Responding to the hate we've gotten for posting our hikes and adventures. Never underestimate the motivation of the internet troll! At the end of the day, you've just gotta see the humor in it. Some of these were actually quite entertaining! =P
How anyone can hate on such awesome, kind and positive people…..I’ll never know! You guys rock 🤘🏼
Aw thank you! We've honestly been a bit surprised by some of the hate, especially the ageism, but as you can see we generally just try to have fun with it and just keep doing what we do! ❤️
Agree with u 100%! Who gives a sh!t how old these great people are or what they look like. They are both good looking and this is not a freaking modeling channel. Love the channel as well.

I used to work in restaurants, breweries etc... There was this local couple that were retired and filthy rich that came into this certain local brewery because they "knew" the owner. EVERY SINGLE day they would sit there and judge EVERYTHING possible. One day I asked them, "When are you opening your own place? I can't wait to see how perfect it is." They quickly stopped there criticism.
Keep rocking your own worlds because that's all that matters!!! ✌✌✌

Haha we figured out early on that if we saved the mean comments then we could eventually turn them into a fun and positive video -- we honestly had a great time doing it!! ❤️

It is abundantly evident to Adam & Elise that to soften UA-cam’s rough edges they must cultivate levity on a weekly basis.
So, after watching (laughing mainly) their latest review of comments left by creepy subscribers, I am left with a deep seated & passionate feeling that no amount of odd, strange, ill formed or just plain nutty comment directed at them will ever prevent them from getting on a trail and sharing their adventures with the 99.999% of us viewers who fully enjoy their great adventures.
You got right to the heart of it immediately as always, Frans! Cultivating levity is just the absolute perfect way to put it. It's a real gift that Adam has, and he's really taught it to me over the years until now it's almost second nature when faced with something harsh. ❤️ --E

I love your outlook and how you don't let the negative comments weigh you down. Hopefully the positive comments more than make up for them. I love your videos and all the adventures you take us on. I know some of the locations I wouldn't be able to do so I can live vicariously through you two. You are inspiring with how active you are able to be while still having "normal" jobs and family life to consider. I think the music and singing is great and makes your channel unique. When I was in Army basic training, we were taught to tie the "military rappel seat" which is similar to your emergency rappel technique without a harness. 200 of us in my company rappelled down Warrior Tower no problem. Literally, the army teaches it. I'd love to see the haters try to get through basic 🙂

Adam and Elise -- you could not help smiling even when presenting about a negative topic. Your videos should be prescribed for depressed people, they are so bursting with joy from the majestic scenery, satisfaction of meeting tough challenges, and the overflowing love you have for one another. Your videography, including Elise's well integrated soundtrack singing, brings out the positives so well. The definition of uplifting.

It's hard for me to conceive of someone who doesn't like Elise's music. It was the music that first sucked me into your channel. However now that I am here, there are so many more reasons I love your channel. The views are awesome, the locations give me lots of ideas and motivation, but what I have really come to love is just you guys. That you can sit in front of the camera for 18 minutes and just discuss hateful emails in such a fun way says it all. You guys are just fun to be around. Also, the only channel I have ever known that responds to apparently every comment posted. Seriously I can't imagine all the time you spend doing that. But the result is that I feel I know you a bit more personally than just someone watching from afar. Be thankful that at least you get comments. I have been posting youtube for a couple of years and I very seldom even get a comment, at least you get feedback ;) My biggest complaint is that I was going to get something done tonight and then I saw you posted a video and knew that 18 minutes of my evening was shot, because I am going to watch it!

Just remember, any engagement is good engagement because that's what the UA-cam algorithm looks for. I don't think you should have taken that video down. Screw the haters, I thought it was a great video and good to know for a novice hiker such as myself.
As for the age difference? Good for both of you that you found your soul mate. Anyone complaining are either older women who are bitter they're alone, or older men jealous that Adam found a younger woman who genuinely loves him for who he is and not for his money.
And Elise, you keep rocking the mascara!

You two need to blow off all negative comments and focus on the positive which is that you're both very kind, both are in excellent condition and you have a lot of fun. Those negative commenters only do that to other because they need somehow to make themselves feel better. I've watched a number of your videos and they're all very well done, in fact, both of you have some serious courage at times. Keep up the great work, continue to have fun, and pay no attention to the negativity. Hike on!!

But in all seriousness, that is a good point -- we usually feel like if people are getting riled up about something that we do, then what we're doing is probably pretty interesting and worthwhile. ❤️

One thing I have learned is it is usually not about you guys anyway. Those people are probably just haters and maybe in pain, so please keep up the positive attitude and just try to give them some compassion. You two are awesome and I look up to your abilities.
That's very well said, and we totally agree. It's the biggest reason we never send an angry response. Either we respond in a compassionate way or, if it's just too hopelessly rude and mean, we simply don't respond at all. But we never want to be harsh or make that person's life worse than it already is. Glad you see it the same way! ❤️
i found this channel at a low point in my life a year or so ago and your music/positivity continues to inspire me

I love this video. Honestly, I try not to comment mean stuff in general, but some of the things you guys brought up - I have to admit I did have assumptions about, even if I wasn’t “judging”. Thoughts like hey if I’m 45 and can get a 20 year old, good for me (hope I’m rich by then) creep in. It’s completely asinine , but it’s almost natural for people to assume, probably because it is seen so often. I’m also an experienced climber,so in forums I see that nasty side of the climbing community that is basically always gonna sh&t on anyone who isn’t up to their level, even if the person is just breaking it down for people even more amateur or who don’t climb. So don’t even give them the time of day. This video gave an awesome perspective on you two. Love your videos, keep making them. Gives me great ideas for hikes. I’ve done a couple of them. Tried cloudripper… had to bail - you guys are insanely brave. Not without trad gear will I be trying that again. The music- still cracks me up though but all in good fun if that’s what it it’s meant to be!

I am 60 and retired. The average American is overweight and broke. As a result, alot of people are unhappy. Ignore the haters and keep inspiring others to live life to the fullest.

Yes George, we especially thought the age stuff was interesting. Neither of us had really thought at all about ageism before doing the channel, but now it's something we're much more aware of and hopefully can set a good example in terms of not being held back by it. ❤️
I love you guys and the age difference comments are annoying, but really disappointed to see the “if I was black” comparison when you were talking about those comments. Ageism has never resulted in the mass deaths of a people the way racism, especially anti-Black racism, has - in the country youre from! You’re both lovely and so inspiring to me, so I don’t want to come across as me attacking you or calling you racist, but I think that comparison was not appropriate. Let’s not undermine the hugely negative consequences of racism in an attempt to make a point about ageism (which is real!).

I was just trying in the moment to make the point that people don't realize that ageism is a kind of discrimination, but that was a poor choice of comparison for all the reasons you mention. I have done some of these crazy hikes that you guys have done. I think that you guys handled this perfectly. The comments about how you look are ridiculous. If these people even attempted to do these hikes, they would not worry about how you guys look. Keep going. you guys are awesome.

You two are a great couple. I enjoy watching all your adventures. I was in Mountain Search and Rescue for 12 years in California and we never put our lives at risk for anybody. We actually loved it when we got called out for a Search or Rescue. It's what we volunteered for, a chance to put our skills to work helping fellow mountaineers in need. I never heard my fellow rescuers talk despairingly of someone in trouble. As you said, only someone who is NOT in SAR sits in judgement and talks that way.

Like all adventurers, we're so grateful for the SAR people and the rangers that love helping people in need, and we also appreciate how much knowledge and support many of you have shared with us over the years through this channel. And you are absolutely right: we've never once had a ranger or SAR person talk down to us -- they only support, encourage, and offer helpful knowledge and advice. ❤️
The haters hate themselves. Be thankful you aren't them. You two are wonderful and great to watch. Oh did I say gorgeous too! The older I get I don't give a hoot what anyone thinks. I love love your outlook, I don't think I could respond so kindly. One more thing no one is making them watch your channel.Oh your finger what happened? I bet it wasn't from climbing? I am always slicing or burning myself in the kitchen.
Thanks so much - and yes the finger was from climbing! I got a little over-ambitious attempting a V4 boulder and ripped of a.small chunk of skin. The full finger wrap was overkill though -- I realized when editing the video that it looks like a real injury instead of just the minor skin flapper that it is 😂 --A

@@BL-zi9wb It really depends on the hike. For Grand Canyon Rim to Rim we had a hard cutoff time so had to run a lot of it -- maybe 75% -- but usually we just run enough so that we're well out in front of all other hikers and can take our time filming without anyone else in the shot. Starting early and running is the best way to be out there all alone, so how much of a trail we run often depends on how alone we are out there. Also sometimes, like with Rabbit Peak, we need to run a fair amount in order to get back before it gets dark and dangerous. So on the really long marathon type ones we will often run at least half in order to get back before nightfall. ❤

Adam, ageism is definitely real! I've been experiencing it myself at jobs since I've been in my 50's - even since my 40's. And you're right - people stand by and do nothing about it. I know I can work circles around people half my age and I'm sure you can too! Elise, your voice is beautiful and I'm a fan! Your intro song is what drew me into the channel!
Yes! Sorry you've experienced that, though I bet you still do just fine with a positive attitude, talent and a good work ethic. It's just so weird when you start to experience that discrimination. I guess I just grew up sort of knowing from the culture about things like sexism or racism, but I never really knew anything about ageism until we started the channel. It's been a very interesting thing to learn about. --A

Unless I'm out on a backpacking trip I still fill in my brows, curl my lashes and wear tinted lip balm on the trails. Heck, I color coordinate my hiking clothes with all my gear. LOL!
