Extra tip for using pvpoke with team building: start by picking a pokemon you really want to use on a team then press rate team. When you scroll down to potential alternatives, it’ll tend to prioritize pokemon that maximize meta coverage. Pick something from there and add it to the team. After you add your second mon from that list, you can repeat the process to find a good third pokemon. That said, don’t forget to be mindful of their roles and the style of team you’re going with. A team that has good coverage but doesn’t rely on anything to help gain switch or shield advantage will likely just depend on if you win lead or not which is not ideal. Just because something shows up at the top of the ”potential alternatives” list doesn’t mean it’s the best and you’ll likely have to go through different combinations to find a strong team. Also, for unfamiliar cups like limited cups, I personally like to keep an extra pvpoke tab open to quickly check what Pokémon are best for what roles in that meta so that I can take that into consideration when looking at “potential alternatives” in the other tab.
Problem is the lag. I've got several good teams, one is Garchomp, Zekrom and Lugia. I just had a battle that I would have won if it didn't lag. I was about to use a Sand Tomb and Earth Power combo with my Garchomp, but then it lagged. When it went back to normal my Garchomp was knocked out and my opponent had switched to Rayquaza.
As a new player, the biggest problem is having limited choice because I’m still nowhere close to a moderately full Pokédex. For the most part, I just have to throw together my strongest ones regardless of whether it makes sense. Also, thank you for the quick definitions of things. When I looked at pvpoke before, being totally new, I didn’t know what terms like “coverage” or “switch” meant.

Glad I could help! Resources and access to mons is defintely one of pvp's biggest hurdles
Right now rocking a foretress, greninja, and decidueye for halloween cup. It’s an AAB but there’s so few people running fire types that the fortress is just there to bait out golurk and let decidueye shred it with just fast moves. So close to 2500 elo with it.
Also don’t be afraid to experiment with off-meta Pokémon. Victreebel’s currently ranked 202 in the ultra league, but mine has handed me so many free wins as a lead. Even with suboptimal CP, IVs and moveset, it still hard counters a lot of the water & ground types that people commonly use, so they often just ragequit early
One thing I'm having trouble with as a new player to PVP is understanding the importance of movesets when looking at rankings on pvpoke and how to play without Elite TMs. I don't have any so I'm trying to understand if it's more important to ensure the pokemon used have the correct fast moves or the correct charge move if one or both are locked behind Elite TMs. Great video though!
I get that and I want to do that but I'm just having trouble understanding how much a pokemon's rating / synergy with other mons changes if we're limited on Elite TMs.
@@davidjvaliente go to pvpoke and team builder. you can specify moves. i usually add the same pokemon with and without elite move and compare its simulated battle rating near the bottom of the page
@@davidjvalientefrom my experience those elite TM moves are what makes it so strong, as its what makes the pokemon 'spammy' (can throw charge moves quickly to do a lot of damage or break a lot of shields). Usually its a high damage charge move you can fire off in 4-5 fast moves, sometimes you need an elite tm fast move too otherwise it takes too long to charge with the other fast moves. I ended up saving some of mine til I got an elite TM later. They sell them in the shop boxes sometimes if you don't want to wait for ages til they're in the research or end of season rewards.
Before Morpeko, I would make the effort to count move turns and try and memorise matchups. After Morpeko got introduced, I've just been like..."Aura Wheel go BRRRR!!" So yeah, this was much needed 😅 can't be caught lackin now Good video 👍 although I had made the effort to go into matchups and move turns, I never really got around to properly understanding cores, corebreakers and team formats. These explanations were super helpful I'm still super inclined to build teams using spice picks, mostly because I don't have as many meta picks but Ill definitely consider Pokemon roles a little more now. The teambuilder function is a little too dense for me still, but I'll keep hammering away at it. Wanna get to Veteran at least once sometime soon 🫠 My favourite team currently for the Great League Halloween Cup is Azumarill, Clodsire and...Morpeko 😅 For the Remix Cup I've tried running Clefable, Marshtomp and Alolan Ninetales/ regular Alolan Marowak The team suggestions by the PvP Discord team have been super helpful. Please continue to post them
Morpeko used to ruin my team, until I decided to use Clodsire. Earthquake charges up close enough to Aura Wheel, and if you protect on the dark type turns (that thing one-shotted my Drapion, I’m not taking chances), Morpeko will run out of shields before you do.
Great video, what is considered a good rating for a team? Lets say "F" is 1 point and "A" is 6 points, what total score is generally okay to climb? For example, 24 points would mean its AAAA
It seems to me that as good a team as I have, my opponents team is almost always reaching their max charge move before me, or my moves appear to be charged but they won’t engage. I’m pressing, pressing, pressing, but the charged Pokémon just sits there while the opponent’s Pokémon again “beats my time,” so to speak. Can you address this issue? Is this resulting from the lagging issue I’ve heard about or am I likely just being outmatched. It’s so frustrating to think I’ve charged my pokement and the thing won’t move to attack my opponent.

I completely suck at team building, how do I know? I go 4/5 three times in a row and then immediately go 0/5, because I get full countered five times, which makes no sense at all.
If you're new to PVP, I'd definitely recommend learning with an A-B-B team, definitely the most consistent/safe way to play
I am doing abb right now.

honestly whatever pvpoke says is what you should follow

The thing is i know how to play comp pokemon ive been playing comp since 2019. I just fairly new to pogo and dont have a team or get all the pokemon
Cool
Just need a good team that works with Charizard or swampert. Those my top no Cp limit pokémon has both hundos nearly make CP
Charizard and Swampert are both abysmal in master league so hundos of either are useless for PVP
Yeah, but you never know what you're going to go up against either. so it is a guessing game to know what to pick for a team 💯🤷🏽
My favorite Registeel is Regigigas.
My team in GL is Clodsire, Azumarill, Mandibuzz
