Please keep showing us the priming and start-up procedures. It's especially interesting and useful to me as I am not a pilot and don't have access to GA planes and regular flying experiences. Thanks a ton!
A behind the scenes video would be cool. Would love to see what you guys did to the plane as well as the delivery. Thanks for posting Rich, I always enjoy!
Best Single Engine Piston in the World by 100 mules !!!! I flew one, RPC-1235, in the Philippine for 4 years (Private) in 1977 ( I was 19) to 1980 !!! I am old, now !!! Lol Moved to Sydney. Still flying, we have graduated from CE-500 VH-HVH and now about to acquire a GIV-SP !!! I still miss that A-36 and flying to all those places in the Philippines before they became popular !!! Go the Bonanza !!!!!!!
Great video as usual Rich. Always enjoy your insight on the planes you fly. The Bonanza to me has always been a great looking personal aircraft. It has a subtle sexiness to it!
The g36 is nice but the mix of modern and old avionics is premium. A36 for the win. Nice video tho! I’m a student pilot at 19 and your videos inspire me lots
Hey Rich. Another great video and an awesome airplane. And those interiors and avionics (maybe exclusive of the 50th year anniversary?), they're simply breathtaking. Happy landings from Portugal.
#richcanflyanything I really appreciate the regular uploads. You treat the owners aircraft with a great deal of respect and airmanship. You certainly deserve a lot more subscribers.
Rich, '84 is when they also changed over to the 2" turbine style engine gauges. We had an '84 in the Beech Flying Club at the factory in Wichita and it was a sweet flying bird!
I was a member at BEFC in the early 90’s. I worked at United Beech (line service) in Wichita right after college. At that time, A36’s, no F33A’s. I’ve always loved the F33A’s!
@@FlyingwithRich We had one in the club. First Bonanza I ever flew. Someone landed on a grass strip and went through a fence and insurance totalled the plane.
Rich, Another great video. Your videos have good production values. I’d love one in how you film them. Particularly how you mount the external cameras. Well done.
A good friend of mine flew a G36 into a night time thunderstorm in 2002 and perished along with two of his friends. In a communication 11 minutes earlier the FAA failed to warn him of the Cat 5. storm ahead. Still in all, it is my opinion that he had the responsibility to know the weather he was flying in. He was instrument rated. Things have changed a lot since then. On a side note, a 4th turned down the week-end hunting trip on Friday morning citing his own personal safety concerns as the reason for not going along.
You mentioned the 1984 A36 model. I had one for a few years and it was all you said it was/is. Of course, RNAV and a Stormscope were the mods back then. Like my original 67 GTO, I wish I still had it and would likely have installed the TAT. Tragically, my partner crashed it.
I have a question about the comment made, "lean to peak" ... I don't think I've heard the discussion of the difference between "lean to peak" and the other option Rich spoke about... If I had to guess, perhaps it means, lean the mixture until the EGT gauge peaks and leave it there, as opposed to leaning the mixture until the EGT gauge peaks then pull a little more to have the EGT go down again, and then push the mixture back in a touch after that. Thoughts? Answers? Appreaciated.
Your correct but it’s lean of peak meaning continue to reduce fuel flow until temps go down on the lean side of peak temps. You don’t get power and higher cruise speeds, more fuel efficient and cooler cylinder temps.
That’s my old G36 Bonanza. I bought it new and shipped it to Ada for the Turbonormalizer install. I flew it for 1000 hours and sold it in 2012 for a PC12. Let me know if they ever want to sell it
Wil do - current owner has had it for a little over a year now and plans to upgrade in the next 12-18 months. Send me an e-mail and I will let you know.
Personally, I would not. I’ve been flying for a long time in light GA aircraft with no de-ice (granted mostly on the west coast), and I have had very few times I have had to cancel a flight due to icing condition. I do have clients/friends who operate on the east coast and they have a very different perspective. I guess for me the answer is no, but put me in on the east coast for a while and I would likely change my mind!
@@FlyingwithRich The Bonanza has always been a beautiful plane! I saw the first Duke delivered to OKC, back in the day. Tullakes aviation brought in in from Kansas. It was a ramp queen.
Tough question - so many great airplanes. Very difficult to say my favorite. Bonanza/ Baron very high on the list in their class. I love them all though!
I really like Mooney’s - great handling and efficient. We had an Ovation that we took on trade and used it for travel - fast, efficient, fun to fly, great value. People I talk say support still doing well.
Hi Rich, Always enjoy your content. Two questions: First, what about the M350? Second, why are aircraft engines so fussy? My BMW M6 makes 615hp from 4.4 liters and starts first time every time with no adjusting mixture or anything else, hot or cold. (this is a theoretical question - most of the time the car produces about 20% power, not 75%)
I put the M350 is in a different class since pressurized but certainly a great airplane. Most newer piston aircraft have fuel injected engines (no carburetors), but lack electronic fuel injection, electronic ignition, and computer controls. Mostly because of the limited market for aircraft, high costs of getting systems certified, etc. so the starting procedures are limited. Thanks for watching.
That’s the engine with a top induction, before pandemic $$ was just below 100k upgrade, I’d Harpster to think what they are now. 😨 Great videos Rich 🇨🇦
Right, but it is a "stretched" Debonair. BRW, although the 36 series are nice flying airplanes, the 35 series (real Bonanzas) are so much nicer to fly (think truck vs sport car).
Mechanical, some gear up landings are forced because of extension failures. Also with a high wing, gear up tend to roll to one side, wing tip catches and more damage/injury potential. Low wing, not so much.
Bonanza is still premium. Fit and finish is better than Cirrus. Perhaps only Diamonds have better fit and finish. I’d take a Bonanza over a SR22 any day.
So rich did you know that Beechcraft is coming out with a new bonanza Olive Ann Beech edition in 22. It will feature new interior colors and exterior paint scheme in honor of Olive
@@FlyingwithRich yeah they haven’t announced an actual date but they said sometime in 22. It would be so cool if your company could buy one and you could rent it out to your local clients
I guess the DA50 kind of makes my point. It’s been under development for a long time and probably a lot has to do with the engine. It’s been a tough road - hopefully will be a commercial success. Is it FAA certified yet?
Dictionary disagrees with you - “a comparatively small and powerful engine, especially an internal-combustion engine in an automobile, motorboat, or the like.” Henry Ford would too!
I would employ you - great facts and annunciation, no nonsense pilot. Isn’t it nice that professionals are still alive and we love it. ✈️

Rich: Which Bonanza would you choose to own between the B36TC or Updated A36/G36?
Beautiful bird. My dad had a 1967 V35 when I was a kid. What is difference between the A36 and G36 variants - just more modern avionics?
G36 came with G1000 prior to G1000, A36. Thanks for watching?
Nice review. Imagine how much easier it would be to operate if there was a FADEC system.
I agree - surprised FADEC hasn’t made it to current production aircraft. The Tecnam P2012 we flew a while back did have FADEC with TIO 540.
Great aeroplane.
Great video, thanks very much

Was that an Invader off the left at 12:22 ?? : D
I wonder if you could take out one of the rear seats and install some type of a lavatory in the back?
Why did Beechcraft stop production of the V tail?
Nice Bonanza

Great video, great airplane! I hope to one day sell my 2004 C172SP and move up to a G36. Maybe go in with a couple other pilots.
