This was easily one of the best tutorials i have ever seen on compositing. It was actually providing information in a way that was entertaining but more importantly, it was actually educational. Too many of these UA-cam videos that are aiming at promoting their sh*t to sell and don't care if you learn or not. You my friend felt like a university prof that actually wanted his students to learn something new.
This is the most in-depth guide about compositing ever! Especially about perspective; I usually just match them by eye. Didn’t know there was an accurate way to do it.
I love this GUY... i love and love and love this guy. Never disappointed and have learned what ill say costed me sooooooo much in editing school which i even didnt get it... wow...
This is hands down the best compositing tutorial I've ever seen! It's so hard to find detailed information about compositing, especially color correction and perspective. Thanks so much for the helpful tips. I'd love to see a step-by-step breakdown of how you composited the alien abduction scene, it would be awesome to understand how you applied the compositing concepts to all of the different elements and footage.
@@flo.motion I agree with @Step1. this tutorial taught me soo much, aswell as the zebra one that you explain how to level out the blacks and whites. Please add some more tutorials for compositing, they are amazing, so hard to find any good ones that are very well explained like yours. Would love to see more on how to integrate footage. Thanks soo much for these amazing tutorials!
Flo, I LOVE your style. You impart great knowledge but also make it entertaining. Thanks so much for your use of humor in your tutorials. Brilliant work!
This is literally the best after effects tutorial I have ever seen! I also discover these things on my own. But here you fast forwarded it for us! Thanks a bunch!
This is outstanding. I haven't used AE in 10 years but remembered the basics. This is perfect for someone that knows how AE works but needs help with pulling it together. This has answered all my questions.

Compositing miniatures? But yeah, 5 More Compositing Tricks ahahaha Make this a series!

Thanks so much Flo. You have no idea how helpful and motivating the info you give is. And the way you tell it is so original. One question... How did you make these little morphs in between jumpcuts ? They seem so smooth. 5:16
Good Lord! I was already writing a comment to say thank you for the tut and fantastic as always as the winner announcements came up. I hiccuped in surprise. Thank you so much!
@@flo.motion Greatest of all time! I never really understood what compositing consisted of.. I just always heard " composite the footage" and "make it blend" with no tangible instructions. So thank you again!!!
Some clarification. This is stuff I also learned online. I'm not a professional by any means. Perhaps some things were simply not explained well. By my knowledge, letterboxes are a solution to the mismatched aspect ratio. Letterboxes, don't make things physically correct. They are inherently a 2d solution to a 2d problem. It's the fit option compared that lets you have all of the image sacrificing it for eye space. The process you explained was the process of using an anamorphic lens. Letterboxes don't inherently come from the process of using anamorphic lenses. Anamorphic lenses let you capture a wider image on a camera. If it's too wide, it will be cropped. It's an if because there can be formats and screens that support the aspect ratio. Also, there can be different amounts of squeezing. It's a separate thing. There's nothing fake about what you did. Nothing is physically more accurate.
Hey! I think we both mean the same thing here! Different lenses create different aspect ratios. To compensate for that we sometimes see black borders at top and bottom and got used to that! So if you have a 16:9 video image and simply crop off top and bottom, even though your lense has full coverage, it still looks a bit more cinematic, as we are used to seeing this! Makes sense?
4:52 how could you tell you were shooting at the same perspective as the tiger footage? In the green screen shot, I can see one of the lines matched up with the box the tiger jumps on, but I don't see any straight lines being matched in the plate
Hey! I matched the vanishing lines on the box to the vanishing points on the table. Meaning I looked for the horizon line in both shots and aligned them! You can see the full video here: ua-cam.com/video/LhQsZTigU_s/v-deo.html
@@flo.motion Nice, I play the piano not the guitar. I get excited when I see video creators that also do music. lol maybe because I am trying to mix the 2.
