Recently discovered rare footage of 1898 Rex Mardi Gras procession shows history on parade

A recently discovered film of the 1898 Rex parade allows us a chance to see what Mardi Gras was like almost 125 years ago. Diane Mack takes us back to that time and explores the search for this very rare footage, the oldest known footage of New Orleans' Carnival. The footage is now housed in the Eye Filmmuseum in Amsterdam.

Whether it’s a Mardi Gras parade, Argentinian gaucho dance recital, Russian ballet, Holland tulip exhibition, or Chinese rice harvest I can’t help but be astonished by the loveliness of the human race. Thank you for such a rich, rich experience fellow humans!!!!
