We have a few members at our locations that work in hospitals and have had to use their BJJ to control a patient in a safe manner. We know it’s a hard job and thank you for taking an interest in training! Cheers!
Thanks so much Kavon! I LOVE helping people de-mystify the mechanics of BJJ as efficiently as possible and it always helps knowing you appreciate it! 😃
I love the Kimura throw from Kajukenbo. You get the grip, shuck them down (jump backwards while holding their arm at an angle where they have to come with you), jack the arm up their back and drop them on their head. I should mention for people who don't know, Kajukenbo is a lethal fighting style. The purpose of a Kimura throw is to permanently disable your opponent.
After boxing for so many years, this video just convinced me to do jiu jitsu and I love to compete so I’ll definitely will be doing that too after I learn enough

Thank you for that explanation. I had trouble taking a training partner down with that kimura grip. I didn't know how to stop them from following me. I am excited to try this again with the details you provided.
Agreed! Some of the old school moves still work really well. Glad you enjoyed the comedy! 🤣 We are already fighting no need to take ourselves too seriously at the same time. 😁🥋
I was messing around with my friend and I got him in a standing kimura, one thing you also can do is take the back and use the kimura for leverage. This causes them to fall and you can get side control from there.
With all due respect, to perform a standing Ude Garami aka arm entanglement or to BJJ fans the Kimura from that position it's easier to pry away the lower arm. Just standard Kinesiology, also known as human kinetics. Good video👍🥋.
@@AcesJiuJitsuClub Well, due to the pandemic, I've not been to group training in months (my Dad's side of the family have extremely vulnerable lungs, so we're all taking extra precautions - combine this with Alan being 72 and we know he'll die if we give it to him). HOWEVER, before lockdown, me and a few friends (George and Callum - stage name Keegan) had been working on a few matches that incorporate the Kimura in training. It's also worth noting that they both use several suplexes (Callum uses a T-Bone as a finisher), so this could be incorporated as a reversal for a German. But I'm still just a trainee who's only been in a couple of Battle Royals XD
FALSE... that would be the double wrist lock... this has no wrist or hand control... this is just going through the motions... sakuraba didnt use this... go watch him.
Thanks you for the excellent explanation and demonstration. You're delivery is excellent and well articulated. This video is not just a great example of a good technique but also a great example how to teach.
Hey professor quick question do you prefer that step back technique over a sit out? I was taught to shoot the leg closest through his leg essentially landing in half guard. Thank you for your time and this tutorial. Can't wait to try this tomorrow!!! OSS!!! 🤙❤️👊
@@AcesJiuJitsuClub Hey man I'm in Weatherford and I'm an old man with some injuries I'll never be a UFC fighter but do you have anything for old injured guys? Lol 🤣 I know you fight as hard as you practice but jujitsu has actually saved me because I watched a video never trained tho. I actually had a huge guy pin me down and try to beat me. And I saw an opportunity for the kamara and it worked 😬 I'm still alive !!!
Disclaimer (I do not do bjj or any martial art - so this is not at all a sarcastic question) but surely if someone was bear hugging you they wouldn't leave both of your arms free but would rather pin your arms slighly below the elbow, if they do pin both your arms whats your best option?
for sake of surviving i will try break the grip and turn face to face rather than try go for kimura just because the risk of giving the back in any sort of time is a big mistake. this is problem i have with judo as a system and for sure it's effective against untrained attacker but we try i think to expend to situation the other guy know to fight we can't leave this gap easy so i will go to break is grip turn around and try work on the position. the video is done great and i gave you a like i just don't think it's the right way to go .
That's a fair concern that you have...but in this situation - you already messed up and gave your back. And a skilled opponent will just turn with you if you so you may not always be able to turn and face them...that is the solution that this technique brings. Hope that helps!
While you can become a BJJ black belt in 5 years you will have to focus on a lot of different things. But one consistent theme you’ll notice with any reputable instructor or team is that helping you get control of the fight comes before a “submission”. You do that and your BJJ journey will be WAY more efficient and more likely to be successful! Cheers! 😁
If you lean back and the person decides to let you go, you will land on the ground. The wrong place to be in a fight, please make a video explaining this.
That’s a great question! Usually they have to change their level/height if they are taller than you, and then everything works pretty similar to what was outlined in the video! I hope that helps!
Very good . But don’t over estimate yourself saying you are not a professor. Unless you are not sure about using the English language in a correct way .
I actually AM a professor of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu - as well a 3rd degree BJJ Black belt awarded by Maestre Allen Mohler. He is the first American to earn a BJJ Black belt in the world renowned Team Alliance as well as a long list of his own accolades. So if he as well as so many others in our industry respect my position as professor…I’ll take it. 😉🥋🙏🏾
Incorrect… When creating tension on the elbow and shoulder, your opponent has to make a logic-based mechanical decision on losing the arm or position. Also, it’s not accurate to say something won’t work. The spectrum of probability, when training and fighting at a high level has more to do with what is probable. This move is probable based on the mechanics of forcing another person, regardless of quickness, while the primary joint is under tension. I hope that helps.
Ha! Communicating is an important part of teaching my dude...and so is listening. Perhaps improve the latter and you'll find more appreciation for the former. ;)
