      Aaaamen Eric Scotten. Since it is no longer so far ahead of its time, I’ve been hoping for YEARS that Beech would take advantage of the massive amounts of engineering and research already done, add just a bit more to that (thus saving costs and accelerating the time line for certification) and put the Beech Lightning into production - BUT with a V tail! That would be the ultimate Bonanza, and it’s logical evolution!
      Having owned a 1954 E-35 for a time, and having flown an A-36 for a bit around 1982, I got to see and feel first-hand the strength, elegance, and harmony of the controls resulting in marvelous flying characteristics of this all most-perfectly designed wing and airframe combination. After all, the wing started with the Beech 18 and continues on even in King Airs to this day, outboard if the nacelles, as I understand it. Especially after the mod required in more recent years, there is nothing wrong with the V tail, and aircraft such as the Cirrus jet shows that it is still viable and attractive.

      @@moranplano I’m definitely a fan of the v-tail; my company operates a 1968 V35A. It is a solid airplane, easy to fly and quite easy to land… Comparatively speaking, it’s the Caddy to other aircraft in its class. PROS - Comfortable ride and best-looking aircraft in class (uh… v tail!). Mooney is a close second, but you must like the ride inside (legs flopped out in front of you as opposed sitting more upright). Personally, my ankles can’t take the seating position in a Mooney. CONS - Received plenty of bad press for ‘structural issues’ with the tail; most of which can be attributed to improper rigging or control surface balancing that leads to in-flight flutter. Narrow CG (can carry a lot, but only if loaded correctly). Textron’s leadership (lack thereof) in supporting the venerable v-tail with a litany of excuses about availability of magnesium and chemical prep to stamp out skins. At this time, no skins are available should they need to be replaced due to corrosion (which is a common problem with magnesium). There are some repair stations that can make limited repairs, but to preserve the fleet of v-tails, a new solution needs to be engineered (Fabric, Carbon Fiber, new Ruddervator assembly, etc…).

    No matter how busy I am, or what I may be doing at the time Beechcraft releases news, I stop in my tracks and take notice. Beechcraft has been in the better part of my life starting with the Debonair, then the Bonanza V35b, the B55 Baron and finally the Venerable B60 Duke...some of the best memories of my life.

    I have had Beechcraft blood flowing through my veins for about 27 years now. I am a mechanic, love working on and flying them. My favorite is the 1966 V35. A tribute to Olive Ann would be a new version of that exact model with modern avionics.

    I'm confused why on the Textron website it says that the G36 only has a service ceiling of around 17000 ft but the t206 turbo station air has a service ceiling of 26,000 ft and the horsepower is very similar?
    Is the G36 just not have enough horsepower to climb to 26,000 ft? What's what's the deal with the difference in service ceiling?

    Beautiful planes, set the standard. But the cost will likely be over $1,000,000 for a plane whose design costs were long ago amortized, using tooling and jigs that have long been paid for. Makes no sense. Beech will make 10 next year and probably make money on them but it is not enough to replenish the fleet for the years losses.

    • @Tetra84
      @Tetra84 3 роки тому +4

      truth... you're better off buying a good Beech airframe from the 60s-70s for ~$25-35k and spending $100k on avionics/engine upgrades and have an equally capable aircraft for a fraction of the cost of a new one.

      But it's the same story for any product these days. Companies are dealing with excessive taxes, regulations, fees, insurance requirements, employer obligations, increased healthcare costs for employees, etc. It drives up the price of the products. Sad, but what can they do? At least they didn't move overseas. God bless them.

    • @johnmajane3731
      @johnmajane3731 3 роки тому +1

      @@yamascott not really. GA Manufacturers were attacked by the lawyers which hurt them then the tax benefits were stripped from them by Carter and then Reagan. As they made fewer units the cost went up driving more people out of the market driving the per unit cost even higher. Even the Cirrus cost is way out of line to what a high performance single engine plane was in the 60s. in real dollars.

    You guys need to make a modern 33 bonanza with the tornado alley turbo io-550 from the factory, 120 gallon main tanks like in the b-36 and a parachute with a 1300 lb useful load...all of these things can be done in the aftermarket except for the parachute...if you did that, you would compete with Cirrus and steal back a pretty large portion of the market shares...

    So, it's just like a normal Bonanza, only with retro paint and a fancier interior, for even more money? Seems kinda lame to me, since I would rather see an updated V-tail Bonanza based on the G36 fuselage. With the technology available today, a re-designed V-tail Bonanza would be a spectacular aircraft.
