I grew up on the other side of Sharon Hill. Only about a mile from Leo's. I used to eat there all the time. I've known Leo and his brother Bill all my life. Leo started with a soft pretzel business while in HS. Sadly he and Billy died about 10 years apart. Leo, I think, in his thirties, Bill in his 40's. I haven't lived in PA in almost 40 years. I still think about Leo's. GOOD STUFF!!!!
I don’t think JL has truly got adjusted to his celebrity status!. I definitely understand though, but your officially in my opinion the best food reviewer on UA-cam. U put the local mom & pop spots in the light they deserve!...✊🏾🙏🏾💯
I grew up on Leo’s and grew up in Sharon Hill. Leo’s is THE BEST!! I now live in Virginia and when I travel back to my hometown, Leo’s is my first stop when I get there and my last stop, so I can bring some back to Virginia. They will pack the cheesesteaks for travel. Meaning they wrapped up the rolls separately and the cheesesteaks separately. Just put it together when you get home. Thank you for sharing our hometown treasure!!
That’s so dope how folks recognize you and show love like that!! And they go to places you’ve visited and done videos on before! Keep doing your thing bro!! 💯
So after seeing video I asked hubby to get me one from here......BEST CHEESESTEAK I EVER HAD.. Im from Philly so I know...The roll, the meat, the onions....Too big for one sitting and I got the small.... Appreciate this. I'm in Delco..never knew...
Yes...my part of town. Leo's has been a staple in Delaware County for years. They give you so much meat, you can make two and three sandwiches. Thanks for showcasing a local spot. Shout out to the lady in the video,Janice Davis. She's also a staple in Delco as Councilwoman and community activist. I love to see it. Keep up the good work💪🏾👏🏾.
I grew up in Sharon Hill! When you did the Top 5 I was mad Leo's didn't make the list. I feel like you should do Top 5 "Classic" and Top 5 "Specialty" ...because the beer pretzel looked good too.
Yayyyy!! You finally in my neck of the woods (DELAWARE COUNTY BABY!!!) I was wonder when u would get to Leo's!!! Their steaks and hogies are the best!!!
@@greenlawnfarm5827 What are you talking about?! Too much cheese?!!! maybe he ordered extra cheese. Plus the cheese is supposed to coat the meat once it melts. That's why its called a CHEESESTEAK, not a steak & cheese. Are you from Philly?
@@moniquewright9625 I like them better when they put the steak on the roll and don't cook the cheese on the grill with it so the steak doesn't get all coated in cheese.
I was lucky enough to have parents who grew up around the corner, been eating this since I was a baby... I still travel from near DC to come here regularly just to eat leos... anyone who has ever tried it that I brought it home to them wants one... I was just up there this weekend and I had to get 29 cheeseteaks and hoagies to travel for neighborsx and friends down near dc. (Yes you read that right... 29 mostly larges) Didnt realize how special it was until I was about 12 years old or so and realized I have never tasted anything better than this ...not just out of cheesesteaks and hoagies, but food period. The steak is marinated/seasoned in something I cant describe, kinda musky but in a good way?.. The meat is cut fine and is extremely high quality, very tender, very juicy, no fat chunks, no gristle... Just pure quality.. the white american sets it off along with the sweet peppers... Its just quite literally perfection. They have never changed in the 38 years ive been alive.. The amount of meat packed in is unbelievable for the price but even more so is that its the best thing ive ever tasted to boot... IMPORTANT,... the italian hoagie is equally as good as the cheesesteak... Absolute jam packed with once again seasoned and marinated deli meats, extremely razor thin slices, more absolute perfection. This place has been a hidden gem for a long time, im glad its finally getting the recognition it deserves. The owner Steve is also a great guy.
Your videos has been popping up on my Facebook and been hooked for months now sitting here in Vegas adding all these places to try out on my Yelp when we go back home to Philly to visit family. Thank you for all you do and keeping us in the loop with all these game changer places.
As a Darby Twp native I can attest this place is the BEST! Been going here since high school. Living in Dallas, Texas now, but Leo's is always my first stop from the airport.
Definitely rocking with you JL, cause you be putting us on to so many spots.... Thank you for your hardwork!!!! Now as for Leo's, went here the other day, completely trash!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not a fan of frozen shatter packed processed meat that's delivered in a brown box, thawed out and thrown on a grill.... I'm more of a fresh sliced beef type of guy, just has that real juicy beef taste and texture, but this crap is almost spongy like, with the flavor being reminiscent of like hot water in the meat, which basically means no flavor.... I watched them cook my steak from start to finish and didn't see not 1 single time was there any seasoning whatsoever placed on the steak, so I requested salt and pepper when they were done... bought it over my friends house to share, and they all swore it tasted just like the local corner stores, only difference was more meat... I do see a lot of people rock with this place though, which is a good thing for them, but as far as an honest opinion and personal preference is concerned, this joint was definitely at the bottom of the list along with so many other spots in the city!!!! Back to you, we love you, and respect your opinion, keep doing your thing and we will always support you!!!! One love my brother!!!! Also if you want to know some official cheesesteaks, let me know, I got you!!!
Thanks JL for finally getting out there to let your followers know that they make a good cheesesteak. I tried telling people but they don't want to listen to me, hopefully they listen to your opinion and get out to Leo's. I now live in Hawaii but Leo's and a place called Don's down in Boothwyn PA both taste the same because of the cheese they use. That Sharp American aka Cooper Sharp, really gives the cheesesteak a different taste.
I appreciate the rating on Leo's, they must have improved over the past 5 years or so because I wasn't impressed for a long time. Before all of the loyal Leo's fans jump on my back, let me validate my opinion: back in the day, Leo's was this itty bitty little sandwich shop jammed into an itty bitty space in the Sharon Hill trolley station - you look at that building now and can't imagine how they could operate out of a space so small! They were SO awesome! LOVED me some Leo's! So fast-fwd to them moving into their new place (in fact a lot of us were upset that they closed until they opened their new shop) - they're still packing on the meat, but then not long afterward, the quality of the sandwiches takes a nose-dive. Not horrible, don't get me wrong, but when that happened it wasn't worth the trip; I lived in Norwood and had my choice of places with sandwiches that would deliver - Leo's was no longer worth the drive because at the time they didn't deliver. Up until maybe 5 years ago, maybe 10 because I moved away, and I still didn't think they had regained their former awesomeness. Who remembers Leo's from all these years back? They were best when they were in the trolley station, am I right? If they've got their groove back, though, I'll give them another try. Packing a sandwich to overflowing doesn't guarantee a good sandwich, but he sure looked like he was enjoying that 👍
One of the things that makes them good is they mix the cheese into the meat while it's still on the grill. Most other places just stick cheese on top, then put the roll on top of that, so you end up with cheese stuck to bread and a bunch of plain meat inside. Cheese needs to coat every last morsel of meat.
I’m going to try there cheesesteak but there’s a couple good spots in the county til this day the best cheesesteak I ever had was from this place called Colonial in Lansdowne
Loved Leo's when I lived in Folcroft. Recipe for a great weekend of football... a large chicken steak with peppers & onions cooked in, sweets on top, mayo on the roll, and a couple Chocolate Juniors for dessert.

At $17 for a large I would hope it's as good as he says it is.
I’m sure he said the truth
That’s not a bad price maxes is 20$ for a giant
that large can feed an entire family
