- Hey guys! Today's video is a little bit of a mess. I'm sorry it didn't go better. There is a lot of struggle, I know. I hope you can at least have fun laughing at my failure! LOLOLOL
This sewing kit is marketed toward beginners who have no clue how to sew or use a sewing machine (ME). This being my first time using a sewing machine, it was extremely...well you'll see.

The Boppin is what connects to the top thread which makes the stitches stay in the fabric so I understand why this thing doesn't work at all
No bottom thread means no sew fabric together... lol
The bobbin was the main ingredient there. You need the bobbin to secure your thread in the fabric from the opposite side

I actually got this for christmas a few years ago and it was working for almost 5 minutes and it just started making these snap noises and the needle fell off and like the 7 year old i was, i almost put it in my mouth 😄

As someone who has been sewing for about 8 years, these kind of kits make me mad. They are so cheap and awful quality, you might as well just sew with a needle and thread by hand, it’s a lot cheaper and fun.
I love sewing, and I started around age 11. I asked for a sewing machine, and I'm so thankful that my family bought me a legit sewing machine instead of a "kit" like this. I would have been so discouraged. Granted, I don't sew as much now as I did back then, but oh well.

ive used a sewing machine before and the bobbin is very important in regular sewing machines. It is like a doughnut shaped version of a spool of thread that you put in the compartment beneath the needle in order to sew the underside of the fabric making the top thread stay in the fabric and ultimately tying the pieces of fabric together. I learned to sew in like 6th grade, we started learning with sheets of paper and we didn't even get thread until the teacher taught us how to make straight lines, corners, zig zag versus straight line stitch, ect. but we used older sewing machines, my mom bought a newer model sewing machine and it gets jammed and the thread breaks just like that toy one you got, but not as much lol and the lever is also a bit short, but sewing is easier when you sit lower i guess. BTW when you sew your suppose to sew forward 2 stitches, change it too reverse and sew 2 stitches back to make a "knot" so your thread doesn't just pull out of the fabric. In order to make a corner stop at the corner and if your needle is in the air use big wheel to lower it into the fabric, ALWAYS turn towards yourself, if you turn away you could break it. that's a tip for all sewing machines. lift pedal and rotate fabric, put pedal back down and start sewing again. The pedal that holds your fabric in place is called a foot and you don't need to have it down, sometimes if you have a loose stitch ot something the thread of that loose stitch can get stuck on the foot, but the foot is great for control. Hope that helps :3 Now I wanna sew something....

You need a bobbin. You have to have 2 threads otherwise it has nothing to attach to. One from under the fabric and one from over. And the knot themselves in a braid like fashion. And that's how it works. No bobbin no braiding. This is a " not everything included kit"

My girl that kit is terrible, like Salty Crafter would say: a craft kit should include everything. The bobin is absolutely necessary for machine sewing because it makes a chain between the top thread and the bottom bobin thread. Also that fabric is a not-woven fabric, useful for certain crafts, not recommended for clothing and a fabric I wouldn't recommend for beginners
But Salty Crafter is weird and gets mad and copies Moriah ALL THE TIME!!!

A bobbin is the secondary roll of thread that sits below the presser foot in a sewing machine. It is what comprises the second length of thread as you’re sewing
@Chef Hiba The bobbin keeps the piece together. That's most likely why her pieces came apart.
Chef Hiba A sewing machine loops two different pieces of thread through fabric to hold it together. The bobbin is the bottom piece of thread, and without it, there is no loop and the fabric can't be held together. Think of it like trying to tie your shoe with only one lace.

Just if you want to try sewing again, there is supposed to be a bottom thread and I am ten years old and can handle it great ☺️ the sewing machine is called Magicfly🦋 and it's one that is white with purple and comes with many bobbins, scissors, a thread cutter, and three buttons on the side. It also comes with a foot pedal, a cord instead of batteries (I think you'll like that), and a white thing that works as a little table but it doesn't really work but you can manage it anyways 😁 The only catch is that you need to buy the fabric but at least it gives you a choice!!
You have to have a bobbin to sew... I don't know what these machines expect to do.

I had a handheld sewing maching that did not use a bobbin. It had a sort of chainstitch that would pull out unless you secured it by pulling the thread to other side and tying it off. Kind of like some bags of kitty litter or produce. If you get that thread just right you can unravel it.
i was watching this while quilting on a real sewing machine lmao
the problem is that it doesn't have a bobbin; the bobbin and the spool of thread working together kind of wrap the two strands of thread together on the bottom of the fabric so it doesn't pull apart during each stitch. any sewing machine that doesn't use two strands or more of thread simply will not make stitches that hold. (there's some pretty neat gifs of how it works if you search "sewing machine bobbin gif" on google!) if you get a chance to try a real sewing machine, you should, it does definitely make life easier; some fussy things still need to be sewn by hand but overall it just makes sewing SO much easier.
(the other problem is that it's cheap garbage but it could be cheap garbage that at least kind of sewed if it had a bobbin)

This is like those cheap "handheld sewing machines" from China, only worse. If you're buying a handheld, I think most people are aware that there will be....limitations. but if you are calling something a legit sewing machine and L this is the crap you give people...
I dislike junk like this that makes people think sewing is hard and they can't do it. It's really not, I swear! You can get a decent machine for less then $50 that will give you all the confidence in the world

Believe it or not, there are machines that do not use a bobbin. This seems to be one of them. The reason it doesn't work is it's a piece of junk.

The thread wont stay unless there’s a bobbin. You are better off paying $60 (only $20 more) for a brother sewing machine (which is a good sewing machine that really works) which comes with everything and a CD that goes over everything and helps you really see. Good luck.

I have my own REAL sewing machine and it is better than the one in the video. But I mainly handsew.
My friend got hurt by a sewing machine.. I dont know how in details... but she was doing something and there was another girl who was pressing the peddle and she didnt stop so my friend tried to get soemthing out and her pointer finger had a needle right through it..there was loads of blood. She didnt cry tho..

Ikr? Most modern sewing machines are designed with safety in mind. Unless you're actively doing something stupid like running over pins, it's unlikely you'd hurt yourself. I've used several machines since around 9 and have been physically hurt 0 times by the machine itself.

It's likely to be a chain stitch machine which doesn't require a bobbin :) a lot of earlier machines and "toy/minature" machines employed the same method.

I noticed that the thread in the compartment kept getting bunched up... yeah, you'd be better off getting an actual sewing machine if you want to sew with one. Yes, it's pricey and scary at first, but it's actually not that hard to get into and will definitely work better than that terrible tiny one.
Also, that metal thing is a needle threader, it's for people who have trouble threading needles, but I learned that using paper works a lot better and you won't have to worry about the threader falling apart.

@@maddygroffenberg8658 no, those are spools. A sewing machine uses two threads, one on the bottom (the bobbin) and one on the top.
Maddy Groffenberg the bobbin is the thread that goes onto the bottom of the machine so when you sew it keeps the fabric together.
Every machine like this one has no bobbin and never works.... even if they do end up sewing the thread always comes loose and falls out. The bobbin is an essential part and this machine as well as those hand held ones never have it which makes me think these machines are made by people who have no idea how a sewing machine works...

Sewing machines are actually easy to use(for me, Idk about anyone else), I made a duffel bag on my first try, It's a lot quicker than sewing by hand, but this kit is the complete opposite. My hand-stitched bags from when I was five now seem amazing compared to what someone can do with this kit. Also, a bobbin is completely necessary, to those of you who do not know, A bobbin is the secondary roll of thread that sits below the presser foot in a sewing machine. There's literally no way that machine could EVER work!!! A real sewing machine has two sets of threads: one on top and one on bottom. They intertwine with each other in order to sew. Simple mechanics. :)

Nah it’s a chain stitch machine. A terrible one, but it can work without the bobbin there were a lot of vintage children’s machines that did the same.

I can sew, really sew well, and I have tried a couple of these little “kid” sewing machines and they are all crap. A cheap real machine is WAY easier to use. Nothing wrong with you? Only the machine.

The best beginners sowing machine is a janome because of the bobbin set. Brothers have footed bobbins. That are hard to load and tangle easy. To start with i would go for a janome you get them at Jo-Ann's online store. And it comes with free lessons at Jo-Ann's.
I agree. When I was starting out I got a janome one from my grandmother and I had no trouble what so ever. I'm only 12.
