Michael Clarke Duncan, a big man in every sense of the word. Too young to die, too good to ever be forgotten.
Mad Geordie amen to that
Everyone is forgotten
Just perfect ! Please NEVER,NEVER, NEVER, TRY TO MAKE A REMAKE!!
I hope copycats won't !!
I hope so,this isn’t a movie ,this is the MOVIE,on the miracle of life and death,
You read their minds
I agree. A re make never. I could. Never. Work
This, it was a perfection that can only be ruined by any attempt to remake it
Best cast ever. Every actor, small or big role was perfect. Thanks for this wonderful movie. I hope people 1000 years from now will watch it and learn
I bought this movie and I'll bet I've already watched it 35 times...I love it and I watch it whenever I feel like it!

Adi Adrian I know it truely is a master piece nothing will top it
Nothing will top it? It's just your opinion, not an irrefutable fact.
@@joeblack8915 it's mine too. There's something magical about this one.
A very sad RIP to Michael Clarke Duncan, Michael Jeter and Dabbs Greer....... You guys were one of the many that made this movie one of the emotionally powerful and best movies of all time. Legendary movie from a legendary book with legendary characters played by legendary actors.
As a writer, I tell anyone who will listen to me that The Green Mile is the pinnacle, the very zenith of storytelling. There is not a single extraneous thing in the original novel by Stephen King or the brilliant screenplay adaptation by Frank Darabont. Every little bit of it serves to move the story forward, there is not one iota of fluff or exposition. If you're looking for an absolute shining example of what ensemble work can achieve, this is your movie.
King himself said that of every adaptation of his work, this is his favourite.
There will never be another movie like this! Mr Duncan, Rest in peace. .. too young to die. . . Hats off to you all.
when Michael started talking about his dad and the way he connected it to his role I started fucking crying, I hope people remember this movie until the end of time.
“On the day of my judgment, when I stand before God, and He asks me why did I kill one of his true miracles, what am I gonna say? That it was my job? My job?”
yeah that line always got me aswell,
One of the most powerful movies I've ever seen
This movie was so amazing and so beautiful . It was one in a million.
It was as good as Shawshank imo both Stephen King masterpieces with great characters both set in prisons with good casting and direction.
... and long may it remain so. 🙏
It was perfectly executed the first time around. ❤️
One of the greatest collections of actors we’ve seen in decades.
Can't believe I am only just seeing this in 2018. One of the most powerful movies ever created and inline with the cast and crew, they all did a truly phenomenal job in this utterly brilliant collaboration. Thumbs up to Bruce Willis for the suggestion of Michael for the role too. RIP both Mr Michael Clarke Duncan, of course Dabbs Greer and Michael Jeter. Respects to all who were moved by this movie. It was surely one of the best.
What an amazing film this is ,makes me cry every time I watch it .yes rest in peace to all we've lost .
Watched it almost 20 times always catches my breathe everytime
Both... :)
Banton Radio d[-_-]b I can’t watch it, it makes me cry every time........I’m a 37 year old manly man!! I love this film but it gets me evertime. The most emotional scene for me is the one with the wardens wife and john coffe, where he takes away her illness. Through personal things that have happened in my life, this really strikes an emotion that I can’t control 😢💙💙
@KG UK Hmm... Thats a tough decision ! I can't decide, so I'd have to say it's Both .
Michael Clarke Duncan gave the great speech on the end! Great person, great actor. RIP!
The BEST FILM I have EVER SEEN.... These Actors are the REAL DEAL..
Stephen King is a genius!!!
Shawshank redemption , pvt Ryan, Green Mile all outstanding
Please boss. Don't put that thing over my face... Don't put me in the dark "I's afraid of the dark"
That scene was so heartwreching 😥
😢
Broke me when he said that...
That line alone should have won him the Oscar.
John Jackson hits me every time
So sad that Michael Clarke Duncan passed away without giving all of us more of his incredible talent. But this role showed us his greatness, and I thank him for that.
He'll be back. I trust in Gods promises.
Daniel 2;44
Rev 21;3-4
Eccl 9;10
Acts 24;15
Steven SteveO 🙏🏻 Amen
Hear, hear. 🙏❤️🙏
@KINGT1GER why does it hurt you for others to express their faith?
CarolJ2013 no but it's typical of the hyper religious to judge others
Matthew 7 :: NIV
even the documentary makes me cry. aah
The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile?
Common denominator?
Frank Darabont, clearly.
(Stephen King goes without saying)
Two of the greatest films ever produced.
End Of
This was I believe one of the top 10 greatest movies of the 20th Century
One of the greatest films ever
It's terrible thing when someone you know or love dies but there is something truly special when a person comes along who you never met and only know of by a movie they acted in, affects you almost the same when they die.
That's how Michael Clarke Duncan's death affected me.
When a man acts a part as well as he acted John Coffey, much of his very being goes into the part, he was John Coffey and John's death was a terrible blow with a feeling of great loss, as is Michael Clarke Duncan's passing.
All the actors in the Green Mile did a brilliant job and I thank them for leaving us with such a masterpiece.
Cannot love this film enough. It’s a masterpiece. And I rarely use that word to describe a film. It’s almost as good as Stephen Kings book.
Still one of the best movies ever made
A true modern classic ,one of the few times hollyweird touched my heart!
I usually don't re-watch movies, but this one I've seen countless times.
JOHN COFFEY'S PART WAS THE BEST IN MEMORY.
THE MAN WHO PLAYED THE PART OF THE OLD TOM HANKS WAS IN A HEART WRENCHING ROLE ON BONANZA.
HE WAS HANGED AND WAS ALSO INNOCENT I'LL NEVER FORGET BOTH PARTS.
WISH I COULD FIND IT . SO MOVING.
This film was magical. The writing was on the wall during their table read.
Green Mile is my very favorite along with Shaw Shank. I never get tired of these movies.
What an outstanding and generous actor Tom Hanks is! You always hear such great things about him as a great human being who really cares about his work and others. I remember seeing this movie for the first time wondering who Michael Clarke Duncan was and where they found this gentle giant to play such a huge role. What an outstanding job he did holding his own talent with some of the best actors in the business!
no
idea am no fan of Mr Tom Hanks never was
watch the movie last night. reading novel today . Stephen King is a literary genius
I've only cried to 1 movie ever. That was this movie. Such an incredible film.
Ha! Yes, even this video has me in tears.
Good and the bad and the ugly was to wonderful movie
After watching this movie on numerious times, it still brings tears to my eyes and the times these people live. Hanks and crew are so awesome! A movie for all times.
So agree with you.
I saw The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile back to back. I noticed that some parts of the sets were reused (the room/ceiling bars where Brooks in Shawshank hangs himself was also in one of the houses in Green Mile). I love these two movies and watch them every few years or so. I wish the director will make another emotional ride as these movies. I like The Majestic as well, but not nearly as much
Jay30k I was just about to write about both the movies you’ve mentioned. To me personally both movies are on the exact same level for prison based movies but for different storylines! These two are my all time favourite prison based movies, both with fantastic casting for every character that you can’t fault them. And I haven’t seen and don’t think I ever will see anymore prison based movies that are so faultless. No director will ever be able to create movies like these two ever again. That’s just my personal opinion and I don’t cry at sad movies but these two have me balling every time I watch them.
Still, after nearly 30 years, one of my all-time favorite movies. So believable and heartfelt, but still magical. I was half in love with Michael Clarke Duncan after this movie, may he rest in peace, forever.
One of the movies I can’t get through without balling like a baby..... I cry almost through the whole thing. I just can’t understand the cruelty of humanity, as John Coffey was describing.. but the love and kindness really gets to my heart! RIP, Michael Jetter, Dabbs Greer, Michael Clark Duncan
I have watched this movie at least a dozen times. It never gets old. I know every scene but I always see something I never saw before. An amazing movie and some of the best acting I have ever seen.
emotional movie. always stayed with me
Just watched it again tonight. Cried my eyes out as always. I love Stephen King's work and this was an amazing portrayal of his book.
LOVE this movie Patricia Clarkson and James Cromwell AMAZING along with the whole cast pure movie magic...RIP JOHN Coffey like the drink only spelled different.
Michael Clarke Duncan made this movie. His role was so spot on. What an amazing transformation of a person and character.
I sat and watched this while having my lunch in a cafe. And had to HIDE my choking up about every
Ten minutes (by coughing. ) of this GREAT film and I’ve seen it twice! It’s cirtainly a heart puller.
But thats 1 Stephen king 2 the talented actors that goes with it.
My stepfather once told me that if a actor can make you love or hate their character, then they have earned their pay & your respect.
Watched this for the first time while at a cancer clinic donating platelets for my ailing sister in law. The film was exactly the right length to keep me distracted with large bore needles in both arms. The cancer that Michael Duncan's character cured, in this brilliant picture, could not be defeated in real life and claimed my sister in law later that year. Every time I watch it, I remember Michelle. May God Bless her and both Michaels lost from this magical story.
Thank you for donating even though she passed, you made some difference. RIP to your sister in law.
The books came out in installments and I waited impatiently for the next to appear. i was a Stephen King, sure, but this was unlike anything I had read of his before. When the movie came out, I stood in line to get in and came out a changed person. A fantastic, almost unique film with excellent acting and Michael Duncan whose broad shoulders carried this film over the finish line.
This is a movie that brings tears to my eyes every time I think about it
The difference in personality - seeing Michael Clarke Duncan the actor vs. John Coffey in the film - awesome contrast. He did an amazing job in this role!!
I cry over and over again and lean so much about this movie thanks guy
Even though I am not religious and do not believe that any of these events could actually happen, the film is so well made and well acted, that it is almost believable. Obviously, the original story by Stephen King is what made the film what it is. I am in awe of someone like Stephen King who can come up with such an amazing story. I also love The Shawshank Redemption, Misery, Delores Clayborne, The Shining and to a lesser degree, Cujo. All by King. Master storywriter.
I don't think this movie is particularly too religious, at least not for me, but I do love how they capture such passion in it. And I do believe God loves us all and has a wonderful plan for our lives.
This films a magic one , every time I watch it I cry ,fabulous acting by the whole cast , rest in peace micheal.
This movie was like having all the battleships in one place. Top shelf actors and actresses all in one movie. My gosh no wonder it was an absolute piece of art. One of my favs. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Each and very one of the cast did and out standing performance. "The Green Mile" became a modern classic.
Perhaps the only movie my cold heartless being get all choked up while watching.
This was a great movie and a great cast. Michael was absolutely perfect in the role of John Coffey. And Tom Hanks is a legend, who is loved by his pears and is a great actor but hey everyone was perfect in their roles.. Each of them bringing a reality second to none. Everyone. Three have passed on now and that saddens me, but their legacy lives on in this film and in their performances. R.I.P. ya'll .x
It’s amazing to see how much these actors give of themselves on camera
5:32 - 8:25 is a great story in itself, as touching as it is clever
RIP
Michael Jeter and Michael Clarce Duncan.
I heard that Dabbs Greer (old Tom Hanks character Edgecombe I think) also died. This was his last role.
+Liora P Well, he was pretty old when he played Rev. Alden in LHOTP in the 70's, and he died in 2007. He lived a long and good life :)
What a fantastic movie, grateful that Duncan gave us this performance. Strong character, interpreted any way you wish.
RIP Micheal Clarke Duncan and Micheal Jeter and Harry Dean Stanton.
WALKIN THE MILE, WALKIN THE GREEEEEEN MILE!
what makes this movie even more sad is Michael Clarke Duncan is dead in real life
+Epic-Evan May his soul rest in peace
+Epic-Evan I always think of that when I see the execution. Makes it even sadder :')
Epic-Evan So is Michael Jeter, Harry Dean Stanton, and Dabbs Greer.
I was in detox with nothing else to do when I saw this picture. It moved me to tears. My roommate was the same way. I will not forget this movie. 2020
Bonnie Hunt has always seemed like a humble, classy woman. Beautiful.
Absolutely!!! I think she is a VERY underrated actress!
Garden Glow - I loved her in that movie "Jerry McGuire"
Jeezus....
Really like her, too; and yes, she is a natural beauty.
Most beautiful music I ever heard. Best movie of 1999. Amazing and haunting.
R.I.P Micheal Clarke Duncan ...
you were and you're STILL a great actor ...
I must have watched this movie a hundred times over the years. It is one of those movies you will never get bored watching. I also find a new understanding of scenes that I have missed in other times I've watched it. This movie sucks me in every time I watch it. Great job cast & crew!!
Truly amazing piece of cinematic art.
The Green Mile is one of my all time favorite movies. It is so moving. I’m so happy to know it meant so much to everyone who helped make such a thought provoking, intense and moving experience‼️ Thank you💜
An absolutely beautifully made film. Very upsetting at times, but honest and true. Cried my eyes out x
NO ONE could play John Coffey better than Michael Clarke Duncan. He was amazing. A bright light extinguished too soon.
This movie will never be duplicated! The entire movie is so moving and you are brought right in. Michael Clarke Duncan was amazing. He lives on!
when i was 10 years old i cried watching this movie with my dad XD
This movie creeped the fck out of me lol. But was pretty good
Austin Wu how did it creep you out?
Elliott Cullen He thought it was real
First....RIP M.D and M.J. Second....What a GREAT!!!! Movie. It is sooooo Underated...............
I love Doug Hutchison so much
i think I have watched the Green Mile about 20 plus times and will probably watch it a few times more in the future.
I was lookin 4 carl reiner & some Louis Nye,,, saw this, glad I found it...a perfect movie, in all aspects
Love Love LOVE the Green Mile! RIP Michael Jeter and Michael Clark Duncan :(
One of my favorite movies about what can do
This is one of the most perfectly cast films I have ever seen...it was like watching King's characters come to life.
I have watched this movie 4 time's, the 4th time just weeks ago, it is possibly the most amazing movie indeed, but then again Tom Hanks it would have to be right,
Ever since I first saw The Green Mile, it remains the high water mark I use for comparison whenever anyone recommends a movie to me. I realized that if I only watch movies as good as The Green Mile, I would preserve an integral quality of value in appreciation empathically speaking...
Problem is only a few movies have found a place in my heart since. I related so intensely with the analogy of "How It Is" everyday in The World, I felt they had somehow stollen my very thoughts and understanding identifying the harmonic vibrations of humanity.
RIP Michael Clarke Duncan !
It is September 2019 and this came on my you might enjoy. The Green Mile was and still is, a great movie. Glad I decided to view this.
Bonnie hunt had to gain about 20 pounds for that movie and she said that it took her about 20 minutes! hahahahaha! She's so funny!
And beautiful
After all these years & many viewings.. still one of my very very favorites.. the characters still bring me to tears... so so well done..
I love this movie, it is one of my all time favorite! :D
One of the best films I ever seen to date !!!
Michael Clarke Duncan had such a soothing voice, such a huge man but a gentle voice. I will love that movie until I'm old and show it to my kids.
A very memorable film.
Michael Jeter's comment about being forgotten about is so sad, such an emotional film and making of
In loving memory also to Michael Clark Duncan
グリーンマイルは透きな映画です。
何回も見て何回も感動して何回も泣きました。
Bloody brilliant movie , love all the actors ..TOM HANKS is a legend and MICHAEL CLARKE DUNCAN was soo bloody awesome , i loved him very sad his gone .. This film should never be remade I would JUST be wrong ..perfect just perfect film ..the cast outstanding
My son and my most favorite movie...Amazing especially for one who has been in the real life "GREEN MILES" of Sing Sing, Attica, Auburn, Green Haven, Auburn, Comstock, and Clinton Danamora; etc. etc. etc.
God bless director Frank Darabont for giving us Morgan Freeman in Shawshank Redemption and Michael Clarke Duncan in Green Mile!!!!
Amen to that.
One of the greatest movies ever to grace a screen.
Most of us, like me, don't always understand what actors do, and how they are affected personally. We the viewer often only see the completed version. May we be mindful of those that do what they do, to present to us, their field that THEY love so much.
Extraordinary performances in an extraordinary film.
This is most epic movies ever it has to reach the heart and soul eyes ears can reach so far
