I assign this recipe, a Greek salad, and greek music for my students during our unit on Ancient Greece. They have to prepare the meal for their family and take pics of the process. It is kid friendly to make and a family pleaser to eat. Many parents have told me it is now part of their regular rotation. Thanks Dimitra!
@nikoleburet2567 You must be an awesome teacher. I'm 71 yo and I remember teachers who tied lessons to real world activities. We had a pizza party when learning fractions, a luau when we studied Hawaii. I loved school
I know I already made a comment and said thank you for this recipe. But I am here again. This recipe made my Mother’s Day. It was the only thing I was craving, so I made it for myself. Made some homemade tzatziki to go with it. My family loved it and ate it all up. They can 5:31 sometimes be picky. Although the chicken comes out juicy and delicious, I think my favorite part is the lemony potatoes I dipped them in the Taziki sauce and it makes heaven in my mouth.
Can I just say how much I appreciate the way you write the recipes out!!!! I love that you put all the spices together, the marinade together and so on. It makes it so much easier when you're preparing to be able to find all the spices in one spot rather than looking and reading through the whole recipe. I'm a new subscriber I love your channel and I'm looking forward to trying all of your recipes as I'm trying to cook a more plant-based Mediterranean diet. I know your recipes aren't plant-based but it's a good jumping off point. Thank you for all the time and energy put into these videos I really appreciate it!
THIS DISH IS SIMPLE TO MAKE AND TASTES DIVINE! My wife, however, only eats breast meat and the first time I tried this, her meat was too dry. So the next time I made it, I followed Dimitra's instructions but then before it hit the oven, I pulled out the breast meat and set it aside for 15 minutes while everything else had a head-start cooking. I then added it back to the dish and the breast meat was perfectly cooked, moist, and delicious!
I just made this a couple days ago ...can we say yum 😋 I understand why ever greek household makes this it's delicious the skin what's nice and crispy my teen kids loved it I just made it with colorful fingerling potatoes so will make again
Thank you very much. I am changing up the menu at my place. My wife has been cooking for years, but I am now giving her a break, and today I served this dish. My daughter said I didn't know people could make food this good at home. Lol, thanks so much!
Exquisite Dimitra .. Love Greek food, love Greek people, visited Greece several times .. Know a. LOT about your culture and civilization .. Your warmth as well .. So much similar to us (EGYPTIAN). Your dish(es) are nostalgic to me SAGHAPIMOO ❤️❤️
I just made this for dinner tonight and it was absolutely delicious!! I made this with 4 lbs of chicken thighs so I used 1/2 cup olive oil with the 1/4 cup lemon juice. I also used more garlic because the more the better in my opinion but I did follow the spices as written (with added Paprika). As some people commented, I was worried about this drying up so I put in half a can of chicken broth before placing in the oven. I cooked it at 400 for 45 mins then turned it up to 450 for 15 mins. I did keep an eye on it in case the chicken burned. I am happy to say no burning and plenty of juice! So delicious, and I will be making again very soon!! You got a new subscriber 🙂
I just made this dish, following this recipe, and my taste buds are thanking me. I’m looking forward to trying more recipes from this channel. Absolute genius.
I'm going to try this recipe..I'm Italian and make a similar recipe ...but use a little red wine, onion and garlic as well ...I also use boneless chicken thighs ...I can smell this recipe you 've made and nw I'm getting very hungry!!! Thank You.!!!
Happy memories of my mum cooking this very same meal. Interestingly, at the time, I took it for granted because it was such a staple dish in our household. How lucky we were! Thank you!
This is a dish that I know very well and so easy to make. My father would make this a lot typically for a luncheon and sometimes for coffee hour in the Greek church. Just like you did, using olive oil, garlic, spices, real lemons for lemon juice and that is all you need. Opa!
I’ve made this several times and it was always a hit. Everyone has asked for the recipe. It melts in your mouth and has amazing flavour. I love all of your recipes Dimitras! You’re amazing!
So... I just made this dish.. I added sumac too.. omg! So good. I cooked much longer I used 9lbs of chicken thighs and legs. So I tripled everything. I cooked 425 1 hour and 450 for another hour or so then turned off oven and let chicken rest in there for 20mins. Dimitria... God Bless you! Toof toof! Pray you & your Family had a Blessed Mothers day!😇👌🥰
Durham Girl Sumac berries are picked, dried and ground into a coarse powder before being used in the cooking process. This powder is used to flavor salad dressings, meats, rice dishes and kebobs. Sumac can also be mixed with other vegetables such as onions and used as a condiment. Before the Romans learned of lemons, they used sumac for its sour and pleasantly astringent taste. They called it Syrian sumac.
When my family and I lived in Turkey our neighbor made the same thing She added rice instead of bread I searched and searched thinking it’s a Turkish meal for the recipe but never out it I ran into your video and it’s exactly the same thing I thank you for making it
Started making this recipe for my family of 6. Over 7 months ago & now it’s been my go-to recipe! We make this atleast weekly & it’s our family favorites!
I made this yesterday. I marinated the chicken starting Saturday night. Wow! This is definitely a keeper. This is the kind of food I like; delicious, and not a lot of last-minute preparation. Pop it in the oven and leave it till it's done. I gave it an extra 15 minutes at 450°. My husband loved it. The chicken was crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside; the potatoes were moist and delicious.
My husband adores this , having never liked chicken to much before . All your recipes are wonderful . They all work out well and Greek cooking has been a great new skill I have learned during our UK lockdown . We all love it and you are doing a fine job .
Omg !!!! I made this tonight .. like over 20 plus legs tray ... it was so loved by adults and children ... I had to say THank you 🙏 thank you . God bless you and your family . Although I did add ground onion powder to it 😄
This recipe has become a regular feature on my list of dinners I cook for my family. My 16yr old son has learned to make it as well. So delicious and easy, thank you!
Made this tonight along with your quinoa salad recipe. I started with the salad, so cool, crisp and tasty. Proceeded with the perfectly cooked potatoes, crispy outside soft inside, made better by the garlicky lemon olive oil juices. I would have been content with just the potatoes and salad but then you add the chicken and the whole family is satisfied. I'm so impressed with your recipes and glad I subscribed. Unlike other channels that only cook one item you demonstrate how to prepare a complete delicious dinner. Your family is very lucky.
I’m trying this recipe now it’s in the oven! I did put more seasoning in because the lemon and water kind of washed it off and needed more paprika and Mrs dash lemon seasoning . It looks and smells so good!
I moved in with my aunt and her family they’ve been making me delicious dinners every night and they asked me to take over Monday nights and surprise them so I’m gonna make them this and also a Greek salad thank you for the video.
I mean this in the most respectful way. you are so gerougous and smart any man is so fortunate to have you think you for all your recipes and your beautiful soul and personality that shines thru.
I have to do this recipie twice a week!!! Because all my family and friends love them sooo much!! Its absolutly great!! Faboulous!! Amazing and what you all have for words in english!! Greetings from switzerland!! We all love it!!
Made this yesterday, everyone was quiet while eating so I’m saying it went down a treat, thank you for the recipe, I added bell peppers and onions and in future will add lemon zest to round up the flavour
Dmitra, I just love this dish, a perfect combination in a one dish meal. I would suggest that you tr it my way of making one dish meals. Take the chicken thighs and place them in a covered cast iron casserole, Add all the the potato chunks and all the spices/herbs, adding abundant lemon juice &thin shavings of lemon rind, and only as much olive oil as you need to prevent sticking. Cokk for one hour in a covered casserole at 400 deg. Once the chicken is thoroughly cooked through as are the potatoes, the chicken will remain thoroughly moist and will have eliminated all the excess fat on the chicken. Simply gather the cooked potatoes into the middle, placing the chicken thighs on top so that the chicken will finally roast to crackling perfectly with another 15 minute in open casserole in a 425 or broiling temp, and the potatoes are especially tender and aromatic.
I 'm making this now. 35 more minutes to go. As soon as I saw your name I clicked. I LOVE your recipes. If I was rich I would hire you as my personal chef.
I have tried this recipe with one small variation, I like to give the chicken a quick 2 sided sear in a wrought iron skillet first. Oh and rosemary too! Thanks Dimitra 🙏🏼
Oh my goodness! When you mashed the potatoes, it brought me back to my childhood. My mom always mashed our chicken and potatoes. It was tastier with the blend of the chicken, potatoes and juices from the two. YUM! I love your recipes and will definitely make this for my family.
I like watching you sample you food. I'm not sure why this is a Greek food but is is called a Greek recipe. I learned it many years ago when I was in school. I was at a friend of mine at her house. He was so simple and would never venture outside of his beans potatoes and macaroni. Well greens and biscutes. He is still living and still like that. Thanks so much for sharing your recipe.
I JUST made this tonight exactly like you said to do it. It may be the absolute, no it IS the ABSOLUTELY best lemon chicken and potato recipe I've made! I'm sharing it with all of my Pampered Chef friends. The word that comes to mind with the flavor is "deep" and I've never used that word to describe a flavor!
I just began eating exclusively Mediterranean. I love everything about it. I am so happy I found you, and am making this and your white bean soup first! Onto a healthier way of eating!
Just made this for lunch. I had already tried a couple of other lemony chicken with potatoes but this one was definetely a hit! Very very tasty! Went down nicely with lots of bread!
Here is a variation of this recipe that I make, I slice fennel bulb, some of the stalk in bite sized chunks. Not too many. Maybe a cup and a half and I save a couple teaspoons of the fennel leaf ( for garnish after I take it out of the oven.) I season it with only salt and the olive oil lemon and garlic mixture. I do use the Yukon Gold potatoes. They soak up the lemon flavor and because they aren't a floury potato, they stay in nice form. It just looks nice that way imho. Especially if your making it for a for a nice dinner for friends. When you plate it on something pretty...😘👌 It's so nice. I do it like this because so many typical Americans I know don't have very adventurous taste buds. And they are suprised by the taste of the fennel and lemon. I found that many have never eaten fresh fennel. They are suprised by the celery and licoricey flavor. The kids like it too. Good taste for people who don't like the cumin, oregano. Especially not with chicken and potatoes. Some think those spices are only for Mexican and Italian food. 😂 I cook a lot of meditaranian, North African, and Middle East Food and I adjust the recipes to appeal to the taste buds of the McDonald's crowd who like to enjoy finer foods sometimes.
I’m making a version of this right now using fresh greek oregano, thyme and parsley from the garden. Im marinating the chicken before I put it in the oven. I’m also throwing in a bunch of cherry tomatoes, zucchini and green beans from the garden. The more the merrier.
My family & friends love, love, this recipe - they always request this one all the time. So I want to thank Dimetra once again for this dynamite recipe. 💕 Loved by all, even my Italian family!
I made this earlier this week and it was delicious and so easy to make. I only had an hour to let it sit in the marinade but it did not lack in flavor at all. My family loved it!
❤️ If you enjoy sweet potatoes you must add them to this recipe. I can’t get enough and my husband just raves of how the white potatoes turn out. It’s a win win for everyone! Can’t believe how delicious this is with the cumin. Game changer. Thank you Dimitra 🥰
I will always enjoy your cooking very much and always taste great as well. Just like Lebanese Cuisine, Iranian and many more as well just like I would always enjoy the Greek food whilst it's always indeed the best ever. I love your cooking Habibi XXX

I always say the simplest recipes are the best. Nicely done.

This & the kleftiko recipe are absolutely gorgeous, as my in laws said….restaurant quality .

This recipe has become a family favorite. It’s super easy. In fact, I make an extra pan for my neighbors whenever I make it. They love it, too!

Dimitra! You must have had wonderful childhood with your mom cooking so deliciously. Now I understand where your passion and inspirations derive from.
THE BEST!!
I made this recipe more than once...I love it ...plus I've shared it with friends who have also made it...this is delicious....
Looks yummy 😋, thanks 👋 for sharing beautiful cook. 👍🥰🙏🏼
I like the idea of giving the potatoes a ruff mash. Looks delicious and simple.
Made this for the family who are very picky eaters. They loved it! So delicious. Thank you, really enjoyed watching your video too.

I'm sharing it with all of my Pampered Chef friends. The word that comes to mind with the flavor is "deep" and I've never used that word to describe a flavor! Greetings from Australia Les Griffiths
I made this recipe and my husband loved it 😋 the chicken was super tasty ! Thank you for sharing your recipes 😊
My son is the pickiest eater!! He said, "that is the best chicken I've ever tasted"
He's 24.
I just found your channel, and I'm really excited to give your recipes a try!
I just began eating exclusively Mediterranean. I love everything about it. I am so happy I found you, and am making this and your white bean soup first! Onto a healthier way of eating!
I have tried this and its now the favorite dish every Sunday 😊

Just made this for lunch. I had already tried a couple of other lemony chicken with potatoes but this one was definetely a hit! Very very tasty! Went down nicely with lots of bread!
LOOKS YUMMY!!!!! Love learning about others countries foods!
I cook a lot of meditaranian, North African, and Middle East Food and I adjust the recipes to appeal to the taste buds of the McDonald's crowd who like to enjoy finer foods sometimes.
That sounds fantastic!! Going to pick up some fennel next time I'm grocery shopping :) Thank you for sharing!!
I love your recipes Dimitra. They are so simple and delicious. Thank you.
Must have made this beautiful dish over forty times. I think that says it all. And so simple as well! Thankyou.
I’m making a version of this right now using fresh greek oregano, thyme and parsley from the garden. Im marinating the chicken before I put it in the oven. I’m also throwing in a bunch of cherry tomatoes, zucchini and green beans from the garden. The more the merrier.

I made this earlier this week and it was delicious and so easy to make. I only had an hour to let it sit in the marinade but it did not lack in flavor at all. My family loved it!
Yummy!! I would add black olives to this too.
I'm going to make this for valentines day, I've just bought authentic ingredients ie:greek olive oil etc online, cannot wait
