I worked in a warehouse for 10 year and characters like this would crop up now and again, i loved it, never knew what funny offensive shit they would come up with next 😂
Anyone who has watched the previous scenes building up to this, featuring that new receptionist who had replaced Dawn, will understand that this was a moment to savour.
I don't actually think he's rude in this scene. He does initially ask "Sorry?" and her self-entitlement is immediately apparent. He's also completely in the right.
I like that he was initially polite saying “sorry” because he didn’t hear her or understand the situation, but only became rude when she decided to act rude to him & that comeback was gold
her empty stare alone. she's someone that doesn't give a single fuck about the others. she just wants to get her opinion out. too funny tim is always the chosen one, but naturally so, since he is a genuinely nice and approachable guy. the burp at 0:47 is the icing on the cake. probably has bad breath, too. hahaha what a show
Out of all the episodes of The Office this is one of my favourite scenes... The Glyn character is absolutely spot on... An arrogant twat and a bit of a bully but can produce hilarious moments like this... We all know a Glyn!!
So much to love about this scene. Taffy putting whatever her name is firmly in her place; Lee and the others cracking up enjoying every second of it; Tim and Dawn speechless at the pair of them bickering. Brilliant, just love it.
Also, the Brent bit at the beginning: David, having hit rock bottom and seen his world fall apart, finally stops acting like a jerk, starts being honest and just being himself, and we begin to see things starting to work out for him at last.
I couldn't believe Taffy was actually an actor - thought they found someone in a factory with the talent to play himself.. David Schaals performance as well as all the others made The Office my favorite show
So so funny - she was so brilliantly written and acted she managed to be detestable in just a few moments on screen, hence the wonderful joy of the put-downs.

Deep down, we know he's a good guy. I'm sure just after she said that to David Tim spoke up and said that he would have a drink with him.. ending the awful silence. I guess she got her karma!

I can't remember the context, I'd have to watch the whole show again to get a better idea, but i think she was the lady that went round making a scene of herself all the time, very confrontational and not very nice, droning on to everyone and anyone about children/pregnancy whether they wanted to hear it or not, and he was a coarse rude abrasive offensive type, and it was just a case of having a laugh (this is a comedy not a drama) at the shock value awkwardness that happened when they collided.
To be fair she was totally obnoxious to him first. This came out when smoking was still common indoors in the UK. She could have just asked him to stop . If I was smoking somewhere where I was absolutely entitled to and someone behaved like that towards me I would act exactly like Jay's dad . Don't speak to me like a self-righteous slug. If the smoke is bothering you then ask like a normal human being and I would be happy to help. Never understood this scene.

Life on the Road puts Brent right back at the start again where he hasnt learnt anything so all Gervais has done is undermine his own poignancy here.
She seemed like an exceptionally nice person, so I bet they were in a relationship for a good 8-10 weeks and then she got to know what he could be like at times in terms of his needy arrogance and wanted to call it off but was too nice to, but eventually did, and it went a bit like his sacking.
The actress who plays the pregnant lady also plays Harry’s wife in In Bruges. I was hoping she’d tell the guy smoking the cigarette that the cigarette was damaging her baby, and he’d reply: “The cigarette’s an inanimate f***in’ object!” and she’d yell: “YOU’RE AN INANIMATE F***IN’ OBJECT!!” but it was not to be. Ah well. An opportunity missed.
If that had been me, I would have ran out pretending I was crying but in reality I was Crying Laughing. If this had been The US she would have gotten an Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Appearance in a TV Movie/Comedy/Special. She later played a Pill Addicted Teacher on Waterloo Road. I'm telling you The US has nothing on Teen School Dramas. They actually have "Kids" Of Color. They have some of the nastiest Characters but they are such brilliant actors. I'm sure she must have gotten a lot of "Shade" I public.

I thought the Xmas Special was a mixed bag. Brent on the blind dates was brilliant, but I found his return to the office and celebrity appearance scenes less convincing. It all came together at the end though, with the Xmas party, and what a fantastic last 5-10 minutes.
Actually on top of that, it’s about the white collar workers (co-workers) suffering her, but the blue collar worker (shop floor) comes in and says exactly what he likes 👍

2002 or 2003 I think but people were still smoking in workplaces from what I remember. Smoking room in Morrison’s had yellow walls.

The point is, she is insufferable and had it coming. It’s about her being put in her place.
Actually on top of that, it’s about the white collar workers (co-workers) suffering her, but the blue collar worker (shop floor) comes in and says exactly what he likes 👍
But that woman's horrible. If you watch the whole episode she's being set up for this put down. Tim hated her.
