    I literally watched this video 5 minutes before I left for class last night and was like, hmm, I could see myself implementing this (1.5 years of training blue belt). So I'm sparing with a team mate and I end up in bottom half guard. I locked up the Kimura Grip but want him to defend it so I tug on it just enough so he hides his arm. Then I "let" my opponent go to side control. Once my leg is free I bridge him over sweeping him. We ended up just like in the video and I was there to finish the submission but time expired. For someone like me I feel like I know a little about a lot and am slowly adding options to positions. Now in bottom half guard I have another "go to." Thank you for another awesome video.

      @@KnightJiuJitsu Professor would this also work if the top player uses the Kimura defense where he grabs his own wrist and pulls up getting the kimura on the bottom player? Thanks in advance.

      @@concernedcitizen5971 - Theoretically, yes. That's the short answer. Everything can work, and can be countered and counter-countered. The Kimura trap is versatile and effective, but if there is flawed technical execution or timing, the counter will always be available.

    I like the back take from this position. The key for me was pushing their wrist into their hip. It helps me with a little more resistance to get the proper rotation. It’s so funny when I hit it just right. The look of shock and awe is funny.

    Nice saddle entry. Nice little detail for the roll is punch it to the belly but once they start stepping around your head you'll have better luck finishing the roll if you punch it between their legs

    • @KnightJiuJitsu
      @KnightJiuJitsu  Рік тому

      It can…but it’s also easier to counter for the top person because the bottom leg can act as an anchor point for him to stop the transitions, reversals and sweeps.

    What if he doesn't try to pass to side control and your leg is stuck in half guard? Would you just try to hip-bump sweep?

    • @KnightJiuJitsu
      @KnightJiuJitsu  Рік тому

      Not exactly hip bump sweep, but kind of. Bridging into the person will often create the necessary space to free the leg enough to complete the transition / reversal.
