little tip: (before pre-composing the "Yannick Medium Shot"-s) 5:48 you can add a turbulent displacement and some bulge effects on the body to make the disintegration less linear and also a bit 3d following your body

First of all, I thought that you guys will also do something similar to other creators by doing some drama and then someone snapping someone into dust. But I loved how you started the video using the comments. That is creativity right there.
This could be used to make sandman falling apart effect too I think. Just use the gravity to make it come down, and smaller particles with sand texture, I think it would work.
This is really cool, but the shot of the hand and the main shot of Yannik's (am I spelling that right?) whole body have particles of the same size, even though the one of his hand is closer which should make the particles appear larger. still love the effect, its just a tiny nitpick.

this was an amazing tutorial, thank you very much. I'm gonna use the first part for an animation i'm doing right now and was using particles to start a viscous disintegration, but by the time i had to actually make all the character disappear i couldn't find a satisfactory way to do with particle world and masks. i was fighting hardly against get the trapcode fora matter of honor, but i hadn't see a good soluction to the effect without plugins UNTIL NOW. thank you very much for this video,
That was FANTASTIC. Now I have to justify a scene to use it in! (Kinda sick of movies that go out of their way to use effects they fell in love with,where the effect adds nothing but attention. Its outta place. I dont want to make a vid using effects I cant justify, but sure itching to find the perfect scenario to use THIS ONE in!!!!)
For Endgame like dust, you may change the direction of where the dust goes from just up to a diagonal up and right or left. Then add a wind audio for the complete effects.
Also, you can use multiple linear wipe. Like 1 linear wipe for the hand one for the body etc etx. Yes that would require working with multiple masking and layers but it's totally worth it if you really want as close to endgame as possible disintegration effect without using plugins.

Had to twitch the viscosity and strength a little different than you, but it worked in the end. I guess it depends on each footage.
Forget the disintegration effect...how did you get the UA-cam comments to pop up on the screen like that. THAT's what I want to see!
I think what they did is 3D track the scene, and attach several comment assets to the track.
