    I’m an advanced practice maternal child nurse. I can tell you that it is miraculous how God made babies to survive and grow-the physiological interactions between a parent and the child when skin to skin is amazing! The first time I learned about the physiology of all the systems I was mind blown and sat there in the classroom, and praised God for his amazing provision-all right under our noses! When I put into my practice what I learned-to positively facilitate the normal interaction, I remained amazed and loved sharing with the parents the processes that were taking place. God is always good!

      I remember learning about families in university Sociology class who didn’t touch / cuddle their babies, only feeding and changing them. The impact to those little people was devastating. It is so wonderful that you’ve been able to spend time with the babies. I’m always amazed at those volunteer baby cuddlers too, so precious! What a rough, tough job that would be... ☺️💚

    When you said baby boy's name, this Bible verse came to mind...💙
    "But you are a chosen generation, a ROYAL priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light..." 1 Peter 2:9
    And for your baby girl...💖

    A trick I learned while I was pumping to reduce the amount of washing was to store my pump parts in a ziplock in the freezer between day pumps and also night pumps. Instead of washing 8 to 10 times a day I only needed to wash 3 or 4. Pumping is a full-time job all on its own on top of everything else you have to accomplish, Bri is doing AWESOME!!

    NICU always stressed to me “one step forward and two steps back” PLUS “you can never trust a premie.” My son was born prematurely due to ruptured placenta. His Apgar was 1 & 6. He was intubated but off within a few hours. The nurses were always cautioning us. Roller coaster is exactly what this journey is. Praying constantly for you to have peace while on the ride. 😊

    My twins born 20 years ago was 2 lbs 14 1/2 oz and 2 lbs 13 oz. Your twins looks really AWSOME!! My girl was more stable then my boy. He kept having breathing problems and getting sick. I made the NICU put them in the same area as close as they can get them. When they did that my boy got healthier. As much as you want to be at the NICU you have to remember that you too need rest to heal. They are so precious and growing great. Can't wait to see their trip home.

      @margelittleboy 3 роки тому +3

      Bri & Art have shown so many times the skill they have in the art of juggling, which shows God knew they would need that skill and afforded them the opportunity to become very good at it! It sure will continue to be useful as they deal with the NICU rollercoaster ride & the traveling home to the rest of the family. I pray they continue to have a good support group at home, that all the children continue to thrive through this most challenging time & that the Lord continues to grant traveling mercies as Art & Bri commute between home & the NICU. I also pray that God’s hand is on all of the staff in the NICU as they care for all of the babies they are entrusted with, in what is one of the most challenging (physically, emotionally & spiritually) environments to work in. (As a retired SICU/PICU & burn unit nurse I know the environment & absolutely loved the work, but it was & is by far more challenging than most areas in a hospital setting. (If you add Trauma/ER & the other ICU’s to the list you about have the bases covered.)

    Those are some beautiful names for the babies! Sending extra prayers 🙏✝ for Royal and his breathing. I am glad you got some one on one with each of the kids at home. It's hard at those ages for mommy to be gone for so long. I have a son who is now 21 and when he was little I had to have some outpatient medical procedures done that ended with complications and had to stay in the hospital for a week each time. He just would freak out because I was not there with him and daddy. Sending prayers for your whole family during this time of adjustment. 🙏✝ Thank you for sharing! Hugs and love to you and your family. ❤️✝🤗 Have a beautiful and blessed week. God Bless ❤️✝🤗

    I was in the hospital for nearly 3 months last year and nearly went out of my mind with the noise and sleep deprivation. Going back for a short stay this year with noise cancelling headphones was a game-changer. You are so good to find these now Bri so you can focus on you and your babes. You are doing amazing to balance it everything, in any shape or form.

    Women this dedicated to their kids are few and far between. I love how you love them. Waking up every couple of hours having to pump. Most women just don’t want to breastfeed with even healthy babies.. I’m the same way with my kids. I only ever breastfed my kids even though it’s hard and sometimes you wish you could just make a bottle so you can rest. Knowing that you’re doing everything possible to give them the best and healthiest life makes it worth it every time.
    I pray they grow strong, healthy and happy quickly so you can be home with the whole family again. 💕

    • @pocasanchez
      @pocasanchez 3 роки тому +11

      Agree! My second and I had thrush for 6 weeks, 7 bouts of mastitis and then she wouldn't ever nurse again so I ended up w no supply, taking endless herbs and prescriptions to keep it up and pumped every 2 hours, even through the night, for a solid year and when I hear perfectly healthy mothers say that breastfeeding just wasn't "for them" it just makes me so sad that they could put their own wants before the NEEDS of their babies. I didn't see the light of day or sleep for more than 90 mins at a time for an entire year and I'd still do it all over again to ensure my babies get the best start in life. I wish there was some other incentive to breastfeed bc a lot of women just don't think it's "worth it" when you can easily buy formula😔 that said, women having to work while having young babies is also a big part of the problem. Maternity leave needs to change, and so do the expectations for mothers having to do it all!

    • @MySGarden

      I have had 3 kids. Bf and bottle combo with the first, bottle fed the 2nd cause things were complicated and now bf the 3rd. All are happy and healthy. All had different needs and circumstances. No shame in a fed baby by any means. No guilt to any mother doing the best she can.

    • @pocasanchez
      @pocasanchez 3 роки тому +10

      Sure, but the point was that not everybody does do the best they can, and that is what's sad, not the fact that we have options in times of necessity. Obviously there isn't always a choice, but most of the time there is, and many just make the easier choice. There is a big difference between want and need, and nobody is shaming anyone's actual needs.

      @@pocasanchez I disagree. I believe most moms do the very best for their children and that the moms who don't are the fewer. Just my opinion of coarse. 😉

      In the US 84% of infants are breastfed at least to 6 months when the rate drops to 59%, so it’s not really accurate to say most women don’t breastfeed their babies. I know you want to acknowledge what a dedicated mom Bri is, and she surely is!, but you can do that without denigrating other moms. Bri is great without comparisons.

    NICU roller coaster is a real thing. All the emotions and ups and downs are a ride you will never forget. My son was not as early as your babies and we still had crazy ups and downs. The day we were not allowed into our NICU ward for a couple hours put everything in perspective for me. I was mad when they told me we had to wait and the ward was closed temporarily to all visitors. Then the nurse explained "another baby is trying to go to heaven". I shut up, sat down, counted my blessings, and prayed for that baby and their family. After that,even the bad days seemed less bad.
    You had me laughing when you told Art how good he looked lol. You guys are just awesome.

    The mention of NICU was a fearful place for our family. My nephew spent ten months in the stem cell transplant isolation unit at Duke. The nurses and Drs who serve in these areas are definitely chosen by God! God will be with you in all steps of this journey. Yes, please do things to comfort you and bring you ease of mind. Your mental health and needs are very important during your children's healing and growth.
