  • This will always be one of the most epic football games in Penn State history, and not because it was a nail-biter. But because it was just the opposite, and because of who the opponent was. Ohio State came into Beaver Stadium as the second best Big Ten team with the second ranked defense in the conference. All Penn State did was annihilate that defense and demonstrate just how powerful the Nittany Lion's offense was, and what it was capable of doing. Penn State was ready for this game, no doubt. And the Buckeyes played solid early, on offense as they were able to move the ball, but couldn't capitalize. They had all-star tailback Eddie George leave the game with an injury late in the first quarter, but that wouldn't much matter. Then after seeing the deficit mount in the second quarter, OSU quarterback Bobby Hoying began forcing throws. PSU cornerback Brian Miller had a career day with 2 interceptions and almost with a third. The Penn State offense turned every single opportunity into lengthy touchdown drives in the second quarter. To add to it, they made it all look easy, and there was nothing Ohio State could to about it. It was pure dominance against a team late in the season vying for the top spot in the conference standings. The 63-14 drubbing still stands as the worst blowout loss Ohio State has ever suffered in its rich, longstanding football history. The 63 points were the most given up by an Ohio State team in 92 years, and has been the most points suffered since then as well. In theory, if Paterno wouldn't have called off the dogs midway through the third quarter, there was a good chance Penn State could have scored in the high 70's or even in the 80's. Enjoy this show of "Offensive Football 101" against a quality opponent!
    Penn State's Top Performers:
    Kerry Collins: 19-23, 265 yards, 2 TDs
    Ki-Jana Carter: 19 carries, 137 yards, 4 TDs
Bobby Engram: 6 catches, 102 yards, TD
Mike Archie: 5 carries, 42 yards, TD .. 4 catches, 37 yards, TD
Penn State improved to 7-0 with the homecoming win over Ohio State. The Buckeyes meanwhile, dropped to 6-3 and would finish 1994 with a 9-4 record. They lost to 6th ranked Alabama in the Citrus Bowl and carried a final AP Poll ranking of 14th by season's end.

People forget, our defense in 94 was very good, but they were on the field all damn day in great way, because our offense averaged 1:57 seconds when all was said and done after the season!!! WE ARE 🏈 Unrivaled

The defense was good. Didn't really give up many big plays that season. Some long and time consuming drives, yes. But they also suffered a lot of injuries throughout the year that I think most people forget about.

Yeah but they got robbed of a chance to play for the title. And fans of college football got robbed of one of the greatest games never played: 1994 Penn State vs. 1994 Nebraska.

Still can’t believe PSU wasn’t National Champions in 94. If it was Michigan or Ohio State they would’ve been champs..
