This video was two years ago and they mentioned AI. Now AI is taking everything. But I think in regards about AI taking our jobs, we should utilize it to make our jobs easy. I just do hope the salary won't decrease lol. Thank you for this video. It's really helpful for aspiring technical writers. 😁😁
Thank you so much for this interview..! I am in a career transition, back in school, with an INTJ personality. It has been difficult to find a career match but this is right up my alley- in values and skills!
Thank you for this video because I have an interview for a technical writer role for a SaaS Company! My background is in mechanical engineering and HS education.
Hi! I was a photographer and before that, in the spa industry as an esthetician. Both jobs required 45 hour weeks of being around people, which was difficult as an introvert! I excel in grammar, have great computer skills, and interview well. There hasn't been a job I haven't gotten where I've had an interview, so at least I think I'm reasonably personable I graduated high school in 2008 and went straight into the work force. Is it typically required to have a degree or are you able to get certifications and begin a career? Thanks for such a great video! EDIT: Also, is there a way to find a "niche" in technical writing? I know quite a bit about photography, art, painting, etc. As a TW, do you have to work on a wide array of subject or is it feasible to find something with regular work that you're already knowledgeable in?
Very interesting for me as a curious newbie to hear from Sean. I echo the sentiments of the other commentators, this was very beneficial and enjoyable and I would encourage more interviews and discussions.
Great video! Can you please me out in this: How much salary one should ask in a remote technical writer job, specially when you are starting but you have written a lot of good and popular tech blog articles. Should it be based on country? What if there is no market for tech writer in your country, I am really passionate in writing tech, can you please help me out 🙏
hey so now in 2024 with the shadow of AI taking over our jobs is ever more looming over us, what's your stance on longevity of technical writer careers?. would be great if you can answer this question of mine.
Came here for technical writing and I’m glad I found another surfer!

Okay, after watching this I have a better understanding of technical writing and I'd like to transition from content / ux writing.
Do you have any advice to get into Cybersecurity as an Analyst/Procedure Writer? Are any Cybersecurity Certifications needed?
Did Sean mention "mirrorboards"? Did I hear that one correctly?
They're Miro boards. Great product to organize, present, and collaborate on information.
@@SeanWatsonR Thanks for clarifying, Sean!
So how much do you make as a technical writer?
thank you for this!
Do you need to have a perfect grammar for technical writing job? I guess answer will be “duh”😅
