- Hey Guys! So, today is a craft kit review. I decided to test out this pottery kit I found at walmart called "My Very Own Pottery Wheel" (obviously geared toward kids, but hey....). As a complete NEWB with pottery, I thought maybe starting out with a kit like this would be a good starting point for a beginner.
I always get so excited for these type of kits where you are given the tools to make something, but you can also use your own creativity. I am always looking for new painting projects and different things to decorate. Like all the other kit reviews I have done so far, it doesn't go completely according to plan. Is it just me, or are all these kits terri-BOWL?!?!?!

I'm a pottery student and according to the fact that this is your first time with ceramic, you actually did pretty good. We had to work with our hands for one year and then they let us use the pottery wheel in the second year.

As a potter who specializes in teacups/mugs and bowls...this is incredibly entertaining to watch. And yes, we sand our pottery

This was one of the first videos I watched of moriahs after seeing her do the first squishy makeovers we all know and love today. After I watched this video I was OBSESSED with the idea of making pottery. After a couple of months my mom found a pottery class for kids and teens. I have been taking that class for about 3-4 years now and I am almost certain I will be doing pottery for the rest of my life as either a full time job or a hobby. I was recently gifted my very own pottery wheel and I have never been happier. Thank you so much moriah, I loved your videos then and I love them now. Thank you ❤️

After taking pottery classes and throwing pots, I think you did an amazing job! It's not easy, seriously! Even when you are in a class and have professional equipment it doesn't work out at least half the time. Lol. You did well! Love the teapot and watermelon, your 3rd creation could be a pencil holder.?

potters do sand their pottery! it makes everything a lot smoother and nicer to handle, so ur right about that! the air drying thing is weird though, hope you haven't used the mug because that does not seem safe lol

as someone who took a ceramics class, Im here to say a potter’s wheel takes awhile to learn. its really difficult.
I took a college course in ceramics and I was cringing constantly. However, it wasn't a bad job for someone who never did it before, didn't have proper instructions, and was working with terrible equipment.
I took a ceramics club so ya,i agree with you.

I got a pottery kit like this that was missing some pieces so I had to use my hands for it. It actually worked fairly well.
I used this same wheel for my first time I actually did great I was struggling like you but the instructions helped alot.
The creations weren’t that bad I actually liked them

I tried pottery cuz my cousin took me to her pottery lesson
I ended up making and bowl that looks like a piece of stepped on poop
I tried a again and got a pretty decent thing to hold pencils

in all fairness, I took a ceramic's class in highschool and used a pottery wheel a few times. In your case, once you stopped using those god awful shaping tools they provided, you used pretty good technique with your hands, and honestly im surprised the kit actually was smart enough to provide customers with the string to detatch it from the wheel. your work doesn't look terrible, don't put yourself down too much. at least you didn't have to use a kiln to fire your pieces, haha~
