For what it's worth? Yeah, replying a 2 year old comment. Back at university, I had a house where 2-4 people lived and 2-3 girlfriends would swing past, plus friends dropping in. Budgets were tight, and schedules rarely matched, so one person would be going to bed when another was getting home from work. The crockpot generally ran from late fall to early spring with soups, beans, or chili of some sort in it 4-5 days a week. Don't recall anyone ever going hungry, although people did get tired of beans & rice. Sort of a low budget communal kitchen. So why did I reply? Why you think crockpots should be tossed in the rubbish bin?
Are you nuts?! One of the best inventions! Tenderizes cheaper cuts of meat, doesn't heat up the whole kitchen in summer, cooks your meal for you while at work & come home to dinner already made, no worries of fires or spilling or boiling over on the stove - not to mention an infinite variety of recipes, including desserts. AND a small crock pot you can use for making homemade essential oils with fruit rinds & oil. Endless possibilities
