1972 Ford Pinto Clean Up and Evaluation

In this video, I really need to see what I have with the 1971 Pinto I recently purchased so I remove the left over stuff from the rodents, seats, rotten wet carpet, and headliner. I pressure wash it all to reveal significantly more rust than I was expecting. Either way I'm going to continue on. Lawnmower Paddle Boat

I mount a riding lawnmower into a boat. I add paddles that are powered by the lawnmower that provide forward and backward motion for the boat. I also rig a system that allows me to steer it using the steering wheel of the lawnmower. A one of a kind thing for sure! Please consider Subscribing and liking the video. Also leave a comment giving me your thoughts on this crazy rig! Thanks, NPFP

    apparently all you have to do is drill one or two small holes in the back of the speedometer (through the white plastic) so long as you are careful not to drill into any electronics. you can hold a bright LED light against the housing to see the shadow of electronics boards. the hole(s) allows the speedometer to breath and release the moisture.

    Drill a 1/16th inch hole in the back just piercing the housing to equalize the temperature it will quit fogging up. I put up with mine that way since day one, I live in southern Oregon and deal with humidity and cool temperatures. Mine does not ever fog anymore. 2019 softail slim

      Hi thanks for watching and the comments. I have to disagree with you about some things. First I bought the device that actuates it on eBay for $75. I used scrap steel I had laying around. That and the bearings, shaft and bolts is all the cost I had in it. So, total cost near $100. I designed and built it because that's what I do and enjoy seeing my ideas come to life. I really doubt you could find anything to do this for less than $1000 bucks. Either way, all is good and I appreciate your feedback. I think you subscribed and I truly appreciate it. I'm an old timer and do this stuff because I enjoy it.

    What about sound? I would have liked to have heard it.. I want to add a paddlewheel to a pontoon. My first thoughts were an electric hub motor on a bike rim with a belt drive,but then it wouldn't have reverse, then i thought maybe a golf cart motor,but,i think the plan of a solar powered paddle boat may be a tad over complicated.. i think i may just go this route,but use a smaller atv,but with a sternwheel instead of side.. plus, there's a lot of quieter exhaust pipes available for it... great idea.

    There must be plenty of space between the pistons & the valves & doing the timing belt wrong with most other engine would be a bent valve or 2.

      @NINEPOINTFIVEPROJECTS Місяць тому

      Hi thanks for watching and the comments. I'm not sure if the engine is a non-contact engine or not. I guess if it is I was lucky and apparently where I had it out of time was still at a point to where the valves wouldn't hit the top of the pistons.. I think it would be fun to restore an old Pinto, don't care what anybody says, they were cool little cars! I would think now a more modern engine could be installed or at least more modern parts in an original engine. Seems like about every 30,000 miles the rings would be shot and it would be throwing oil all over the under side of the hood. I don't know much about working on cars but I did replace the timing belt on my Pinto many many years ago. I also replaced the left front fender and the hood after I had a little fender bender. I would need to learn a lot about cars to ever be able to rebuild one. For now I'll just have to enjoy watching you rebuild yours!

    • @NINEPOINTFIVEPROJECTS

      Hi thanks for watching and the comments. It seems to change a lot depending on temperature. Yes I'm not certain but it does seem that the rubber roof does pull away from the wooden roof under it. I no longer own that RV so don't really know how it's doing currently. @@NINEPOINTFIVEPROJECTS Thanks for quick reply. Hmmm, interesting, not sure what to think of it. When you completed your repairs, did you have the RV long enough to determine if you resolved those leaks? I am dealing with cab overhang on class C RV, more less same trouble, corners, front/ side window and trims. Nightmare. And yes, I subscribed, will watch some more videos now….

    • @NINEPOINTFIVEPROJECTS
      @NINEPOINTFIVEPROJECTS Місяць тому

      Hi again. Yes I stopped all the leaks and do recommend the Eternabond tape. I just think it expands and contracts with temp more than the original rubber roof. It was not turning loose. The stuff is sticker than anything I have ever seen. I think it's key to clean the area extremely well.

      @@NINEPOINTFIVEPROJECTS Hard to say just from video but the wrinkles and air pockets got me seriously concerned. Yah, I got the Eternabond tape it sticks to anything indeed, just very concerned about down the road as I plan to keep the RV for years. Do you live in very rainy location? Spark plugs dont "turn off" especially due to throttle position..

      On a golf cart when you let off the gas completely, what causes the engine to stop running? 🤷‍♂️

    • @NINEPOINTFIVEPROJECTS
      @NINEPOINTFIVEPROJECTS Місяць тому

      Hi thanks for watching and the comments. When you let off of the gas pedal, the butterfly valve in the carburetor shuts off cutting the fuel/air mixture to the engine. It also shuts the power to the coil off which stops the plugs from sparking at least that's how I understand it. Hi thanks for watching and the comments. I'm not too worried about it. They are really not trusses but are rafters. I only notched one 1 1/2 inches deep. I also have 2 x 4 purlins spanning across the tops of the rafters. I'm confident it will be fine. Either way I do appreciate your feedback.
