- Use this video to help you rebuild your own Ezgo Robin gas engine. I show in detail the steps to assemble the engine using a rebuild kit I bought on Ebay (link in description below). This video is one of three where I remove, tear down, and rebuild and install the rebuilt engine. Use the other videos for instructions on performing those tasks too. I made a very BAD ASSUMPTION during the build. Be sure to watch to the end to see what it was.

Very honest of you to show your mistakes as most do not. Top quality info and very well put together- with excellent info and presentation.
Hi, thanks for watching and the very kind comments. I really appreciate it!
Awesome video! I had a similar issue with a golf cart and your videos helped me every step of the way to rebuild the engine. The golf cart runs amazing now. Thank you!!
Hi, thanks for watching and the comments! I'm glad it worked out for you. I think you may have already but if not please consider Subscribing and likeing the videos. I would really appreciate it as I strive to build my channel, each and every subscriber is very important to me.
@@NINEPOINTFIVEPROJECTSafter all the help. You have my subscribe!
I rebuilt a club car engine about 3 years ago,a little less intensive as the robin engine, but now I need to do my ezgo golfcart & this is a great video to follow..I commend you for the mistake making that noteable and corrected .I will go through the process very carefully and will buy that kit for this rebuild. Thanks for the detail.
Hi thanks for watching and the comments. Let me know how your rebuild goes. Mines still running great. I think you may have already but if not please consider Subscribing and hitting the like button. I would really appreciate it.
Thank you so much for this great series! Your videos were key to helping me & my son rebuild our '98 TXT with this exact engine!
Hi, thanks for watching and the comments. I'm glad the videos were helpful to you. Mine is still running strong as well! Check out other videos on my channel as you might find other projects you and your son might tackle. Either way, I think you may have already, but if not please consider Subscribing and hitting the like button.
One of the best how to videos I’ve ever watched. Thank you

Nice video and job. We all learn from our mistakes. It’s just the way it is. At least you admitted yours, that’s the hardest part. 👍
Thanks 👍
thanks for sharing, saving some bucks by not having to buy a ring compressor was worth the watch for me. I'll have to check the valve spinner tool for a better model.
Hi Phatz, Thanks for watching and the comments! The thing about using the soda bottle is that the edge that goes down to the block has to be cut fairly straight, otherwise the rings tend to come out a little between the block and the bottle. Also, I thought I had a decent set of the valve spinner tools but apparantly not... Either way I do appreciate you watching. If you have'nt done so already, please do me a BIG favor, hit the like button and subscribe please. As you can see I'm a pretty new UA-camr and every sub helps a lot.
Good Job, I bought the same kit to rebuild my motor, hopefully it comes in today.
It's really not bad to install. Just make sure you put spacers back on the crank and counterbalance shafts the same way they were when you disassemble..
Great information thank you for video and step-by-step instructions
Hi. Thanks for watching and the comments. I really appreciate it.
this reminds me of the old green Fiat you brought back to life 40 years ago..... 40 years!!
Hi, and thanks for watching and the comments! Yes I know, 40 years ago! We drove that car to Houston Texas. Got sunburned pretty good. Time is getting away from us.
Great video…. Thanks for sharing

@@NINEPOINTFIVEPROJECTS I’ll be taking my engine out this week and will reference this video when I do my rebuild….. I also subscribed to your channel…. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the Subscription! I do appreciate it. I have other videos on the golf cart you might find useful. Removing the engine, replacing the engine are a couple.
Neat spin on the ring compressor!
Yeah it worked pretty well. You just have to make sure you cut it good and straight so that it contacts the cylinder evenly all the way around. So the rings won't pop out...
Thanks for the video!

Very well done I can tell
Me were to line the timing sits again

Go back to the 90s I worked for E-Z-GO Textron down in Hayward and those new two cylinders came in Harley-Davidson but wouldn't put their name on it if you pull the seat back and bypass the governor that Carl do almost 55 mph
.
thank you! i did same thing on timing but still on bench building it so not big deal.
Yeah, I would have bet money that the white mark was the correct alignment, but guess not. Glad you caught yours before being installed. I had to pull my motor when I realized what I had done? Let me know how yours turns out.
@@NINEPOINTFIVEPROJECTS Turned out great and runs like a top!!! glad i didn't have do it twice thanks to you!!
Glad it worked out for you (especially on the first try!). Thanks again for the comments!
Nice job !
Thanks Pat! I appreciate it.
Great tips in your video! I just pulled my 99 TXT in the shop and getting ready to tear down. My issue is smoke, oil use and about 120psi compression. I think it's prob the valve seals, bit since I'm cracking the egg, I may as well make the whole omelet.. I found a few different rebuild kits, one does not include the rods and drive belt for about 1/2 the price. Do you think it was worth replacing the rods? thanks again for the video!
Hi, thanks for watching and the comments. I doubt that the rods needed replaced in mine but they were included with the kit I found. I didn't see the kit you're talking about. Good luck with the rebuild (omelet haha) and let me know how it goes for you. I think you may have already but if not please consider Subscribing, liking and tapping the bell icon. I would really appreciate it. Thanks again.
Where did you get your cylinder honing tool?
Just got my engine removed from the cart. Your videos are super helpful! I subscribed.

And Thanks a lot for subscribing!!
@@NINEPOINTFIVEPROJECTS was the tool just a generic size, or did it have a certain size or specification?

great vid. thanks
Hi Will. Thanks for watching the video and the kind comments. I really appreciate it!
Thanks for the video. Im in the planning stages of doing mine. I have a question for you. My compression is still 170 on both cylinders. Did you go back with standard size ring set or oversized?
I went with the standard size kit.
If your showing 170 compression in both cylinders may I ask why you are planning a rebuild?
I was asking where is your shop whete you do your rebuilding
Oh I understand now. I'm not a repair shop. I just rebuilt my own cart and showed how I did it in the video. If you haven't done so already please consider Subscribing and hitting the like button. I would really appreciate it.
I’m doing the same thing, and following along with you. I bought the same gasket kit as you, it has not arrived yet. Does it have gaskets for the carburetor and exhaust?
Hi, thanks for watching and the comments. Yes it has all the gaskets in the package. Let me know how yours turns out. You may have already but if not please consider subscribing and hitting the like button. I'd really appreciate it. Good luck!
Would you have a video on replacing the cdi on a 03 TXT?
Hi, thanks for watching and the comments. Unfortunately no I don't. Sorry. I think you may have already but if not please consider Subscribing and hitting the like button. I would really appreciate it! Thanks
So what time will I work for him they wouldn't let us take those motors apart that you would take him out as whole and send them back to the manufacturer cuz they were fresh out of the gate the bearings that were replaced in the shoe cycle engines that they had were actually frozen in the freezer really cold and the houses were heated and they were just dropped in to prevent any damage or shaking to the bearing if you hear the bearing when you put it in you've tapped on it wrong
.
There must be plenty of space between the pistons & the valves & doing the timing belt wrong with most other engine would be a bent valve or 2.
Hi thanks for watching and the comments. I'm not sure if the engine is a non-contact engine or not. I guess if it is I was lucky and apparently where I had it out of time was still at a point to where the valves wouldn't hit the top of the pistons.. Either way I think you may have already but if not please consider Subscribing and hitting the like button. I would really appreciate it!
It’s been 5 months, with going back with standard rebuild kit, how is the engine running now.
It's still running great!
@@NINEPOINTFIVEPROJECTS thanks, just tore down daughters 1999 cart, 1 connecting rod crapped out, but rather than boring and oversized piston, I’m encouraged to go back like you did. Rather than going with parts from local golf cart shop at 569.00 parts plus tax. Great video thanks a lot.
On the original coil it is depressed and a plug with 2 wires goes in there to make the connection. Can the red and white wire be switched and it still work? Or is the pulse (white wire) specific to its placement
Hi thanks for watching and the comments. I'm not sure if it matters or not, but I have the white wire towards the front. Hopefully this response isn't too late to help you. Either way, if you haven't done so already please consider Subscribing and hitting the like button. I would really appreciate it. Thanks again.
@@NINEPOINTFIVEPROJECTS hello. I'm still trying to get to the bottom of this. I just contacted ezgo and got the yr and model, 2006 MTP 1200. My coil has two pins in a depression in which a connector snaps in. Problem is that the previous owner cut the connector off. Do you have any resistance values for this coil? I am assuming you test the resistance through the high tension side
@@frontlinemedia4270 unfortunately I don't have the values and I'm not to where I can check them for you. I probably can Monday if that will help you.
@@NINEPOINTFIVEPROJECTS OK. My understanding is that there is the trigger wire and the 12 volt wire that goes to the coil. I'm thinking of putting 12 v directly to the coil to see if I get spark. I am almost out of options. Any thoughts?
I am reasonably sure that one side does get 12 volts, but not until the accelerator is depressed slightly.
When I torque the rod arm to the crank the crank won’t turn it locks it up any idea why it is doing that
Hi thanks for watching and the comments. I'm not sure I'm following what you're asking.
Do you have new rods?
@@NINEPOINTFIVEPROJECTS no I reused the original ones just put in the new pistons
Hum, that's really odd. Do you have them turned the same direction as they were when you removed them? Is the crank pushed completely into the case? If you didn't get the crankshaft completely back into the case the rods might be binding when you tighten them down.
@@NINEPOINTFIVEPROJECTS I do have them the same direction they were removed along with the marks lined up. I will double check to make sure I have the crank pushed all the way in and I will let you know. Thanks for your help.
I am looking to rebuild what might be the same engine its a 2006 ezgo 295 engine. Is this the same?
I think all the 295 engines are the same.. thanks for Subscribing! I really appreciate it.

Unless you are General Motors or Ford motor company.

I cant tell where this place is
Thanks for watching and the comments. I don't understand what you're asking?
I did the timing mistake with the dot. I should have watched the whole video oh my gosh 3rd time the charm

Did the manual pages come with the new kit?
Hi and thanks for watching. The kit did not come with any documentation that I recall. Torque specs can be found on the internet if that's what you're referring to. Let me know if that's what you need and I'll try to point you in the right direction. If you haven't done so already please consider subscribing and hitting the like button. Thanks again.
I just rebuilt mine again the last thing I took apart was the head all four valve seals had come off.
If you clean and use the old filter the o-ring in the oil filter should be replaced the filter should fit snug on the nipple, I will get back with the size. The valve seals will come off I glued them on with super glue. I use the same kit you use and have had the seals to come off. I would like to know are they supposed to be that easy to push on? Why because it’s not normal they fit so easy, I don’t think so. The last kit I got from Fayetteville NC the timing belt was a bad fit a real bad fit. I would like to know where you got the info the chrome faced piston ring goes on the middle grove?. Just curious.
To finish up I have never seen valve seals push on that easy are the oil scraper ring be chrome faced.
Small o-ring engine side cover to engine case -010
oil pump cover -134
amall o-ring inside oil filter -111
Hi thanks for watching and the comments. The only thing that indicated which ring went where was a chamfer on the inside of the ring which turned out to be the chrome one. I think you may have already but if not please consider Subscribing and hitting the like button. I would really appreciate it.
