn't stop crying for a good 10 minutes.
I still prefer the version from the first two games, but this one has that "You've done this for three games now, aren't you tired?" feeling and I love it.
The previous themes put you on the protagonist side, it's an epic theme to uncover the killer, but this one feels just gloomy, they didn't want to do it but they had to, is the sad truth
Just like shuichi's character. he doesnt want to do it thanks to his past, but he had no choice. Only part where i can remember someone not really wanting to do it was the second game case 5.
Aside from the "I don't want to do it but I have to do it" feel. Notice how this song also incorporates the piano as a 2nd instrument to it. It may be a coincidence but if it isn't then that's a clever detail.
I'm so glad everyone thinks this theme is nice. Personally, I always liked how it was soothing and melancolic. It's just really fitting to Shuichi, And I couldn't have it for any other character other than him. As others have said, A truly fitting theme for the "Weak detective."
It's almost sad. Shuichi doesn't want to expose the truth since it leads to sadness and loss which he hates. So exposing the truth like this is hard for him, therefore the song is more melancholy, which I find amazing
(Spoilers for Chapter 1) Honestly when this played for the first time in the Case 1 Closing Argument, it hit really goddamn hard, even when i already know that Kaede did it due to being spoiled about it.
Chapter 4's trial....... The first time I went trough it my friend kinda ruined the emotion, but when I now decided to replay the game, god... I just cried so much.... ;_;

man, re-listening to this again... it has a melancholic but firm vibe, like, 'this pains me but i need to push forward anyway' yknow ?? this whole song reminds me of shuichi as a character in general
Just took the first case to make me cry😥 I played the other games, and almost made my eyes wet but the first case from this game made me cry literally😥😥
What's that windy cold aurora borealis vibe emitting instrument like in the snow levels in kirby's return to dreamland? How's that sound happen? It's kinda cool.
It could very well be actual whistling (not _quite_ whistling, but like... tonal blowing) put through some post-processing filters. Either that or some kind of deep woodwind. also, very much enjoyed finding this comment-- even before I finished reading it, the first other song I thought of was that aurora song from KRtDL, lol
Gotta love how different it is compared to the first two games. It matches well with Shuichi's character and how he is a bit more quiet then Makoto and Hajime. And it also matches with Shuichi being the Ultimate Detective as he is looking into every detail of the case. While Makoto and Hajime had more of the big climatic ending type feel
"The killer is... YOU!"
- Makoto Naegi
"Here's everything that happened in this case!"
- Hajime Hinata
"This is the truth of the case!"
- Shuichi Saihara

Makoto also has "this is EXACTLY what happened"
"I'm going to look back at the whole case one more time, okay? When you're convinced, you just let me know, alright? Let's end this together."

I agree!!Because Shuichi doesn't want them to be real!!
