Guys, so many comments about Millie eating James’ food & James eating so much of Millie’s etc. we didn’t have our ‘own’ plate. We shared both. At every meal place we’ve been, none have been ‘set’ to a certain person. We bought 2 meals to share so we could both try new foods. Once we stopped recording, we had spare plates and shared out the rest of both main plates between us two and James’ mum. Same as for the ketchup, salt etc, we added that all on when we had our individual plates. Millie adds ketchup to EVERYTHING. 🤩🤪

Many places choose to leave their mashed potatoes a little lumpy because (1) it proves they're real, and not instant and (2) Some people prefer the texture.

I mentioned this in their previous video trying steak.

Cracker Barrel is the mass-produced version of Southern country cooking. While it’s not as good as what Granny cooks, it’s great food for the money and it’s consistently good no matter where you go. For my family, it’s a nice way to break up a long road trip. Everybody gets a chance to get out of the car and have a decent meal that’s about the same price you would pay for fast food, but much, much better.

Yeah, I like the candies and things in the store side, but I've always found the homey ambience to be contrived and artificial. The food is okay, but nothing to write home about. Best to seek out reviews for genuine, non-chain Mom and Pop places.

Cracker Barrel is one of the few chains where you can get home made style food. A lot of people get their Mother's Day and Thanksgiving dinners at Cracker Barrel, if you want to eat there, prepare to wait for more than an hour, it's as busy as Black Friday on Mother's Day. You can order Thanksgiving and do pickup. Cracker Barrel is about the only place where you can still get Books on Tape (on CD, though) and they carry their own line of Cracker Barrel branded cast iron cookware, manufactured by Lodge. They've also helped a lot of classic, old fashioned soda and candy companies stay in business with their gift shop, which is an homage to the old country stores you see in Westerns and shows.

Okra is a vegetable that grows on a stalk like plant. It starts its life as a flower (as a matter of fact it's in the hibiscus family it's also a form of nightshade plant) that falls away and a small bud remains. The bud grows into a fuzzy long green finger-like vegetable. It's harvested by cutting it off the stalk. The more you harvest, the taller the stalk grows and the more the plant produces. It can be boiled, used in stews such as gumbo, or breaded and fried. If boiled it becomes really slimy and a lot of people are repulsed by it.

We travel in our RV a lot. Cracker Barrell usually has lager parking spaces for RV'ers and tour busses. On one occasion we were traveling thru Tennessee and arrived late. We parked our rig overnight in the Cracker Barrell lot. Next morning there was a knock on our door. It was the Cracker Barrell manager with a pot of coffee and two menu's. Can't get better hospitality than that. Also, Okra is better fried crisp!

Okra is the immature seed pod of a tall plant related to cotton and mallows. It is an ingredient in traditional Gumbo and is also pickled and fried. The lumps mean the mashed was made of real potatoes that were not forced through a ricer but probably hand mashed.

I think that it's great that the two of you share the meal and try different things. That really shows how bonded and grounded that you are as a couple. It's also a great example to set for your children so that they learn the joy of sharing. I love to see people from the empire realizing how us colonists made such a great use of the blessings of this land. Even folks from down under can't resist our food!

I wouldn't even call it "southern". It's just ersatz American "home cooking" (in their ads they call it "homestyle" themselves). I think the thing I got the few times I've eaten there was meatloaf. That's hardly just "southern".

The first time I've been a Cracker Barrel was when my family and I went to Georgia for a family members wedding, and on our way back to Virginia, we came across one and decided to eat there. It's was our first time in a Cracker Barrel except for maybe my uncle who was with us. I loved it. I don't know why but I loved it so much I went back on my 16th birthday and going back for my 19th this year in July.

You need to smear the butter on a warm cornbread muffin, first then take a warm cornbread muffin (separate on a saucer/bowl) smear butter and pour maple syrup over the top. sweet for a breakfast or desert dish.

if you eat cornbread or biscuits by themselves. you use butter inside and on top of the cornbread. but you use jam inside the biscuits. typically, though, you eat them with the meal and use them to 'sop up' any gravies or sauces let over.

Okra is a type of fruit. Many say that it's a vegetable, but it's a fruit in the same way that a tomato is a fruit, but it's treated like a vegetable. It's basically a pod with many seams in it that all open to one capsule full of seeds. My dad grows them in his garden, and my grandmother pickles them with a few slices of jalapeno. The spice gives it just the right kick.

I love Cracker Barrel, my wife and I go there two or three times per month. The decor always reminds me of Grandma Rosie's house, and the food is almost as good as Grandma's. ;) Nothing is ever as good as Grandma's, right? Guys, here are some tips from a regular... ALWAYS butter the heck out of your cornbread and biscuits. No matter how good they are, butter makes 'em better! The mac 'n cheese is awesome, but don't forget the hashbrown casserole. And finally, on the way out be sure to load up in the candy section, especially with the Chunky bars. More good stuff on the menu, have a blast exploring. Loved the reaction!
