  • The Nittany Lions almost forgot to show up for this game and still ended up with a blowout win over a completely overmatched Temple team. The offense got by with it's legendary talent, and the defense played without intensity while letting Temple hold the ball and move up and down the field on them. After a three-and-out on the first drive, the Lions put together long drives to score touchdowns on their next four possessions, taking them to halftime. Collins, Engram and Scott were terrific despite a couple of miscues, and a scary injury to Carter in the second quarter slowed the rushing production. But all was well in the end as Penn State got it's large margin win, and Carter would be good to go for the looming showdown at Michigan.
    Penn State's Top Performers:
Kerry Collins: 19-33, 248 yards, 3 TDs, Int.
Freddie Scott: 4 catches, 115 yards, 3 TDs
Bobby Engram: 4 catches, 136 yards
Penn State moved onto a 5-0 record while Temple fell to 2-2 at the time. The Owls wouldn't win another game the rest of the year as they completed 1994 with a 2-9 mark. Temple was a member of the Big East Conference.

Many, many years ago I attended a game at Franklin Field. It was an interesting experience and we got to walk on the field through the end zone and out the portal after the game. And before that many years, the Eagles played there. I remember watching Steeler/Eagles games on TV from there. I liked the architecture of the buildings in the endzone. I never forgot it.

Wow nice find! Secondary play reminded me of last season lol. Offense did not.

It was good that the Lions had such a good offense since their defense was crap.

Penn States offense was legendary this year but that Defense was absolutely Pathetic and pitiful.

The Phillies were scheduled to play at Veterans Stadium that day. The baseball strike cancelled the rest of the season - but Temple elected to keep the game at Franklin Field as plans were already made to play the game there. (and big enough to hold all of the Penn State fans that attended - I was at this game - it was mostly Penn State fans).
