    Does this course include the sword model ready to import into zbrush? I use Maya to model so I would just like to learn how to sculpt these details to the sword in zbrush. Pls let me know if the model is available in the course resources.

    Im a big fan of your work Sir. I really love your art work and workflow. Just a question in mind tha why are you still using 3ds max for polygonal modeling ? Most of artists are recomending cinema4d,.modo, maya and blender. There are very rare artists who admire 3ds max. Im.also using 3ds max for last 5 years

    • @Wings012
      @Wings012 4 роки тому

      There are still studios that use 3ds max, so I wouldn't rate one over the other. I'm currently using Maya at my current workplace but I consider inferior in many ways to Max and Blender when it comes to modeling. I used Blender at my previous job and Max before that. When you work for companies, you need to learn what they are using.

    I will definitely buy this, just need to finish the mech tutorial first! With the quad remesher plugin for 3ds max, do you think the retopo will be a bit easier and less cleanup? Or will it just replace the zremesher part from zbrush ?

    • @ChamferZone
      @ChamferZone  5 років тому +1

      Hello :) I didn't have the chance to test the quad remesher plugin yet but from what it looks to me is that it's very similar to ZRemesher. ZRemesher however seems to have a few more options under the hood. But then like I said I didn't use that plugin yet so I can't really say much about it. I look forward trying it out though and I think Autodesk is also working on some auto retopo tool themselves from what I heard.

    Very cool, I am gonna buy this for sure!!! The only thing is that I will be doing the first part in Cinema 4D and not 3DSMax, I am sure I can follow along with no problem as I know the modeling tools there. The only thing that I am a bit worried about is the Smoothing groups, I watched your video on the UV Unwrap, not sure how to do the Smoothing groups in C4D...?

    • @Wings012
      @Wings012 4 роки тому +2

      Very late reply and I haven't used C4D before, but I've used Max, Blender and Maya. Smoothing groups is just how Max controls vertex normals, or in simpler terms - what edges are soft or hard(edges within the same smoothing group polygons are soft, and edges bordering different smoothing groups are hard). In Blender and Maya, this is largely done by marking specific edges as hard or soft rather than utilizing smoothing groups. Typically there's a function to automatically do it for you based on angles. If C4D doesn't have smoothing groups, it probably has something similar to Blender/Maya. As long as the right edges are hard or soft, it really shouldn't matter whether the software you use has smoothing groups or not.

      Hello Error! I would recommend to follow either with ZBrush 2019 or with 2020! The reason for that is that ZRemesher got updated in the 2019 version and this is an essential part for when we create the lowpoly later on!

    • @aleksandrkhannanov180
      @aleksandrkhannanov180 4 роки тому

      I don't think so. Well, you could try it, but I think it wil turn out really painful looking for all those modifiers and tools in Blender, that resemble the ones in the video. In case you are really proficient with Blender (modeling and unwrapping techniques), it could be a thing .

    • @Wings012
      @Wings012 4 роки тому

      I've used both Max and Blender before. I haven't done the sword tutorial but I've done the grenade and gun tutorials so if this one is similar enough(setting aside the ZBrush part), I think it is possible. Blender at the very least has a modifier system similar to Max. Max's Chamfer modifier = Blender's Bevel. Max's Turbosmooth = Blender's Subdivision. I'd probably find it easier to do these tutorials using Blender than Maya which lacks modifiers completely.
      Though you have to expect that you can't follow the tutorials step by step anymore and will have to translate the knowledge across.
