In all honesty I liked the sorta-review, but my only annoyance is that I expected a review of the skates as they are, without any modifications. I understand that breaking in liners takes some time, each person has their own preference and idea on what setup works best for them, but a proper review should cover the skates as they are sold, and probably put at the end suggestions or ideas if there are any, also basing the suggestions against any other options be it in that price range, or in that skill range. I am somewhat familiar with the SLs since they got launched first (back when Brian Aragon was killing it), but that happened a long time ago and the hobby overall has progressed somewhat.
That's fair. I'm not a professional reviewer of skates and don't have a lot of experience with other recent models to compare them to. I like these a l lot though. Hopefully, I can do more thorough product reviews in the future.
@@RollMinnesota yeah I always see some of your videos reviewing edits and stuff but when I saw this edit I was like dammmmnn he smooth with it. Wasn't expecting that at all. Good job bud keep it up! 🤜🤛
I think the whole point of a review is that you're supposed to skate them 100% stock first and then explain what and why you change them up a bit. Hahahhh .. Anyway. Insane skating! Is there a grind he can't lace!?
You kill it on the razors. I wish i could get that good. I have old genesys and just got shifts. The shifts are very light. The reign liners tho, i had to swap them into my genesys cause they were like slamming a door on my ankles and toes. What do you think of reign liners. What do you think of shifts. What do you think of cult all stars. How are SLs different. Did you wax the cuff lol. Im Rolling in MI now. Its kinda like MN lol. There was a skatepark like that here in Muskegon, but they tore it down, all thats left is some great flat round rails, some boxes and a metal half pipe. But nobodys ever there so its great
I love Reign liners, but they take awhile to break in and get comfortable . . . that's why I reuse the same liners for as long as possible. Shifts are pretty good, but I've always felt more comfortable in SL's. I can't really describe the difference, but SL's have always felt more balanced and responsive on the flexing.
i bought a pair of these in the correct size and the cuff seems to be really digging into my ankle. So much so that I would be in pain from it if i tried to top soul a ledge. Is this just a break in process or is something not right. Im not overweight or anything and I feel like if i were to loosen the cuff strap more I would be taking a risk of ankle issues. Another issue i have is only with the right skate. The liner where my toes start digs into that spot. so much so it left a bruise. Only the right skate though. Both are laced the same and strapped in the same. Not sure what thats all about. ive skated razer for years and aside from the normal blister for the first week or so ive never had a skate be this rough on my feet. Any thoughts on this?
Another note is that he pulled these out of the box and swapped frames and liners but everything else was brand new and he seemed to have no issues at all bending is ankle for topside tricks.
@@Stu108 I usually give away my old skates or have friends sell them for me. We've done a few fundraisers for blading charities in the past and are hoping to do another one soon.
UPDATE: I WON A COMP IN THESE SKATES! ua-cam.com/video/DlnJ75rANXg/v-deo.html
I am not surprised lol. I was just at the king of the north and you would have done well. Are you rocking the fluid v frame?
scratch that lol slimlines got it.
Jeeeeez your good man! 🤙🤙
Good video and well edited 👌
Dude , u are insane!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥

"Full Cab"? Brrra, this is Aggressive Skating. It's a Fakie 3. 😁
He’s right tho.. half cab and full cab was old school fruitboot lingo.. I sk8 and snowboard I don’t mind...

Tons of hammers and I love how you spin out of tricks. That was fun! Thanks.
Thanks! It was definitely a fun day for me too!
Dang Butch those skates are 🔥 but those moves are 🔥🔥
Thanks Ethan! I think my buddy Nelson may have found some lightly used skates for you, if you're still looking for a pair.
@@RollMinnesota alright cool man! Tell me next time you’re at Shako!
I must admit you make me want to give SLs a try. Great video 🔥
the heel pad is glorious
Debateable . . . seriously though, I know most people love the heel pads.
You should! What are you riding these days?
@@RollMinnesota M12s. I'm in the market for new skates...🤔
Daaaaaamn! You're the shit bro! Amazing video. Love the jam when you rode. Thank you.
Thanks for the kind words! It was a great time . . . always is with friends!
Bro, you went in for the kill! Ripping!

Ordered a pair today after a 15 years hiatus from blading. I'll buy an helmet too. :)

Well said ultra
Wow! that was some serious tricks you did, smooth as butter!
Thanks so much! I love these skates and this skatepark.
No pressure but next review has got to be the kid in purple mo hawk helmet. Incredible
That kid was cool! We have a lot of really friendly and respectful kids at our parks.
That's awesome a group of bladers. Homie you got some skills I salute you. Showing love from west Virginia. I'm think that I'm going to be back in it
Dropping hammers my boi
I try to go big . . . while I still can. :)
Sick skating man !! Mid west kids rip ! On snow and concrete
Great review, you killed it in that first part! You should do a street section.
We've been working on a full video for the past two years. It should be out this fall.
@@RollMinnesota 😯🙌
Man wasn't expecting you to be that good props bro!
Thanks! I've been blading for 20 years now, so I've had quite a bit of practice and try to learn something new every session.

Any pros/cons between the stock version of these and Genesys LE? More comfy and flexible? I know Genesys are a few mm wider. Worth the extra $100+?
Beautiful skating bro. thinking about getting some sls myself.
damn! got some skills on those mini constructions bro!
Much appreciated! I really enjoyed these boots!
Sick session! Loved it.
Thanks and glad you enjoyed our session (I definitely did)!
Smooth skating brotha!
Thanks! It was definitely a fun session with the crew!
That was dope.
Wicked skating as always!
Appreciate it! I had a blast!
I see you are in love with razors sl. You bought like 3 pairs of them in 1 year
I know what I like! :)
@@RollMinnesota surely Razors sponsor you by now ;)
I have those and they are and preform great 👍
Wow, nice!
Thanks! I'm definitely enjoying the skates and hoping to see more from Derek Henderson soon.

I wish the skate parks near me had some nicer smaller stuff like you got.

man gotta grow a pair and come out shak and skate with you just joined the mn fb group your sick just started again after 22 years off skates
Do it! We always welcome new and returning skaters!
How are Ground Control wheels?
Sick session! What frame size are u using with size 41 eu?
I'm not entirely sure: the skates are US size 8 and the frames are size medium. You might have to use a size chart.

Are the old SL's you have totally shredded or do you just like supporting the brand/Derek? Sick skating as always!
They still have quite a bit of life left, but I try to support the industry by buying two pairs of skates each year (spring and fall).

I have 47
Read carefully Before Use..
I don’t think so
Hahaha
I just want to skate; I don't have time for an instruction manual. 😉
Don’t call it a review if you’re not going to actually skate them as is out the box. 🤦♂️
