The Mighty Tennessee was in more engagements than any other ship. She was dependable and was hit many times by everything thrown at her but she always kept on sailing and fighting. She had a crew that didn't know defeat. And she deserved better than to be scrapped when other ships that did less than her and that's every ship that became a museum. The Tennessee was the work horse of the Pacific Fleet.
At battle of midway. US Navy had radar and new where incoming were before the enemy knew what hit them.. also USN had ship to ship radar before the enemy did. At gaudacanal uss Washington and battleship X Aka South Dakota opened up 16 inch big guns at night ,against an unknowing enemy armada ready to fire upon our marines occupying air base their.. they never knew what hit em until the southern sky’s opened up with lightning and the thunder of eighteen 16 in guns. Ship captains knew then hell was on the way. The destroyer blew up in pieces on first salvo . God rest their souls the target was marked on a radar grid.. blow up each lighted grid. Box blow up that ship. Deadly for the victim ship. Deadly.
the tennessee's were beautiful ships. nice lines, fast and agile (for a battleship), just elegant.

Very true. The Tennessee was too slow for escort duty with the fleet carriers and was confined principally to shore bombardment. This was not 'light' duty, as she sustained hits from shore battery at Tinian and a murderous hit from a Kamikaze off Okinawa.

Funny, because these two ships actually did encounter each other at the Battle of Surigao Strait. Tennessee was probably the first American battleship to successfully land hits on the Yamashiro too. If this was at night, Yamashiro would stand almost no chance of successfully sinking Tennessee.
Very much so. If fact, both Tennessee, her sister California, and their near sister West Virginia were there and they had the most effective gunfire, being the most modern rebuilds (WeeVee landed the first hit on her first salvo). Somewhat ironically, there is evidence that the older Mississippi landed the salvo that actually sank Yamashiro, but she was ranging from shell splashes from the these three. Yamashiro did take a truly heroic beating in this engagement. Considering the low opinion the Japanese actually had of her, she performed much better than anyone could have expected--at least in terms of durability.

I see this video when i was young. still remember the videos name and still watching it. one of the oldest videos i remmeber and oldest channels i remember. this guy shape my creativity on shipbuilding. this is the reason why i love warships. now. im 14 years old. study hard as i could. found games that can make my tanks that I draw on papers in a 3d scale. same as ships. I highly thank the person who made this one.

A good example of why the U.S.Navy tried to avoid one on one battleship battles, unless they had no other choice. Either side having escort warship(s) could have changed the outcome. The weather, geographical location, even the tides, could have affected the outcome.
Actually, since the Tennessee sunk in the end anyway, it's a draw.

They weren't evenly matched Tennessee was much newer with much heavier armor and newer guns.

True the Nagato has similar armor and better guns but the Colorado against that really would be intriguing. Hopefully there are proper models for the Colorado and Nagato sometime.

It turns out there is an error in the credits. Bear McCreary - Admiral and Commander is the name of the music played from 6:12. Three years for that to be found.

a the tennesse had aperently 3 more guns under her secondary turrets and if you dont know what happened to yamashiro i beleve a 14" shell hit her boilers causing a fire first explosion then the secondary and primary gun ammo lit and blew the second explosion so with what would be the area around turret 3 missing and the 6" casements on fire she lost bouyoncy and sank tennesse idk
Tennessee didn't have extra guns and she was scrapped

Looks like IJN Yamashiro had bad hit to sea floor then Uss Tennessee did but the fact that ammo lockers in Tennessee are still blowing up.
Those explosions are the various bits and bobs on the ships (AA guns etc.) exploding. No idea why it does that.

the only thing i hate about warship mod is when you get hit on fire it floats way up in the air of the ship not on the part its been damaged...thats unrealistic.....and the other one is after a compartment is destroyed its instant death

Ships are not equal. These are Fuso type with 12 cannons of 356mm VS Montana (more modern) with 12 cannons of 403mm. Its obviuos that the latter would win.
No ships are ever designed equal. However, you seem to be mistaken in thinking this is Yamashiro vs Montana class. This is USS Tennessee, lead ship of it's class. It has 356mm guns as well

The 2nd Law The ships are mods. The battle was made with the so-called mission editor. I just created a quick mission where the ships fight each-other.

Eight US Navy battleships were sunk at Pearl Harbour, but only Arizona and Oklahoma were total losses. The others were repaired.

use some antialiasing. either via your video card software or 3rd party.
the old sh3 engine is not high enough resolution to be recording decent looking vids without AA enabled.
just FXAA x 4 does fine.
I don't even know how to activate AA on SH3. Not that it really matters much, my PC has never been able to run much of anything with AA active
if you have an nvidia card, just use the control panel, click on "manage 3d settings" and add SH3 to the "add a program" section.
then you can control directly what AA will be used.
make sure to use "override game settings" option.
if not, just google "3rd party antialiasing" and you will see a couple of popular options pop up.
if your machine is old, use FXAA and antialising setting 2 or 4x. shouldn't be too much of a framerate hit for this game.
set anisotropic filtering to 8 or 16.
good to go.

The game doesn't have a graphics menu, so I can't change it anyway
that's the point of using nvidia's control panel. it forces the game to use AA.

You forgot the damage control factor the Tennessee would have had Dc parties rushing about and would flood the opposite side ballast tank to counter the list

That model looked nowhere close to a West Virginia, when she was rebuilt she looked like a South Dakota

Sorry to snap, but I'm feeling rather crud at the moment.
After all Fuso nad Yamashiro in 1941 was already considered by IJN HQ too old for combat (because of far too low speed and weak main armament in compare to modern BBs) so she spent majority of the war (untill Leye Operation) in harbors.
Fact is that Fuso class was meant to be replaced by Kii class, however because of forced on Japan Washington Treaty neither Kii class nor Tosa class and Amagii class (planned as Kongou replacement) never saw the light of the day as full fleshed battleships... so no wonder that she lost to Tennessee at all.

The only IJN battleships worth were IJN Yamato and her sistership IJN Musashi and IJN Nagato and her sistership IJN Mutsu all the other battleships/cruisers from Japan side were outdated such as Yamashiro,Fuso,Ise,Hiei,Kirishima,Kongo,Haruna.

The only mods used in this video are the Tennessee and Yamashiro and the LibTex files that make them work. No GWX or playable warships mod or anything like that.
