      Full weight and manual. Supra’s are tricky things to get the power down efficiently in. We’re only planning to run around 26-27psi when it goes out, so I don’t expect we’re likely to get too deep into the tens, but we will try :P

      That they are. The only factory drawback stopping them from hitting 11’s is fuel. With a maxed out fuel system we reached 450hp at the hubs.

    One thing I have never quite understood is people saying the "more ignition timing" on e85 resultis in "more power". As far as I was aware e85 REQUIRED more timing advance because it was slower burning, not because it was possible to without detonation occurring. With an e85 and ron98 tune isn't the combustion still happening at the same time in the cylinder position roughly? Have I got the wrong end of the stick here o.O

    • @Frietpan
      @Frietpan 5 років тому

      i think thats cause of the extra fuel compared to 98, e85 uses way more fuel so i think combustion has to happen later simply cause it takes longer to fill up the chamber.

    • @lockjawjak
      @lockjawjak 5 років тому +1

      @@Frietpan I know why it combusts slower and requires more ignition advance to make peak power but it always confuses me when people say something like "I went e85 and got a nice power bump from the extra ignition timing" when e85 simply seems to require more advance to get combustion at the same time as ron98. Seems a little odd to me that is all

    • @StreetFXofficial
      @StreetFXofficial  5 років тому +4

      E85 is slower burning (higher octane), meaning you can advance the timing to ensure the biggest “bang” without worrying so much about pre-detonation.
      98 fuel will typically ignite before you get the timing to the ideal point to create the biggest “bang” to force the piston down harder on the downstroke.
      E85 also runs cooler which helps keep temperatures down.
      E85 has a lower energy density though, so while it can make more power for the previously mentioned reasons, it takes more fuel to make the same power as 98 pump.

    • @lockjawjak
      @lockjawjak 5 років тому

      @@StreetFXofficial Ah ok, so it is the more consistent and cooler burn of e85 that does allow you to get earlier combustion and more power. I did not understand the limits of ron fuel combustion enough I guess. Cheers for the info

    • @StreetFXofficial
      @StreetFXofficial  5 років тому +1

      @@lockjawjak It's mostly due to the fact it is harder to ignite, and less prone to pre-detonation that means you can dial in a more aggressive timing curve that yields the increased power.

      I think you’d find the 2j to have a more proven track record to make power reliably without internal modifications. It is unfortunate for tuners now though, how expensive the 2j has started to become. That will happen though when things become harder to find.

      Says the guy that comes in a supra video and babbles about n54's to try to feed his own ego. As an owner of both cars will say n54's arent even close to these engines. Yes the blocks can withstand similar power if lucky (again I say if lucky) but arent near as reliable or solid of motors. I spent almost $10,000 just trying to keep my 500 whp n54 running. Versus running and gunning any of my Supra engines 7m,1jz, or 2jz with no issues making 6-800hp on stock bottom ends with no issues just normal maintenance. N54 always had vanos issues, water pump failures , manifold issues list goes on. Unless the n54 got more reliable as to the likes of the n55/s55 it wouldn't stand a chance at holding 800 hp for more than a few pulls on stock block. And he'll n55 can't even make 600 hp on stock block so yea man. Yes it's older tech but there's a reason the 2j is the inline 6 king . Barra comes in close 2nd and n54 might tie 3rd with the rb26 :p

      ahah that's part of why I have gotten into the (bad) habit of referring to everything as whp. Plus of course it sounds better ;)
      At the end of the day though, most people should understand that every dyno, whether roller, hub or engine, will yield different results, and they should only be honestly compared to results on the same dyno at the same shop.
