I have had ventilated seats in cars. If your car doesn't bake in sun for hours you probably won't need them, and if the HVAC system is working properly you won't need them after a few minutes. Nice feature, but I wouldn't toss away $1300 for them, especially as when you trade the car the dealer won't pay a dime more for them.
I enjoyed them on an F150 but live part time in Florida now and so far I haven't missed them. I think the way some seats 'breathe" may have something to do with it. And I'm a back sweater!
That Audi spec on cargo space is just wrong. You can obviously see that folding the rear seats adds a lot more than 14 cu ft of added space. The Volvo V60 is 43 cu ft and it is a slightly smaller interior.
damn i never wanted to get an audi instead of my mercedes because i hated the a4 and a5 design but the sportback looks so good! it reminds me of the rs7 which is my favorite audi that i cant afford yet lol
Beautiful design... except maybe the horizontal air vents that stretches across the entire width of the dashboard. IMO, the Kia Stinger will be an excellent alternative to the A5 Sportback.
Adi the Arteon has a great exterior design no doubt, but the Stinger would be the smarter choice considering driving dynamics, reliability, price and warranty.
The Korean brands are high on value, but low on refinement. It’ll be interesting to see how to slightly more refined G70 will compare to the A5/S5 Sportback.
As a 11' CC owner looking for a replacement within the next year, I will never consider Arteon. I do not think there are no more attractive VWs out there anyway, but I will not consider another VW for a while because I had lots of issues with that beautiful CC, both in electronics and engines. Especially with the aggressively increased price on its successor, why choose Arteon when there are more high-end A5 with just a little bit more of price, and Stinger with more likely better reliability that comes with bang for the bucks? Personally it is no brainer for me not to choose Arteon!
Great review. Are the tires the same as the A4? I currently have the A4 and was thinking of upgrading to the A5. I have two sets of tires for the A4 and was wondering whether I could use them on the A5?
The sportback will age well. Chris I had 2 questions: - Would you rather advise buying the Stinger or the Arteon over this for the value one gets (in their base trims)? - Will buying the A5 Sportback be more expensive to maintain for long-term ownership? You guys in US get so much for the $. In Canada, prices are so high of cars, it's ridiculous.
Yeah but I hope the Arteon has VW's v6 instead of going the turbo route... For us Canadians, I am wondering which will be the cheapest to buy amongst all these 3 (at least we can enjoy Kia's competitive finance rates vs Audi/VW)
The US-spec Arteon will have 268-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four mated to an eight-speed automatic. The European version with a 276-hp 2.0-liter has a power-to-weight ratio that is outmatched by V-6 versions of the Honda Accord and the Toyota Camry. The cheapest among the three would surely be the KIA (with the base engine). However, the best option would be the Stinger GT... which trades the base 255-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four for a twin-turbo 3.3-liter V-6 making 365 horsepower.
Waqas Bashir I have the 19" sport ones and road noise is a bit high (nothing like a non Audi though). Just not a8 level. There is some whooshing going on but it's a beautiful car and a joy to own.
I want an A5 Sportback with a stick and the sport plus package. Why oh why can't I get an A5 Sportback with a stick when I can get an A4 or A5 coupe with a stick? Why Audi?! Why?!
Yes. The Bang&Olufsen sound system has been extremely dissapointing in my S5 Sportback. Planning to upgrade this to a whole new system in a couple months. Other than that, it's an unbelievably sick car. It's just the sound system that sucks.
How’s the steering wheel compared to the S5? Same stiff steering? I love the S5 but it’s a bit of of my budget so if the A5 steering wheel is same like S5. I’ll love to get it
I know you said the particular car you tested doesn't have the ventilated seats but do you know how long it takes for them to get cool from a cold start?
my S5 Sportback has a ton of rear seat room. At 5-10, 220 lb former college athlete with a 48 chest, plenty. Not sure how tall you are bud, from the looks of those pretzel stick arms, you should fit fine. Strange. Good review however. S5 is a whole different weapon, but mine is close to $70k. Be well.
AxiomAssets I guess you got a fully loaded Prestige S5 and paid MSRP. I was able to negotiate a loaded Premium Plus S5 at $60,500, but I settled on a loaded S3 for $46K because I’m alone in my car 99% of the time.
There is a noticably huge difference between the A4 and A5 Sportback. The A4 is just your normal sedan car while the A5 Sportback has a sloping roof-line and a more muscular shoulder line which gives it a whole different side-profile.
Trash id rather get the Buick Regal sportback for 15k less especially since reliability is DEFINITELY better with Buick And storage is 30 cubic ft and 60 cubic ft with the seats down that’s suv territory
@@sunshadow9704 the regal sport back did cut back on interior material for the cabin from the prior version which was upsetting but it’s reliable like a Honda but drives far nicer Buick isn’t American btw that’s why it’s the only division of GM that makes quality They rank above Honda and depending what year they rank over Toyota OR Lexus in terms of reliability for the last 7years they are in the top 3 I have a 13 regal Gs and it’s at 200k miles no issues aside from an 8 dollar fuse for my heated seats and having to reseal the headlight housing which was an exclusive problem with the regal generation I got :/ I might need a new boost sensor soon but they go for $12 w/ shipping and it’s easy to plug in I had a Toyota Corolla before and at 200k that thing felt like a trash can on wheels to drive lol sooo much wear but the motor never died lol My Buick after 200k rides sooo much better not like new but damn well close to it haha
@SnowBoarder&Skier Buick generates nearly 60% of GM sales just not in the USA people care about brand wayy too much Helps consumers on the used market at least that’s why I like Buick Reliable GREAT awd quiet soft ride with some fun performance 0-60 in 5.6secs And this car has more trunk space than a Mazda cx50 lol And in the USA ONLY they depreciate like crazy😂 Although I’m personally waiting for the Mazda CX-50 hybrid to come out next year Because the tax incentive and rising gas prices along with more expensive used car sales… it’ll be cheaper to buy new plus Michigan pot holes are annoyinggg Got a v6 Hyundai Genesis coupe and I hate driving it because the low stiff suspension… I prefer the Buick Regal GS I’ve got especially with snow lol
I have watched every A5 video on UTube and you sir have the Best Review of all ! Of course I Subscribed !
Great review. I wish the centre screen was retractable
Best AT Sportback review on UA-cam! Thanks
I got one as a loaner the other day and man was this car awesome! Want one so bad haha no way I can afford it though
He's 100% saying "cargaroos" at 0:43

Bruno TaTa I'm super sweaty and swear by the ventilated seats. That and heated steering wheel are up there with must-have accessories.

Terrific review and great overview of the differences between a A5 and A4. I am looking forward to seeing the new Buick Regals and the Kia Stinger...
Pete Romano the new regal looks boring
Great job by audi getting you a car that scoots for under $50K well equipped. The practicality of the hatch is perfect for those with dogs.

Please inform what is the colour of this model: Monsoon, Daytona or Manhattan?

Yeah, VW's have a bad reputation in reliability and over pricing their products. The KIA Stinger would defo be a good cheap alternative.
Samiur Rahman agree, not a fan of the vents. Also dislike the Ford Fusion hood.

Anybody know what color this is? Looks like Audi has a couple different metallic gray colors.
Excellent review as always! Thanks so much.
What color is that?
Would love to know as well! Daytona or Monsoon?
Manhattan Gray
The color is beautiful
Luka Slapar Manhattan or Daytona grey
That is Monsoon Gray. Daytona is not offered on the A5 Sportback, S5 only thus far.

Important. S line adds a 1" lowered sport suspension.
And it seems as if selecting the 19" wheels on prem plus and above, you also get the sport suspension. S line not required.

The Stinger is junk and creaks inside. See Savagegeese review.
Adeeb Shums Stinger by far the best choice. Better features, quality & warranty.
Fingertip writing is great.... if you’re not left handed like me 😆
I would love some Info comparing the Adaptive Suspension vs the Standard Susp on the A5 Sportback. Note: not the Sport Susp.
Beautiful car. I can’t wait for the Arteon to hit America so I can choose between it, this or the CLA45 as my next upgrade from my current 2.0T CC 😊
are those 19" alloy wheels noisy?
Waqas Bashir I have the 19" sport ones and road noise is a bit high (nothing like a non Audi though). Just not a8 level. There is some whooshing going on but it's a beautiful car and a joy to own.

I agree with your sentiment. It would be awesome to get the Audi A5 Sportback with stick shift.
Wait for the RS5
Yes I can't buy no cars if it's not stick
What is the name of this color?
Awesome 😀 😀 2018 Audi a5 sportback review .
The sound system is not that good. The bass sounds very distorted compared to my old 2015 Audi a6 with Bose sound system
Yes. The Bang&Olufsen sound system has been extremely dissapointing in my S5 Sportback. Planning to upgrade this to a whole new system in a couple months. Other than that, it's an unbelievably sick car. It's just the sound system that sucks.
Nice review, nice car
im 6.3 feet. please some one tell me im a will be fit to the driving position.?
wow ure so tall i wish i was that tall
Q7 review, please?
What color i that?
They need to integrate the tablet thats what i hate about mercedes c classes and cla.

I know you said the particular car you tested doesn't have the ventilated seats but do you know how long it takes for them to get cool from a cold start?
Regal Sportback 2.0T has more luggage space and costs $10,000-15,000 less.
and like $20k uglier
But 15K is not worth the same of being seen in a buick
It costs less for a reason.
Driving dynamic is terrible on regal.
Cheap plastic.
And poor American build quality.
Stay away.
So big now. The A3 is perfect size and looks better in my opinion. Wish the A3 had a manual option on top trim engines.
Do not hesitate to see our POV of the new Audi A5 Sportback ! :)

how much you sell it
?
that hood is so skoda.
The front is ugly compared to the previous gen which was more manly
So a A5 is a two door coupe but this has four doors like a A4 but is called an A5 Sportback....only de Germans.
Blake Swan Yes, Opel Insignia or Regal Sportback 2.0T in the states.
There is a noticably huge difference between the A4 and A5 Sportback. The A4 is just your normal sedan car while the A5 Sportback has a sloping roof-line and a more muscular shoulder line which gives it a whole different side-profile.
Dumbass
German vehicles rule.

Looks good
