Dominick Guerra playing tenors is not about your peripheral view of your hands, you should know where the playing zones are. Also you should be looking at the DM, which in my case while marching, I was looking up.
@Nick does Quad drumming I never mentioned drumming skill. I am talking about knowledge of what goes into composing the music. Those 2 things are different is my point.
@Nick does Quad drumming Honestly, from what I see, it's just a lot of people being disrespectful. But if that's cool with you, then we disagree and move on.
I see what you're saying, but I actually think it has a lot more to do with the tuning of the drums and the geography than the snares actually not playing together. It sounds grey because those drums are tuned to have a rather deep throaty sound when played in the center, but part of the drawback of that tuning is that anything beyond the center sounds very open and (in my opinion) muddy... especially with snares on.
Cardboard drums, cardboard book. BUT, both are insanely clean and well done. Their endurance with "squeezed" diddle roll after roll is incredible. My metatarsals hurt just watching. Well done BD!
You see, kids? This right here is Exhibit A of how trying to use big words in an effort to impress people on UA-cam can sometimes backfire and make you sound like a bloviating fool. It's important to know what words actually mean *before* you start throwing them around. Oh and this "cardboard book" is better than anything you or anyone you know could write in a hundred lifetimes. Probably more.
I bet you felt pretty smart dropping metatarsals into your comment. Too bad you used it completely wrong and made yourself look like complete pseudointellectual fool in the process.
There were a lot of problems with the projection of their drums and bass muffling, so they had to axe the crap out of the book just to get everything to work with all the other sounds and to get everything to work with the feet.
I noticed that as well. Perhaps it's because of technical changes. I mean, he did come from the Bluecoats and they have a very different approach to drumming than the Blue Devils. But hey that's just my opinion haha.
i cant say that you are wrong nor right. coats is similar to devils on legatos. but i dont think after two years of being both lines he would do such a thing.
5 years late lol but BD really values leadership ability and maturity more than plain experience and age. Which is probably why Sean was center in ‘15 and ‘16 even though there were players older than him/aging out those years
Lake SuttonButtons might never happen, that should never the reason someone's center, Keelan Tobia (was/is) the best in the world and was never center, not even center three I think.
It's mostly a leadership position. Positive attitude and a coaching mentality that can motivate a group as well as be a constant example and role model for their peers. A "Center" Snare tends to be the line of communication between the line, the techs, and the corps' directors. Among being a leader, a Center Snare position holds the responsibility of communicating the drumline's needs as well as communicating the corps needs back to the line while maintaining great skills and work life balance. High Moral and ethic is considered a quality a Center Snare will possess. When snare players tend to be more egotistical, a Center will want to be more level headed and clear minded to make the best decisions possible when needed. Going above and beyond the fundamental values of a Drumline's member.
They changed b/c the original system blue carrier was just a bit too similar to the pearl design and system blue was interested in avoiding legal trouble
Sean glyde I believe, not sure how to spell it. The same person that does every year since his father passed. Steve glyde. There's a reason all of the beats from year to year sound a little recycled
i can definitely see where you're coming from, the approach is a lot more relaxed and flowing to fit the aesthetic of the show. it's a shame that the book was watered to hell, but they were playing some NOTES early on. cole and droobers, way to shit on someone for having a public opinion, real classy 🙄
@@mel-px7hl ratio + i am not insulting this person i am just stating that i vehemently disagree with their opinion + BD 15 had that SAUCE + I understand where you're coming from but imo that is genuinely a really bad take
@@droobers1314 OP saying that it was a hot take in the first place really makes both of your replies redundant and unnecessary. And I’m not denying that 2015 was a beast of a year, it’s personally one of my top 3 BD lines.
They watered this down so much from the original book, not to mention the writing is gotten in a rut the last couple years. Compare to SCV or BC's and its nowhere even close in technicality.
Except technically this is the hardest book out there, honestly. It doesn't look near as complicated on paper as SCV or Bluecoats but It has way more technically difficult stuff. And the technique of the line is the most consistent across the board of any other line. I can't imagine how hard it is to memorize this book, and I also can't imagine how long they had to work on the staggered entrance bit to get that clean. It has to be near impossible to get all 18 battery members to come into their individual entrance in time and clean in the middle of that patternless segment. But to each their own.
i thought the book was as difficult as ive seen in a while. I was very impressed overall but @15:23 was what I really liked. Its simple and easy to play BUT those single patterns alternating off the right hand lead then left hand lead are difficult to execute cleanly as a line. Its a very exposed lick for the snares and they freakin owned it.
Exactly, the thing this line does best is management of space. This book contrasts super fast rams with super open segments and they own both. It's crazy.
kiran phalke it's dci... there's really no need, plus it's exhausting to "perform" for an entire summer so why do something that doesn't matter and makes the day harder to get through
They're too busy focusing on the music not a lot of time to process their playing and their faces. The guard is doing less that's why they can smile all the time go watch them
Markiplier's Hero well, obviously someone as enlightened about Drumline as said "Markiplier Hero," would know that quads are fundamental to any drumline, and their sound gives variation between the instruments. Without quads, it would just be low-sounding and same pitch drums. Aren't quads supposed to sound cool??
They're actually super consistent if you go across the line and look at technique and approach. Also, they're playing super technically difficult stuff.
rip Brandon at 5:26
Oof
Wait bro I literally commented that too. I didn’t even see yours. Like exactly the same I just said 5:28
Great recovery though

No ❤️

Dear System Blue: Please never try making system blue cameras.
Im just realizing how many people in this line marched Bloo '14
There were even more that aged out in 2015 that marched bloo 14
Is it just me or does 13:23 sound really dirty? Especially for finals week

It was the type of buzz roll combos they were doing. Definitely not the cleanest sounding thing but I think it's how it was meant to be
they took out so many things in their book

Man, they watered this down quite a bit towards the end of the season :/

from there you can tell the rolls get sloppy, I can't hear a clean roll from the snares
There were a lot of problems with the projection of their drums and bass muffling, so they had to axe the crap out of the book just to get everything to work with all the other sounds and to get everything to work with the feet.
I wonder why they changed the tuning of their basses from C to D
So much tutti.
In the beginning look at Ryan's left arm when he does the legatos. Instead of doing what everyone else is doing his doing something different.

Was that a mistake by Brandon at 5:26? I've never heard him make a mistake before!
Yep, he got caught up in that admittedly really crazy thing at the end of the exercise and went on to the next section... Nice to know BD is human too
:-)
It's okay we still can be friends
Emory Blake brah, did I SAY he was a bad musician?
Emory Blake yea. I dig. I've just never seen him make a mistake before, so I was taken aback.
You guys are awesome! Hope I can get good enough to join a drum corp before I get too old
How do they decide Center Snare? It seems in BD it's not always based on experience
5 years late lol but BD really values leadership ability and maturity more than plain experience and age. Which is probably why Sean was center in ‘15 and ‘16 even though there were players older than him/aging out those years
Wtf they took out the tenor split?!
I just realized that today while I was watching the live stream
+Sebastian Garcia the judging on perc for BD was odd. One night they were given first and fifth
Maybe if their tenors weren't tuned so gosh darn high
+smoshman6000 I don't think it was due to the voice over. The quote is shorter than the actual feature
It was precisely because of the overbearing electronics from the Front Ensemble, so they took it out.
