Great review!! These were the first pair of blades I got after a 18 year hiatus and got the exact same size as you. I didn’t realize how big they felt until I bought a pair of Aeons 60s and felt how snug they were. It’s definitely a give and take relationship. I can vouche for the Megas. I ordered the same pair of wheels and bearings, switched to the flat 4 Megas and what a difference in speed!! SLs will always be my first love though and Dereks are the perfect combo!!!
Thanks Ricardo! Your review overall matches my (beginner) impressions after a year of use of the SL DH1 (very few differences, perhaps the cuff?). One key reason for buying Razors SL is if you have really wide feet (AFAIK, only few other options such as Roces 5th Element, SL being on the lighter side), and the SL DH come with the great Reign v3 liner, a big plus I think. Regarding the sizing, also 43 here, and hesitated a lot with downsizing, but the smaller shell is not as wide, so I went for the same "recommended" shell as you. It is true that you then have a lot of space in front... In order to deal with it, I use waxed laces and I lace them quite tight and "on the inside" at the bottom, in that way, they are located between the boot and the liner, and reduce the vertical space in front. Very comfortable even when laced tightly. Otherwise, they also feel good with a medium Oysi frame: more speed, less risk of touching the soul plate while turning, and less of a cheater setup to go boot down on the grinds ;) (need dig the soul plate a little to fit the 68mm wheels).
I’m a 275 mm foot and I downsized to the 8/9 shell and it’s tight in the toe but I am currently using a THEM intuition and it’s better and you can also toe cut the sl for extra toe space
I’m a uk9 and the uk9-10 boots feels way too big. The uk7-8 is perfect as long as you dont mind that huge heel shock. Unfortunately i cant handle a shock that big as it gives me terrible foot cramp and makes my feet go numb, but i need it in there to raise my foot so it raises it up and to the back of the shell. Liners are great, boots awesome for most people, frames again are awesome. The wheels were super slow for me though like skating in mud! Much prefer USD Aeons or Gawds Franky skates which fit my feet perfectly. Great review Lino as always and sick skating!
The SL cuffs were 1000x more supportive than the Gen cuffs. You should compare the first SLs with the SL cuff to the new style gen ones. It’s such a huge difference.
@@chilli-iceolive-abode2447 yeah I recently bought some, I’ve got 275mm Foot and put a 43 liner in fits perfectly. Can’t decide if I prefer the SL‘s or Aeons tho🤷🏻♂️
@@Franz_giblet As someone who never had Razors before I couldn't believe how flexible they were and that cuff it squishes so easily with one hand. It's incredible! I've never used the Aeons, but with the Sways I had I have to use the 43-44 shell because of the width. Do you also have you use the 43-44 for the Aeon?
Great Video, love my ones just going to change the frame to the oysi medium (for the speed). The stock wheels they come with are 90a hardness. If you google sl shell sizes there is a picture of the exact mm internal shell size, as you’re a 10 in a 9-10 shell you’re at the top of that shell which works out good, I’m a uk 9 and the 9-10 felt really big 👍🏻
@@Franz_giblet yeah how they do the shell sizes if you're at the lower end thats where they might feel big. I suppose ideally that's where you might want to try the smaller shell size and see how that feels. But even then you might need to change the liner to a thinner one.
The skates suits your style very good and i think they are one of the better stylish blades on you in my opinion :D great rewiew! The 43 shell is very comfy but to big for me too so ive tryed to downsizes and it work! But i need some perfekt fitting liner got the stock in 42 who is a bit to small and a 42,5 reign witch fit a big to big..only sad thing in blading is when you cant testet all the produkts in your towns greetings
@@Tengis4 hello! Yes it worked with downsizing :D and so it will for you! And @Ricardo lino can also i guess! I skate a sl3 with the old liner from it and works so well :D
Thanks so much for the review. Can anyone tell me if my 260mm normal width feet would fit into the 7/7.5? Also, Intuition has half sizes of these skates. Does that mean the 7.5 just has a 7.5 liner? Do the liners come in half sizes? Thanks y'all.
The half sizes only apply to the liner, shells are still dual sizes. You might fit into the 6-7 shell, but the 8-9 shell will def be too big for 260mm. The 8-9 shell fits more like a size 10 tbh.
SLs are such a great skate, my only gripe is the sizing with the Reign liners. The Reign toebox area is too slim for such a roomy shell. In fact, most liners have that same issue in the SL except maybe the fatboy/crown liners.
sorry for the odd question but could you tell me how tall you are, and what MM your feet are? just trying to get an idea of the size of these skates. thanks
I have been skating the SL for about 4 years... In the wrong size. My foot size is 273mm long, 111mm wide. I just sized down from the 10-11 to the 8-9 shell with the Intuition Premium and it fits like a glove. The 10-11 felt like my foot was swimming inside even with the reign v3ht liner and laces interlaced into the boot. Might not be a bad idea to try the 8-9 shell with a liner with a thin toe. I had the same issue with the cuff being too high for the v3ht liners. They work well with the vcut cuff... But why they release boots with a low cut liner and a high cuff makes no sense. They should have used the vcut cuffs.
hey i have the almost the same size foot as u give or take a mm or two i was going to order some sl’s but im worried that the 8-9 will be too tight width wise cause on the razors website the width for 8-9 shell without liner is 97mm what do u think? also i plan on getting a set of reign v3 liners if that makes a difference
@@david-eye I use that shell size and my feet are wider than 97mm and my foot length is 276mm and the shells don't even feel that snug. The plastic used is extremely flexible which I imagine contributes to the forgiving fit.
Hey Ricardo, thanks for this review. Do you think this oder the aeon is the better skate? Particularly for people who are coming back to blading? Greetings from Germany :)

I almost bought those! But now I got usd carbons with the featherlites 3… love them!😇 no regrets
Love the skates and have the same comments pretty much. I have wheels coming in today to do 8 wheels instead of 4
Is this skate one of the best skates for beginners to learn aggressive skating ??
Yes it's a good one
I think the 41-42 shell is 287mm inside so with a 43 liner in I think you’d be able to downsize easy.
It’s 284

Colour has no impact on the speed of the wheels what so ever, also the natural colour of urethane is clear not white.
