They took the context of level of hand eye coordination, concentration and reflex movements needed to pick the sports, and hockey and table tennis were the most similar in their criteria I guess. All these videos are the same basic idea and I guess they have a criteria list to match them

Jv9673 kinda agree but they would a have a general idea but they might hold the stick differently in hockey. I play hockey and field hockey. In hockey I hold the stick left handed but in field hockey your forced to play right handed. The rules are also pretty different too so it would actually be challenging for field hockey players as well as hockey players too cause like I said the rules and the way the game is played is so different. Trust me I still get confused in field hockey 😂

I actually clearly said that they are two very different games, you know the major one being one has ice and the other one doesn’t? Plus did you ever consider that we have a 99.9% chance that we live in different countries and have different names for some sports? Apparently not.

this hockey player plays better than my Physical Education teacher in table tennis.
Table tennis is probably the easiest sport to pick up and play but the most difficult to play at a high level. You can't even get the ball back to the other table if your opponent is a decently good player. The spins are brutal and very hard to read.

Not that I play either sport, but it looked like the field hockey player needed a lower stance at the ping pong table, and the ping pong player needed a lower stance on the field hockey pitch. It's like the response to an unfamiliar situation is to straighten up?
I think it's the unfamiliar situation. They concentrate just on the ball and so on and not on the stance
God dammit guys. Just reading these comments make me laugh. I don’t think any of you should be getting triggered by the word calling this sport “hockey”. Now don’t get me wrong everyone is entitled to their own opinion on what the actual name is of the sport, but I just ask not to comment things like “ field hockey is a disgrace to sports” or “field hockey shouldn’t be a sport” because even if you think it’s okay voicing your opinion, sometimes you just need to be careful of what you say or how you word it because some people (like me) live and breath for this sport and it brings me so much joy. So next time you’re voicing your opinion think hard about what your actually putting. Thank you for your time.

Armandson I’ve been playing hockey (all forms) for years and years, and they’re both completely different. No similarities other than the stick shape and the name. You can’t compare them in any way, so I suggest unless you have experience in both you don’t even try to make comparisons.

Weird thing is I always thought of field hockey as a somewhat sexist thing. The guys all play ice hockey and for whatever reason the girls only got this and I felt bad for them. Apparently it's a real thing though

Ice hockey isn’t really played anywhere else outside the US or Canada. Most of the world play hockey or as you might call it “field hockey”. It is the original form of hockey and much more common, it just doesn’t have as much hype to it because it doesn’t have anything like the NHL giving it popularity.

Actually indoor field hockey is quite fast. It uses the same stick but skinnier and is played on a smooth court surface similar to volleyball. It is actually in the Winter Olympics.

Umm both ice hockey and field hockey can be played on multiple surfaces for example their is indoor field hockey that is played on a indoor court surface and has a different skinner stick. That field hockey is in the Winter Olympics because it is primarily a winter season sport. Field hockey played on turf or grass is regular field hockey. Ice hockey can also be played on the same court surface but on roller blades. Idk if that’s in the olympics though.
Actually no. That's incorrect, you see there's ice hockey, roller hockey, indoor hockey and hockey. They're different sports because they have different equipment.

That's a league, not a sport. It's like saying FIA is the real racing, or that saying FIFA is the real soccer.
Both are forms of hockey that are vastly different. They can’t be compared because of how different they are, and arguing which hockey is the real hockey is entirely stupid. Both are real sports, real forms of hockey, and have their own appeals. The “real” hockey is different depending on location, culture, history, and simple preference. Definitely not on salary, popularity, or how the game is played. So, how about you settle down and appreciate that all different parts of the world are different, and some people have other opinions than you do even in the same part of the world. For example, I live in a place that is primarily ice hockey based, yet field hockey is the real hockey to me because I am a field hockey player. Don’t get me wrong, I love watching ice hockey with all of my heart, but it’s just simple preference! Someone that likes ice hockey will claim one thing, and someone that plays field hockey will claim another. So let’s just settle and be friends, and appreciate both sports for the game being played and NOT the name.
