Great use of the channel and your outreach you've accumulated over the years. Props for digging in on this one. The creator of the kit seemed like a real chill humble guy👍
If people are really bothered about credits or licensing, then why are you guys not angry about CarX "stealing" the LBWK kit and many other big name bodykit, or further, putting cars in the game without contacting and receiving permission from its manufacturer, the double standard here is real.
yeah ngl i kinda agree. like at what point do you draw the line where the maker of a kit is "big enough" that we're collectively okay with it being copied without permission? we all want to see basically real cars and kits in our games, and we would probably get mad if a manufacturer sued someone because of having an unlicensed copy of it. ideally yes they would give him credit, especially now knowing that he's fine with it being in the game as long as he is credited and isn't asking for some exorbitant amount of money, but i don't totally blame carx for just following the same procedure they would for any larger company.

Carx doesnt need to ask the creator, nor is it stealling the mod , because the mod was nvr copyrighted , if it was copyrighted i would see the issue but there is none
i hope CarX adds the ability in future games to allow us to sculpt bodykits ourselves, similar to how older NFS games like Pro Street, Carbon, etc. This could allow us so much more variety to in game kits and allow us to make them even more unique, than just mixing parts from different bodykits.
As a 3D artist, this situation deeply saddens me. I invest considerable time working for free to build contacts, develop my portfolio, and establish a reputation within the industry. Despite being early in my career, I’ve already noticed that many people are reluctant to pay fair value for work, often unaware of the effort involved. It’s demotivating to see that even when I produce high-quality work comparable to artists like Cyro, larger studios engage in practices like stealing.
Hate to say it since I know how it feels to make art and that joy you get from sharing it. However artists have to keep a majority of their art pieces under wraps, especially with stolen art the advent AI art sites, and of course the finance/legal bros who like gutting creatives. So, now we are force to use watermarks, cropped images, and limited snippets of each piece.
I suggest that Cyro get a lawyer to read over the contract before signing ANYTHING as they could have hidden ways to rip him off. Keeping in mind I have no true knowledge of the law, just what I can put together from what I see and hear, however, this is probably the best thing for him to do.
I mean almost every single car in the game is literally 1 to 1 cars that they are not licensed to be in the game... They're just debadged. Are we really surprised they stole bodykits. I've seen plenty of bodykits already without licensing. This is one is no different even if it's from just one guy. Doesnt matter if they made the model from scratch or not. They do not own it.
I don't know, working with people and ask permission is not that hard, than stealing art and then having reputation Impacts... But they choose the wrong way, greed is always costs more than kind
I’m not saying CarX shouldn’t have mimicked his model… but legally they’re allowed to do whatever they want, as long as their is a 30% difference, which there is more than a 30% difference.
Cyro seems like a nice individual because if I were in his position, my initial email wouldn't focus on demanding compensation but rather on initiating legal action
he won't get a cent his model does not have a patent, he does not have a logo or any brand for anyone to do anything the model in karyks is made in the image of its body kit, but no more Why then don’t car manufacturers sue carx, GTA and other companies? xdd

"Stealing" would be taking that EXACT model from artstation and putting it in the game, but that's not what they did. They COPIED it, and created this copy themselves. Same as literally everything else in the game.

oof creating that contract is a legal mine field. I doubt he asked ferrari for permission, meaning he probably doesn't have permission to profit from the work. There'd probably have to get approval from ferrari first, then pay for work done.... but ferrari is notorious for not being an easy company to deal with

I don't think it is nitpicking, Cyro was the first person that reached out publicly about this issue, who knows maybe other artists reached out in the past and didn't hear anything back from carx
It's interesting that people don't mind CarX clearly not licensing the cars they use in their games but, those same people expect CarX to not use someone else's body kit designs.
That's crazy. As a 2d & 3d artist, I can see the frustration. I can also see the reason why Cyro decided not to take it out of the game, but even still, I would've straight up sued them. It is never nice to see something you spent hours visualising and creating put in a medium so carelessly without permission. And the fact that they likely could've stolen more is just... makes me wanna quit the game honestly.
if it's not directly his model they got from him, not under a licence or a registered brand of any sort but just based on his render shot, legally speaking Cyro doesn't own anything copied by car x, although yes that suck, if it was an availlable model under a licence it would be a totally different issue
@@SebCroteau I hate the fact that this is true... Then this makes the whole CarX Series an incredibly scummy setup. What with the fact that they never listen to fans, have a whole list of negatively reviewed DLCs, updates take ages... I'm not gonna say more, I'm just gonna quit.
And what exactly is crazy about this? It's the same with the cars themselves, CarX doesn't have license for the cars (for the brand) but they can still put them in the game without the correct names and badges and everybody is okay with that, but when it comes to bodykits (and pretty much anything from small time creators), everybody is yelling HEY THATS STEALING YOU SCUMBAGS. Make up your mind and don't be hypocrites. Same rules & laws apply to everybody. And just to clarify, I do 2d & 3d art as a hobby too, even made few car bodykits. It's just they way it is. Sure, they could have took just inspiration and made their kit based on this one, but they chose not to and it is perfectly legal... EDIT: If they downloaded his 3D model and used that, then sure, that would be stealing, but they recreated it themselves. They still had to do the work.
@@krupy100 I get what you're saying, everything they do aligns with the laws, particularly copyright laws, put in place. But they do it in the scummiest way. Yeah, they may steal for example the Nissan GTR. But that brand and make is already popular enough for us to know what it is and where it is from, so if they slap a different name and brand on it, people, like me, would be less likely to complain. But, and I hate to say it, these body kit artists aren't popular enough to the point that everyone can immediately recognise where it's from. That's mostly why I dislike this. And with the fact that they could have copied more, I wouldn't want to play a game that I first thought most of, if not, some of the ideas were thought up by that company themselves just to find out later that it was someone else's idea and that they didn't get any form of consent or recognition.
It's not the same model of the car. It differs. They still basically stole the idea, but they didn't steal the original model. They can still say they were "inspired" and no one couldn't do anything about it. And I mean... if we're gonna be petty here, then EVERY indie racing game basically steals car designs! I mean... how many people basically sell unlicensed models or real cars really? I mean if you just post something like this on the internet, then don't be surprised when someone rips it off!
@@TimeMasterOG I kinda disagree here - even though some GTA V cars aren't even trying to look differently, most of the other cars and all of the original cars in the story mode aren't just copies. Yes, they share some similarities with real cars and brands, but they're still distinctive enough to be taken as a more of an immitation or parody than a blatant copy of the real thing.
so its news when they “steal” this guys body kit. MY BROTHER IN CHRIST ALL THE BODY KITS ARE RIPPED. origin labo, rocket bunny, liberty walk, dmax, uras, other artist renderings. all of the cars wheels and body kits are technically all ripped. just bc this guys making a fuss about it bc he wants his name put in the game. i dont play carx anymore and i think the game is going downhill but this is kinda dumb
The thing is: Bigger companies doesn't have the time to go after a game like CarX, so they don't even know that their kits ar being used. And even if they know, they just don't have time for that matter. But stealing from an independent artist, is something else. It's foul play, and I have the right to do "a fuzz" about it.

Hi Goose - think about ripping (stealing) off the whole design of a car, rename it, cut off the badges, do it again and again. and that's how lots of game companies get away with this. so why should carx pay respect or money to bodykit builders? are they really paying for any license to show us real-fake cars?
"They thought we were small enough creators for nobody to notice". Meanwhile CarX running literally stolen car designs and bodykits since inception. Or did anyone find RTR and Rocket Bunny in the credits?
If Ferrari themselves see these Ferrari-like models in the game, won’t they actually sue the devs? As far as I know, Ferrari is one of the most strict companies when it comes to copyright laws. Even with the F40 in the game having a different name or no license, there still might be a chance considering there was a case years back when the Pixel car racing devs had to take off their porsche models (despite having no name and no license) because of some legal action from porsche.
It an Intimidation tactic that these car companies do when it come to these type of copyright law. They are betting on you not challenging their BS claims because they know how resource heavy it is to fight this in court. So it understandable why the dev on Pixel car racing comply. Whereas them trying this against Rockstar and completely losing all there bogus claims due to rockstar having endless resources.
I just do not agree here. CarX did not steal a model or anything, its more of an inspiration imo. They took a lot of stuff, but mixed it with their own touches... like the side mirrors, the side light on the fender, there is no 'nostril' on the carx version, headlights are different, diffuser slightly different, carx hood has a kind of air intake or something which is not in Cyro's. This is legit stupid.....I didnt expect a video like this
"In my case, I took them from a 65 Mustang" Ahh ok so He's allowed to take someone else's ideas but CarX isn't? Whether I agree with what CarX has done or hasn't done is irrelevant. You can't steal someone else's ideas and then cry when it happens to you. To anyone who says it's just tail lights, either it's all ok or none of it is. I guess it's just a popular thing to hate on CarX atm? Then those people talking shit on it will go play it..
Well no, it's the creators creative property. It's like making a song with remixed vocal samples and someone is then taking your song and putting it in their game as a soundtrack. Copyright is not that simple, the song is still a newly made creation. So is the wide body kit. There is a difference between "sampling" and stealing. :)
To be honest, as soon as they used a different hood and headlights its a whole different body kit. And you don't have a patent or license locking your kit to you I'm assuming so it's up for anybody to recreate. Yes it was in bad nature to use 99% of the kit without giving any credit whatsoever but I mean they made their own body kit when they changed it up just took inspiration from your kit. Games know what they're doing this wouldn't of held up in court and they were extremely nice to him in his response. It's like if I went to auto zone and got a hood scoop and put it on my Mazda miata I can't force nobody else not to use the same hood scoop from auto zone for their miata 😂
So? They rip manufacturers cars and bodykit manufacturers and change just enough for copyright freedom. Everyone is fine Same thing happens with a 3d design. Everyone loses their mind 🙄

After watching the whole video. I really respect the creator of the kits and all his explanation make sense that even IF he sues CarX he would definitely won. Though I really wish someone who got their bodykit stolen would just SUEs CarX

Goose , you are the one who never scared to uncover anything on any game , even to blame them . Our huge respects to you and wish you more strength to uncover more !
This is cringe and BS. CarX did nothing that "IS NOT LEGAL!", one of their artists just used Cyro's work as reference and/or blueprint. (work that wasn't copyrighted or anything as far as i'm aware). And it's not even a 1:1 copy, there is a lot of differences. it's a bit sad for Cyro that CarX did not acknowledge his work, but thats it, there is nothing more to it. They did not "Steal game assets", the original work isn't even game assets in the first place, and they didn't stole anything.
This hapends also with some servers in FiveM like BlackOut RP in italy where they take other people mods and make people pay hundreds of euros just for putting it into the server without any authorization from the author and avoiding the policy of CFX reguarding real life models forbidden in FiveM.
i just started the video and i dont really think them having a very similar/almost identical bodykit to someone else is a problem, they copy the cars and dont pay for it, they probably didnt pay for any of the wheels and there is probably other bodykits that look like ones made from other people/brands and all the time no one had a problem with it
man its such a shame, carx was my favorite drift game when i used to play on mobile, seeing them do something like this and how the carx team been doing this past few years is just disappointing
This isn’t plagiarism or wrong in my opinion because they didn’t download his car. They copied their own way heavily inspired with slight changes props to the guy who designed it and the original creator obviously 🙄
I feel like this is a yes or no topic. We all know CarX doesn’t do branding or licensing and yes that is ‘stealing’ in some way. But on the other hand that’s what allows them to put so many cars and customizations in the game and if they would do licensing we wouldn’t have even half of what we do now so it’s a give and take.. you give them the right to use the cars and customizations in order so we can have them in the game because otherwise we wouldn’t..
CarX and many games including Grand Theft Auto copy cars that they don't own rights or bought the license to, they change the names and don't use logos and stuff yet people never seem to complain about that. When CarX copies a body kit and its not even a 100% copy people get up in arms though CarX even before the Ferrari already had body kits implemented from Liberty Walk, Rocket Bunny, etc. This is nothing new. If one person wants their designs to have even a little bit of protection then they need to file for copyright/patent paperwork.
its not the same tho , little tweaks make it not the same, carx is bolt on and cyro is molded , honestly it doesnt look the same at all he just looking for a check
The F40 Bodykit is an Artpiece. The creator Cyro did not sell or monetize this artpiece afaik. He is allowed to use the F40 as a base and even the rear lights of the Mustang under fair use, as long as he doesn't make profit with that artpiece. When a company like the CarX developers then use this artpiece in their game, which does cost money for the cosumer to buy, thats where the problem lies. They profited of that artpiece what they copied. That is at minimum shady, but a copyright infringement at best.
So, from what I'm gathering, since the original model isn't shared, that someone at CarX used the models images to recreate a like 95% accurate copy of the bodykit with some VERY minor changes, without contacting the original models creator.. I'm just curious if the original model creator has it licensable, if so they could REALLY rake CarX over the coals, I mean they already can cause it's someones intelectual property, but if it's something that's taged with something like [Licensable] that just slaps a whole lot of other legal stuff onto it that the original author could bring down on CarX.
Artists who upload their work to ArtStation typically retain the copyright to their creations. This means that you generally cannot use or reproduce their images without permission.
@@Goosiest Ah okay, I never use ArtStation or look at it. Glad they protect their community of artists though. And with that being said, CarX would be smart to remove the car from their game. OR at least that bodykit and make one of their own.

Or just understand the world we live in and don't publish to internet art galleries without getting paid for it. Smh.
Great use of the channel and your outreach you've accumulated over the years. Props for digging in on this one. The creator of the kit seemed like a real chill humble guy👍
Much appreciated!
If people are really bothered about credits or licensing, then why are you guys not angry about CarX "stealing" the LBWK kit and many other big name bodykit, or further, putting cars in the game without contacting and receiving permission from its manufacturer, the double standard here is real.
They never reached out, I'm sure they don't even know that their stuff is in the game
yeah ngl i kinda agree. like at what point do you draw the line where the maker of a kit is "big enough" that we're collectively okay with it being copied without permission? we all want to see basically real cars and kits in our games, and we would probably get mad if a manufacturer sued someone because of having an unlicensed copy of it. ideally yes they would give him credit, especially now knowing that he's fine with it being in the game as long as he is credited and isn't asking for some exorbitant amount of money, but i don't totally blame carx for just following the same procedure they would for any larger company.

i hope CarX adds the ability in future games to allow us to sculpt bodykits ourselves, similar to how older NFS games like Pro Street, Carbon, etc.
Like how Cyro used a vehicle he wasn’t given permission to use? Something tells me Ferrari could own him and whatever he owns with a quick suit…
@@deaf2819 It does not have Ferrari branding there's nothing Ferrari can do.
Great art, Cyro Miguel.

Your comment is the only one that is reasonable, thank u!
I don't know, working with people and ask permission is not that hard, than stealing art and then having reputation Impacts... But they choose the wrong way, greed is always costs more than kind
i actually give up on expecting an actual update from the updates
I’m not saying CarX shouldn’t have mimicked his model… but legally they’re allowed to do whatever they want, as long as their is a 30% difference, which there is more than a 30% difference.
CarX drift admitted to stealing cyro’s model
they literally admitted to it in the email
Cyro seems like a nice individual because if I were in his position, my initial email wouldn't focus on demanding compensation but rather on initiating legal action
So who gets the compensation for him stealing the Mustangs tail lights?
he won't get a cent
his model does not have a patent, he does not have a logo or any brand for anyone to do anything
the model in karyks is made in the image of its body kit, but no more
Why then don’t car manufacturers sue carx, GTA and other companies? xdd

No need to check. They're all stolen. I don't think they have designers in their team. Only modelers, whos job is to replicate existing designs.
Think the hood and lights are different in CarX because you can change those individually.
Also they took Carbonerre kit (Patron GT, slide performance kit ingame) without any contact with guy that make this bodykit
It's not ripping, he also said as Striped taillights from Mustang 65 so he's also ripper ? LOL
they made their own model, not just took his model and added into the game. It's not ripping (you can say copy as well, LOL the dude made model 7years ago he also copied from someone)
Yup, or just using Ferrari’s car, wonder if he got permission…
Knowing some internals of software development in Russia I could say that probably product owner (project manager) didn't know that they used some pictures from the internet, rather than designer decided to play a low ball and copy it but didn't tell anyone lol :))))
@goosiest, stop hating on a game, there is a game called "tuning club" who steals assets from CarX... Its a dog eat dog world out there... Stop crying and start drifting, as a normal dude, not with your head in the sky high 🍀
it is actually legal to make something based off something, most obvious, glaring, example the Racing Point RP20, also, that's how emulators get reverse engineered, that why there's so many minecraft ripoffs etc, it's sad but perfectly legal
oof creating that contract is a legal mine field. I doubt he asked ferrari for permission, meaning he probably doesn't have permission to profit from the work. There'd probably have to get approval from ferrari first, then pay for work done.... but ferrari is notorious for not being an easy company to deal with
boom. My thoughts exactly. What would Ferrari say to the cry baby with too much time on his hands? Hmm
In my opinion I would not be mad if my model got copyed in a game with a lot of players I would actually be proud they even notice it
So all of your work does not make you money
sounds like nitpicking to me. There are only so many body kits to chose from and they did change enough where is wasnt a direct copy more inspired by. plus this project was 7 years old. you guys are trying to shut down a great game with youtube slander. shame shame goosiest. just enjoy the game
Need to talk about these things. They also ignore the hacking issue, all the proof was sent to them, they're doing nothing.
Exactly this is what has me confused
And with the fact that they could have copied more, I wouldn't want to play a game that I first thought most of, if not, some of the ideas were thought up by that company themselves just to find out later that it was someone else's idea and that they didn't get any form of consent or recognition.
womp womp
That f40 in the thumbnail almost brought me back to the game.
carx couldn’t get worse
It's not the same model of the car. It differs. They still basically stole the idea, but they didn't steal the original model. They can still say they were "inspired" and no one couldn't do anything about it. And I mean... if we're gonna be petty here, then EVERY indie racing game basically steals car designs! I mean... how many people basically sell unlicensed models or real cars really? I mean if you just post something like this on the internet, then don't be surprised when someone rips it off!
I mean one of the top selling games does it. GTA 5. nobody is complaining there but they do here.

Hi Goose - think about ripping (stealing) off the whole design of a car, rename it, cut off the badges, do it again and again. and that's how lots of game companies get away with this. so why should carx pay respect or money to bodykit builders? are they really paying for any license to show us real-fake cars?
They are not stolen assets but a copy of the original assets and also not 100% the same thus they can not get sued
As a doctor, should I ask the creator before carrying out any procedure if I can apply their techniques?
sending an email before doing CPR seems funny
He never released it for download, so CarX honored him by adding it to the game. What’s the issue?

Rocket Bunny as far as I understand is fine with anyone using their kits in any game
Yeah, they already took down beamng Ferrari mods so I'm guessing the reason they haven't is because beam is bigger then carx

I couldn't have said it better
I love how he is drifting the car with the bodykit while talking to him 🤣
I want my 30$ refund immediately
Everyone is fine
