This is, in my opinion, the very best original composition of the 1980s. Songs from the big chair is an utter masterpiece. And again, probably one of the best albums of the 1980s from start to finish. Thank you for reacting to this. It made my night!
'Shout' was pretty big. Def a TFF classic. Head over Heels is super 80s, very catchy (to me), and is one of my favs. if you ever watched Donnie Darko, you might remember it from that. I pretty much love every song on their first two albums, except The Prisoner from their first album The Hurting. It's an experimental, out of place track, imo, which is pretty awful, again imo. If you dig TFF you might want to check out Naked Eyes, the studio duo that got popular by making their version of Dionne Warwick's demo recording "(There's) Always Something There to Remind Me" originally written by Burt Bacharach, if I remember correctly. Little history, Curt Smith and Roland Orzabal from TFF (both singers BTW, Roland sang this song) were previously in a band called Neon with Pete Byrne and Rob Fisher from Naked Eyes.
Tears for Fears' Songs From the Big Chair is a really good album, and your next reaction from it should be "Shout". Trust me, I think it's the album's best track.
Kind of a deep cut but fabulous song. There are no bad songs on this album, though. I suggest if you're going to do "Head over Heels" then pair it with "Broken" and use the album version so you get the Broken-Head over Heels-Broken sandwich.
You should check out Mother's Talk, Woman In Chains, and Listen for TFF. So good. If you're not a fan already, you will be after listening to those 3. TFF was my first concert many years ago.
omg i could not hit play fast enough lol. this and "everybody wants to rule the world" are my most favourite songs from this album. "shout" and "head over heels" get more acclaim but "the working hour" touches deep down in my soul, it is truly moving ❤
You have to do Bad Man’s Song, it’ll blow your mind. Also Woman In Chains is probably the best produce song ever, in one of the best produced album ever called The Seeds Of Love.
Songs From The Big Chair is a fabulous album from start to finish, it includes the massive hit singles, Shout, Everybody Wants To Rule The World and Head Over Heels, but the album is much more than the hit singles, and it shows that Tears For Fears are much more than a singles band, but in my opinion, it isn't their best album, that accolade goes to the album that follows Big Chair, the totally majestic Seeds Of Love. Seeds only contains 8 tracks but each one is an absolute belter, check out Badman's Song, the band go to church on that one.
Thanks for the list! Just watched one of your videos and really enjoyed, sir, great job! I know it says just rap and hip hop, but ever thought about listening to modern metal and rock as well?
Thanks, Shawn! I enjoy your channel a lot. You're a very personable guy. If you ever have a question about 80's New Wave, hit me up. It's my forte. As for reacting to modern metal and rock, that's a possibility in the future but it feels like I've hardly put a dent in golden-age hip hop. And I've recently started reacting to some new artists that sound old-school, so a whole new avenue has opened up. Thanks for your kind comments and I sincerely wish you continued success with your channel. -Brian
Shout is their biggest song, but Woman in Chains is the most jaw dropping. It is considered by many as the best mixed song in rock; a definite must hear. Tears For Fears have the type of production values that rivals Steely Dan, the ultimate compliment.. Other definite to check out: Raoul and the Kings of Spain, Elemental, Mr. Pessimist, Head Over Heels, Break It Down Again, The Turning Point and Goodnight Song. They are an amazing band, and still recording!
@@ohfour-seven6228 yup all those songs you mentioned are the ones I've listened to the most lately especially Raoul And The kings of Spain and Break It Down Again and Mr Pessimist!!!
Not one of my favorite songs by them, but a great reaction! You need to hear "Shout" sometime (the full-length album version, not the video, IMO). "Head Over Heels" is another great one.
@@kevinl2578 If you say so. "Shout" is one of my favorite songs of the 80's. Almost no song was more fun at school dances and summer camp dances when I was a teenager. I'm sure you are a bigger TFF fan than I am...I love many of their songs, but I don't consider them one of my very favorite bands.
Learning to play or compose music changes the way you listen. That is not to say that you have to be trained to appreciate music or even critique it. I sometimes wish I could listen without that part of my brain analyzing and picking apart the structure of a song. But in this case, that same part of my brain is what brings my enjoyment of the song into focus most intensely. The build - almost like the song is divided into literary chapters. The point/counterpoint; the call and response and interweaving of themes is awesome. The transition from the fugue-like post vocal section (with the sax absolutely on a tear) to that final almost tranquil repeated refrain of the saxophone makes me think of a ship cresting the last wave of a storm and sailing peacefully away on that warm, final bass note. This is a rare if not unique piece of popular music.
Of course you do because you don't understand music, such a weird comment go listen to Shout and head over heels and everybody wants to rule the world then another weird comment!

And thank you for not doing the cheesy early MTV video..whick made no sense at all. ✌️
I second that. I love Tears For Fears but not their videos.
Loved it. Try "Shout" too. Thanks Shawn for the great reactions, they make my days better .Blessings all.
Head Over Heals and Mad World just a couple more from their large catalog.

Probably their best song.
Hard to say when there’s Woman In Chains, Bad Man’s Song, Year of the Knife. So many song to choose.

Memories fade and Start of the breakdown next. Man, there's so much there.
Keep going.
This one was good.
One of the most iconic songs of the 80s. ❤
Exactly!!!!
Gorgeous song - one of my favorites. Wonderful to revisit with you. Thanks!
"Woman in Chains" definitely. Oleta Adams is a revelation on that track with her superb vocals. The music video for the song is also terrific.
They take you in more directions than Zeppelin.
Without a doubt the most underrated band in decades!

Shawn. If you want to have some fun try Dont Try To Lay No Boogie Woogie On The King of Rock and Roll by Long John Baldry
There's no good reason for this song to end... ever.
Bad mans song by them is one of the best songs ever composed
Mr know it all here..Tears 4 fears..The HURTING..that's the one..don't care for their later stuff
Then Listen to Shout again because you obviously have a "One Track Mind" 😂 and you still probably done understand what I'm saying!!!
I miss the 80’s
Strange choice TFF had many well known songs that were hits this was not one of them.
si ma questa è superiore a quelle più conosciute
This song is a little strange, but I do like their other songs a lot.👍💚
