I'm not a climber, never had an interest in it, but this movie is more than just about climbing and it could never be overstated. What an amazing trio these guys are.
The fact that Renan survived after his injury and his subsequent physical problems on Meru is amazing. When his body gave out, you could see Jimmy & Conrad’s concern about whether he would survive the night... luckily a day or so of rest and he was able to recover. But I can never forget that dazed, concerned look on their faces when things suddenly went sideways.
The film, Meru, is extraordinary. Their mental, physical, emotional and spiritual journeys, as well as deeply caring for one another-their collective humility-are a thought-provoking, heart-rendering study.
Therese Ember I agree 100% that’s part of the biggest takeaway I got from the movie too! Being part of a team, having that shared vision, mentor ships. I really love seeing how each one of them had to go through their own mental battle.
You 3 men are awesome inspirations- each of you, Masters of your sport! Thank you for documenting your stories!! Renan: I'm into my 3rd yr of TBI recovery (w/ skull fractures) as a mother, youth ice hockey coach (my love for my sport got me back on the ice w/in 2 months), athlete... I am in complete awe! Three bows to you all!
These guys are absolutely Legends I remember seeing the documentary of them making it to the summit of Mount meru the hole Journey before and after there's just amazing🤘‼️
Saw this on Netflix - sad but very inspirational. Conrad really is a special man -especially after losing his climbing partner and taking in his family. Jimmy will be a great climber and hopefully pay it forward like Conrad did.
santacruzer are you forgetting that renan straight smashed his head opened and recovered within 3 years fully and came back and finished meru while having a small stroke while climbing?
What Renan did was plain stupid, and reckless. Conrad was still fit enough to go back. Renan shouldn't have. You are congratulating him for potentially killing himself, and risking his teams well-being.
Loved the film so much I had to purchase it. Now I’ve seen it a few times, and it’s still as captivating as it was the first time I saw it. Awesome film 👍🏻👍🏻🇳🇴
I was always confused about Jimmy and Conrad's relationship with Renan. In the film, Renan makes comments that suggest they don't care about him, but Jimmy and Conrad don't touch on these comments from Renan so I was never sure how they felt about that.
Renan was the "new guy" in the team and just wanted to prove himself and it was new for Renan to climb with such intense, elite climbers. There's no doubt that they deeply care about him now. He also "proved himself" in spectacular fashion.
Also, it was Conrad that knew of Renon and said he needed to get Renon to climb with them because he could see how well Renon could climb a bare rock wall. That’s how they came together.
Wow! I was deeply immersed in this film. What I take from it is the experience of being mentored, 3 man group effort, trust, feeding off of each other’s energy. When I saw the interview (before I watched the movie) I kept studying Renon because his vibes seemed mysterious to me. I’ve already known Conrad and Jimmy thru films and documentaries so I knew their characters. I never knew much about Renon, it was fascinating to see him get back in shape and have this strong desire to go back to Meru to be part of the team was all that mattered. He bought his plane ticket without telling his wife. What I’d like to do now and s go back and research Mugs and other guy that Conrad mentored. All in all Great Film Meru.
Interesting, and good sympathetic interview. Yet there is always the sense that we don't know exactly why these guys do what they do, and they don't exactly know either ... though I suspect that amour propre might, in one or two cases, have something to do with it. Jimmy Chin is more of a question mark than the other two. I wonder whether he might not have been just as happy as a performing musician, or a film actor/movie star.

These guys are gods of the climbing community. Shark fin is insane.
Agree. I met conrad. In a very strange way. See my instagram post @manishduklan
Just saw the film. Mind Blown. 3 inspiring human beings. See this film even itf you don't give a shit about climbing.

Just watched the film. Loved it. Made me feel like I was actually there with them along in their journey, soaking in the magnificent surroundings.
Best climbing movie ever, without question.

What was the bag which Konrad dropped down the mountain?
Excuse my ignorance
The comments below say it all...... Fantastic feat, fantastic movie...
Jimmy is so attentive of renan.
And vice versa
Did Renan have a mini stroke up on Meru?
Blown away
It feels like he was just talking to Jimmy the whole time...

I love Renan,,,
It looks like Jimmy and Ranan took turns cutting Conrads hair!!!
3 bad dudes....I dare ya to say otherwise
+jens hathaway they are not bad! they are good, very good!
OTHERWISE
now what?
the host is breathing so heavily
yeahhhh didn't like that very much lmao.
its because of his fat neck
Fuck you, I didn't notice it until I read your comment. Now it bothers me..
I don't get it?
Not as fit as the 3 elite climbers in front of him perhaps?
GRREEEAAATTTT!!!!!
Renan doesn't look completely with it....
Probably because of the injurey
But he always is
Renan was hanging in there, holding on tight.
Someone get that interviewer a CPAP device or something. His breathing is nails-on-a-chalkboard annoying.
This guy doesn’t know how to interview ...
