This man is a terrific asset to the club. He has twice the brains of the best of the rest, he is erudite and succinct talking to the Press, what a change from the passive aggressive grunting from some other current Premiership managers
Honestly. We’ve been great for the last 4/5 weeks in terms of how most the season has gone. We’re still playing with a VERY depleted 11 let alone squad. And got beat by a very in-form palace team who are clearly riding a wave with their new coach. We were due to concede a goal or two, but it’s not a terrible loss and 6th is still in our hands if we win our remaining home games and win at old Trafford! Light work son. Eddie is the man.

@@davieporter6671 the results we've had, with the squad and availability we've had, starting from a very low base, in an incredibly short time period. we are the most improved side in the prem since Eddie came in, and that's not because of splashing cash. He's been smart in how he's managed big egos, adapted the squad when we've had no players available for certain positions, fostered a real team spirit (e.g. look at Chelsea to see how bad it can be). He's frankly gotten very little wrong, and when he has it's usually been out of desperation (e.g. bringing Murphy back from injury too early).

A watershed moment approaching….we need to beat Sheffield United to stand a chance of getting into any European competition next season- no ifs or buts. After the performance at Palace, Burnley, Man U and Brentford all away suddenly look a lot harder on paper. Having said that, if we get 3 points against Sheffield United and can manage to beat Man U, then I recon another 2 wins out of the remaining three fixtures (Burnley, Brighton and Brentford and we’ll not be too far away. I just knew those home draws against Luton and Bournemouth would come back to hurt us at some point….

Prediction Premier League Season 2023-2024 : Newcastle United 3-0 Sheffield United.
At the international break, with 10 games to play, it looked like 20 points from the remaining games would probably get us a spot in Europe. Halfway through those 10 games, we have 10 of those 20 points. So even though the Palace performance was rubbish, we're on pace to finish at that level. With 10 more points, I'm still optimistic we'll get Europe at some level. ⚫⚪
Palace was a dent and we looked off it but at home we are a different team...really miss Botman and Tripps, Joe x2, a fit Wilson like most of season we look a bit knackered at times

Yes the guys been immense, Mr reliable, doesn’t do the pretty stuff, but keeps the team balanced, the grafter, box to box midfielder, off the ball running, protecting the defence & assisting the attacking players.

I understand Tino is still not 100% and don't want to risk anything long term, but Hall should Maybe have had more playing time against Palace, rather than having Krafth in cb and burn at lb. Eddie still makes some very obvious mistakes, not to sit here and play armchair manager.

How much is Bruno release clause? If it does happen, put Tonali in there and buy a good partner with the Bruno money.. or someone like Gibbs-Whyte who is consistently good. If the rest of the team stays fit they will be top 5. Replace Wilson with a different threat and get a cover for centre back. It’s the injuries will matter more than transfers once the Bruno thing is decided
Too many players lose possession too easily esp away. That needs to improve. Players at the back and midfield need do a lot better. Sheff Utd have been scoring goals and i think they will get 1 or 2 so NUFC need to be at their best. They need to score the 1st goal early and keep pressing. 3 points a must as Mau U can drop points and also have to play Newcastle. Anthony Gordon needs to play on the left side. He was not effective out on the right. Palace to be fair had a few top quality individuals and worked well as a team and Sheff Utd don't have that so 3 points is there for the taking. NUFC need to work hard and get a bit of luck with regards Man U. I think their manager is under pressure. Not many expect him to keep his job so they may well drop points but NUFC need to win their games. Not about performance now, all about results.

We weren't that far off a result at Palace, poor as the performance was. One of those chances goes in at 1-0 and it's a different game. It's looking like we might have to win at Old Trafford to seal 6th though.

Palace game was abysmal.
It was the typical Newcastle away performance this season, our injuries doesn't help at all, though.
Newcastle away, have been generally dreadful to watch, apart from a very few exceptions.
For me, the difference between NUFC and some of the top teams is pace. With the exception of Gordon, Isak and Miggy, Newcastle lack pace at full backs , midfield and at the back. To push to the next level, to win cups, they need to buy players with exceptional pace. When you play high press like NUFC do, you cannot do it with the front players alone. The whole team has to push up and when they do, over the top balls , balls into the channel are a problem due to lack of pace. Perfect example of this was the Dortmund game. I think its this lack of pace which often keeps NUFC pinned in their own half, teams like Palace , Fulham etc exposed all this. The impact can also been seen with Isak often isolated, with a huge gap between midfield and attack. The lack of pace means some players are scared to push forward and leave space exposed. Quality players with pace can recover and will have other pace players cover them when they recover to fill a pos. If NUFC want to win things next season, they need much faster players than the likes of Longstaff, Dan burn left back etc. NUFC have struggled when a team has a few pacey players.
Yeah injured players don't tend to have pace.
The difference between Newcastle and the top teams has been excessive injuries!

What i noticed then is NUFC lacked pace at the back and found it difficult through the season whenever they faced pace. I think with a few additions they can compete to win things. NUFC had a good cup run but you always know when they face the top team, they're found wanting.

Unfortunately it does seem like Bruno will be away in the summer if his release clause is triggered. If he was so settled then why would he get his agent to insert a release clause into his contract. I know he's reported to have bought a house, he's big mates with Joelinton who's obviously just signed a new contract, he seems very happy, is popular with the rest of the squad etc, but again you don't get a release clause inserted if you aren't interested in at least hearing what Champions League teams would be offering in the summer. Then again perhaps both the club and he wanted it, and they've already decided to sacrifice Bruno in order to build the rest of the squad. I just hope that if he does leave then he goes to one of the big European clubs Barca, PSG, Real or Bayern. It would just compound matters if we had to see him playing for Citeh, Arsenal or Liverpool.
Barca can't afford him, he won't want to go to PSG to play in that crap league again especially with Mbappe gone, Real Madrid don't need him, the real threats are City and Arsenal, but I don't think the club will be willing to sell him to another English club so not sure if that's in his release clause. If Bernardo Silva leaves City though they may look at Bruno as a replacement and every player in the world would want to play for Pep at City.

not gonna lie it infuriates me when I hear any professional athlete/sportsman or coach using the verbiage "we will learn" as a total cop out after a dreadful performance. Sorry but the time for learning was in school, in youth development, you're at the pinnacle of the profession and charging people accordingly to watch you... the time for any fundamental learning has passed long ago.
