Before the Bantus overpopulated what became Namibia beginning in the 15th century, the Bushmen (San, etc.) ate large amounts of leaves, nuts, berries, and termite larvae. They also had cattle before the European colonization, so they sometimes enjoyed beef and milk. The Bantus ate similarly, but their systems were not as tolerant of dairy products. The Bantu-types ate (and still eat) much more meat, such as insects, all the primates they came into contact with, and melons. The Bantu are now about 90% of the population of Namibia, so there is more bushmeat eaten than when the bushmen dominated, and less dairy than there might otherwise be.
